This could have been a good story. It avoids the lousy supernatural themes that most games have these days (boring!) I was super excited to see something sci-fi. I'm not sure who did the English dialogue or the script, but it was a major stinker.
The English was broken at best, sounding clunky and reminding me of a scammer trying to fake an English accent. If they used English voice actors, those folks should have spoken up and let them know the grammar was a nightmare.
The characters were so stereotypical, I could have cried. In walks a guy with an earring and 'tough guy' clothes. Seriously? And the MIB looking CIA agent... again seriously?
This could have been a five star game, the mechanics were good, the pictures were nice, I seriously wanted to buy this game. I just couldn't get past the items listed above, it hurt my brain.
I don't recommend this game.

Summary - interesting story, typical match three, if you like them, you'll like this.
I tried the demo and it was interesting and challenging enough for me to use a freebie ticket on it. I've been playing through and it's a nice solid match three. The storyline is also interesting.
As far as game mechanics, it's a pretty standard match three with powerups and extras. What made me spend a ticket on it was the storyline; I really want to know how it ends for the mermaid.
I recommend this game!

I've bought and replayed all the previous versions of this game and I plan to pick this one up too. It's just a fun puzzle game for days when you want to zone out. I find the mechanics relaxing, and the new powerups are pretty neat as well.
This isn't a game for losing yourself, like an adventure game. This is a game for playing when you are watching tv. It's a good background game. Plus, breaky crushy things, what's not to love about it!
I recommend this game!

I can honestly say this is the most annoying game I have ever played, and that's saying a lot. I have purchased more than 500 games from this site alone, spanning a membership time of 13 years (yeah, first purchase in 2007!).
The gameplay is clunky, with weird interactions between the characters. The designer was trying to make a serious storyline with cartoon characters more like a comic book than a serious story. They just didn't mesh at all.
I also found the controls annoying, click this, click here, oh too much inventory. I also couldn't figure out how to unload items you grabbed by mistake. I didn't last long enough with the game.
I think the game dev was trying to mix in too many styles in an attempt to cater to everyone, and in doing so, created a jumble of a game that is unappealing. It reminds me of when you accidentally add the wrong ingredients to a stew. You get blech.
One other note about the music. I hate background music and it is the first thing I turn off. Not being able to turn it off until AFTER the tutorial was sheer torture. I hope the devs address this for future release.
I don't recommend this game.

I didn't like how the game works with filling in the grid. I prefer being able to click and drag across the grid, and once I set a value, it locks. This one switches back and forth until the entire grid is filled in. Just not my style. I played 2 rounds and got annoyed.
I don't recommend this game.

I have replayed this game in its entirety 3 times.
This is a mosaic game with a few other types of puzzles thrown in to keep things interesting. The mosaics start out simple 10x10 and go to more advanced at 25x25.
Other puzzles in game are fit the blocks in the spaces, hidden object, and something else I can't remember. To me the best indicator that a game is excellent is how often I replay it. This one is a winner.
I recommend this game!

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE FULL VERSION.
The storyline is very engrossing. You are following in the footsteps of a gold miner who hid his treasure somewhere in his estate. Previous attempts to find said treasure drove the searcher insane. The story uses a theme similar to Agatha Christie's 'ten little indians' but with garden gnomes. It is actually quite ingenious. The puzzles so far have all fit in nicely with the story.
I am playing this story on hardcore mode and it has been challenging. I find myself having to revisit scenes quite a bit to search for the piece that I missed during my first, second, third, and maybe even fourth pass, which is what I expect from a good puzzle adventure. It tests my desire to solve and challenges me to think beyond just the part of the picture in front of me.
I do not understand the irritation with the graphics. They aren't 3D, but I do not consider this a deal-breaker. I am more about storyline and level of challenge. They could be anime or cartoon for all I care, as long as the story is good and the puzzles fit and make sense, I am happy with the game.
One thing I will say, the voice acting is very good. I was surprised at that. The sounds also fit well with the ambiance.
I haven't completed the game yet, it is that challenging on hardcore mode, and I am looking forward to the rest of Memorial Day working my way through the game.
I recommend this game!

This review is based on the demo, however, I am purchasing the game and will post additional comments to the forum.
This is a solid 4 star game, with a good TV show feel to how it has been brought together. Nice job development team.
The puzzles haven't been too tough yet. I played a lights off game and a simon game so far. The HOSs have some logical items and some find items.
What has made me want to buy this game is the storyline. It is very interesting, I'd like to learn more about the 'Frankenstein' killer. You can definitely tell that the writers were involved heavily in the development of this game. It feels like the show. Again, nicely done! It is a buy for me.
I recommend this game!

I was really looking forward to this sequel, but it fell apart about halfway through the game, which was really disappointing.
I appreciated the addition of the HP bars for the enemies. I like to know how close I am to killing an enemy. It helps me with strategy planning. I also appreciated the side quests that you could repeat to earn more money for upgrades.
However, that is where the improvements end. The story just went haywire, introducing way too many characters that, when in reserve, do not progress. The highest level weapons were much too expensive to get up to. The previously mentioned side games earned some money, but not really enough to buff up all the characters. I had to content myself with just one strong character. The rest were weak side helpers.
The story also went religious, attempting to combine science, science fiction, magic, and religion, and ending up with a horribly confusing storyline. I found myself pounding through the last few levels just to find out how it ended.
When my son (who is also a gamer) asked me how my RPG was going, my response was, "They jumped the shark."
This game took me about 24 hours to complete, which would have made a GREAT value if the story had not gone in so many directions. I love the time spent on the artwork and cut scenes but it seems like that is where most of the effort was. Not enough thought was put into the story. The end result was just not enjoyable. I am not sure I will be purchasing part 3.
