This is a great game with lots of fun variations from the recent rash of HOGs with death, ghosts, and other such unappealing subjects.
In this game you play the role of the Baron to save your lady love. I enjoyed the matching game, which is much better than a regular HOG. I liked the different puzzles and the items I had to find to advance to the next section.
As mentioned in many other reviews, the only issue with this game is it is only a 2 hour game! That is way too short for the price of a game! I will be watching for a sequel that is longer to make up for being shortchanged in this version.
Come on developers! Don't let me down; you have a potential regular here if you just make up for the too short game in your next version.
Pros - Unique hidden object match instead of just a straight search Lots of items to find and combine to advance to next area Cute storyline
Cons - Waaaaay too short, and it such that this is a HUGE con
I recommend buying this game on a discount day or with a coupon. I do not recommend paying full price; you will feel ripped off.
I enjoyed this game from the perspective that it was an interesting and unique sim style game. You have to grow different critters called sprouts so they can build things and collect items. You also have to grow food and make it rain for the sprouts. If you are nice to the sprouts, they will offer you gems that you can use to do different things.
The turn-off about the game was that the sprouts actually did this worshippy-offering thing when they gave you the items. It just struck me as weird.
Also, you have a set number of tasks to complete, and once you are done, the game is pretty much over. Normally a sim game can go on indefinitely with certain aspects. Not so with this game.
Granted, the sprouts are really cute, especially the baby ones. But the whole worship thing just comes across as weird. Add to that the limited nature of the game play, and the game is just not as good as it could be.
This is not a game for the adventure novice. It requires a lot of planning and thought. You have two options to play - hard and harder. :-) The harder version forces you to carefully consider what questions you ask the other characters because they may become uncooperative and stop answering questions. I did not play that mode.
The storyline is very engaging. You are trapped on an island that, due to severe weather, has become isolated and has now begun to sink in the sea. The owner of the island has been murdered and you, as an officer of the law, must determine who the killer is before the evidence sinks into the sea. All is not what it appears to be.
I have played this game through once, and am playing it through a second time. Take your time with this game and enjoy it. The story is the puzzle, and you must consider all the evidence to solve the mystery.
Pros - Interesting mystery storyline Excellent graphics that can be tailored to the capabilities of your computer Voice actors Play at your own speed
Cons - May be overly complicated for novice player
I beta tested this game, and as I played it, I remember thinking, 'Oh great, another occult game.' Hey, game developers? Not all of us are into ghosts, demons, and vampires. Some of us think they are icky.
The mechanics are standard HOG with adventure aspects. Nothing really stood out, other than the icky storyline.
This could have been a good game if not for the poor choice of storyline. I do not recommend it.
I don't recommend this game.

Secret Missions: Mata Hari and the Kaiser's Submarines
Join the notorious spy Mata Hari as she tries to uncover a secret German submarine base. Can you help her mission succeed?
This is an adventure light game. There are lots of items to search for, neat puzzles to solve, and an interesting storyline. I really enjoyed it. The graphics had a cartoon feel to them, but they were not off-putting. Overall it is a nice, light, and engaging game.
Pros - Interesting storyline Progress at your own pace More adventure aspects to the game play
This is a true adventure game. You play as Mina and have to search a deserted island for clues and items while trying to solve puzzles. The storyline is immersive; it really draws you in and you feel as if you are part of the story. When I think of adventure games, this is the type of game I think of. It is an excellent game and well worth the price in terms of play time.
Pros - Interesting storyline Good graphics Voice acting Immersive experience Progress as slow or as fast as you want to go
Cons - Can be a bit challenging to those not used to this style of game
I enjoyed both this game and it's prequel, and I highly recommend both.
This game is a lot of fun to play. The puzzles are interesting, and there is a nice mix of HOS with puzzles. The problem is the game takes 3 hours to complete, which is way too short for the price. I expect at least twice that for it to feel like I have gotten my money's worth.
I see why a blog walkthrough is not available. It would give away how short the game is. I do not recommend it for purchase as it is too short to make it worth the money. It's a shame because it could have been an excellent game.
I really enjoyed this game. It is a pure adventure game that involves you clicking around and combining objects to advance through the game. The storyline is not overly involving, but appears to be mostly silly for silliness' sake. I am okay with that.
I REALLY like the hints system. The walkthrough is basically built into the game. I love when games do that instead of trying to milk you separately for a 'strategy guide'. Classy!
Overall, this is an excellent game that I recommend for adventure game lovers.

I read the other reviews, and wanted to disagree. At first, the game starts out promising. You have to do some digging to figure out what is going on with your character. The hot spots are not obvious, so it looks like it might be challenging. But after 2 puzzles of 'place the letters in the grid so they fit', I became annoyed with this game. It's just not very enjoyable.
I don't mind the graphics so much; it has a nice old puzzle feel to it. The game mechanics are just clunky and unappealing somehow. The biggest puzzles involve placing letters in a grid, and the letters rotated when I didn't want them to. I will not be purchasing the game.
I am a fan of marble popper games, and this one uses similar game mechanics. You shoot a gem at other gems and make three to destroy the group.
What makes this game unique is that you can earn power ups over the course of the game to help speed you along in defeating a level. Breaking the gems builds up energy, which adds up to different power ups.
The game also has different patterns which challenge you to figure out the fastest way to destroy them. It also has bonus levels that extend the game play. A timed mode and a relaxed mode round out the game. I played it entirely through and enjoyed trying to best my time to earn a gold medal on each level. I have defeated all of the levels except one. It's a stinker.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable game, and I am looking forward to the replay as well.
