One of the worst games I've played in awhile. I usually enjoy a challange, but this game was rediculous. I can't remember the last time I had to use the Strategy Guide so much. The only reason I finished the game is because I paid for it. I do not understand how anyone could have enjoyed this game; the HOS were beyond difficult, the games were fairly easy, and the items needed just didn't make send, nor did the flow of the game. As stated, I was never so glad to finish a game as I was this game!
I don't recommend this game.

Every November, I anxiously await the latest release of the MCF series. I couldn't wait to try this newest MCF! Silly me, I purchased it before completing the trial version. I initially was enjoying the game. But, then as I moved away from the original scenes, items necessary didn't make sense. I got to a point where I could go no further. The guide only shows help on the area in which you currently are working. If you had missed something previously, the guide does not allow you to go back for assistance. The guide, as mentioned, is mostly useless, the hint is a joke, and no amount of searching would give me what I needed to continue. I came back to BFG forum to see if I could get some idea what in the heck I was supposed to do. Hopefully, I will find it there because I guarantee you that the guide/hints in the game will only frustrate you more. It looked so promising; wait for the SE if you must play this game. By then, there will be a walkthrough which has to be more help then any "help" you'll get in the CE. Sooooooooooooooo disappointed :(
I don't recommend this game.

I absolutely love this game! I like games that give me a challenge to 'beat the clock' and this one delivers, especially in the later levels. It took me at least 5-6 tries to finish the final levels. I am surprised at the 1 or 2 star reviews but it appears to me that those reveiws were based on the demo or lack of instructions. To me, that just made it that more challenging. I loved that this was not a CE but I spent just as much time trying to beat all the levels as any CE I have played. I cannot wait for the next Chapter in this Trilogy!!
I recommend this game!

I love HOG and this is truly one of the best I've played this year. The graphics were amazing!! When you had a doubloon to that guy at the chest, and he puts it onto the chest, those fingernails sent chills up my spine! Awesome graphics!! I found the storyline fun and exciting; couldn't wait to find out what happened. If I could give this game 6 stars, I would. Hope to see more from these developers!
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed the first 2 Awakenings. I liked the 3 installment even though I got a bit frustrated with the many mini-games and their complexity. This one is beyond frustrating!!! So much that had to be done didn't make sense at all. The mini-games were totally frustrating and didn't make sense. There was no way to figure out what you were supposed to do unless you looked at the strategy guide, and even then I skipped most of the mini-games. I've gotten to the epilogue but could now care less how this game ends. No game is worth this much frustration. If there is a future installment, I won't buy it. What a way to ruin a story that started with so much promise. The developers must think everyone who plays this game understands their thought processes. Sorry, I am not by any means stupid, but this game made me so angry, I wanted my money back!!!
I don't recommend this game.

I love HOG, and I love a game that gives me a challenge. But .. this game was rediculous in the back and forth and unending items to find. Had I bought this game before Citadels of Time, I wouldn't have bought Citadals. Unfortunately, I bought Citadals before this one. Citadals was a fun, challenging games without the ENDLESS back/forth jumps from one location to another. At least the items/back & forth made sense. This game was rediculous and frustrating. The ONLY saving grace of this game was the quick "hint" system that THANKFULLY moved me from one location to another. I will not be buying the next Echoes of the Past unless it is more like Citadels then Witches. If you like ENDLESS jumps from one location to another, and have an amazing recollection of where you have been and what you need, then this is the game for you. Otherwise, be prepared to just wanting to get it over with. I'm not even going to waste my time with the bonus section. Sorry, but I almost hated this game. Give me more Mystery Case Files or Puppet Show games which make a lot more sense and are not as frustrating as this game. NEXT!!
I don't recommend this game.

This was one of the best HOG's ever! The graphics were phenominal, the HO's great, and puzzles challenging without being too frustrating. Although I did have to skip a couple of the puzzles, they at least made me think w/out feeling they were impossible as many puzzles do. I replayed after finishing the Bonus round because I wanted to spend a bit more time looking at the graphics incorporated in the game. I was a bit confused at the end of the bonus round but hope this means there is a sequel coming!! This game should win 2012 best in many categories.
I recommend this game!

I truly enjoyed this game. I am now on the "Bonus" section #which, by the way, has no "help" so you are on your own. Is it as good as Royal Envoy, MKFTP, or Road to Rome? Hmmmmm ... maybe not, but still enjoyable challenge. I got gold all the way to the bonus levels, and am frustrated there is no help. In the bonus levels, your roll is reversed. Instead of beating the bad guys, you have to beat the good guys. I think it was well worth the price. I just like that I didn't have to see another person kidnapped or killed. Truly enjoyable game :#
I recommend this game!

I was so looking forward to this game, but have found so far to be disappointed. Yes, the visuals are outstanding. Yes, the challenge is tough. But, there is no logic to what to do next. The integrated strategy guide is confusing at best. I don't claim to be the best at these games, but I believe I do have some sense of logic. From the beginning, I found this game confusing. Depending on the strategy guide is useless. I am really disappointed so far but will keep trying.
I recommend this game!
