I'm not impressed. This game comes without a tutorial, no instructions and somehow appears unfinished. I'm lost for words that is how bad this game is. I'm not paying for developers who have me guessing what their game is supposed to be about.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is from a time even earlier then Ludwig, King of Bavaria who reclusively resided in Neuschwanstein?. It's terrible beyond believe. In the casual mode you can even have 'Click Fest' without being punished for doing so (and trust me, you'll need to hit in the dark).
The characters who are having conversations are more than wooden. They must have been carved out the type of wood that would sink in water.
I think this entire history, story and backdrop should never have been touched by these developers.
Mysteries of this scale, with a lining of historical facts and features should be left to Nancy Drew!

I just played about 15 minutes of the demo and already know that I'll be buying this. The game is a time management very much like the My Kingdom for the Princess series (the first three, the fourth one that is different). or Roads to Rome.
You have to collect resources, repair buildings, forge tools such as a fishing rod to fish in a lake. It can be played in three modes: Relaxed (not timed) and two timed modes of different difficult. The visual quality is excellent and so is the sound, but I imagine the tune will soon get to me and I hope it's not the only tune in the game.
The custom cursor was a bit sluggish for me, but that could be my system not agreeing totally with it. However, it can be changed to a normal cursor, which resolved this problem.
I played it once, I played it twice and I'll start again after writing this review. The game reminded me a bit of Fairy Godmother Tycoon, which is another of my favourites. In Cinema Tycoon 2 you have to help Mr Pickwick to restore his chain of cinemas. Plenty of decisions to make. Such as which films to show, which upgrades to buy when. Pricing tickets and snacks is crucial and reaching the goals can be quite tricky. The lack of a mission-restart is bit of a shortfall, but it challenges me even more to complete each mission on time to win all the trophies. Perhaps I'll do it tonight, as I think I found the recipe, which I obviously won't reveal here.
I'd like more of this type of tycoon games, please.

I bought this game last year and now you're putting it up as a free-play game??? I have decided to download this version yesterday. Apart from not being able to have more than one families (as it is possible it the original one that you have offered last year) and that there are a few extras in the store (apart from the 'buy virtual coins for real money there are also more furniture items, etc) the biggest difference in this one is: IT OVERWRITES THE ORIGINAL ONE! Earlier today when I wanted to check on my original family all I could find in my Games Manager was this new version. It would have been ever so nice, if you'd pointed this out somewhere. Oh well...my I-don't-know-which-generation of little people is gone now!
As for this game here, as I pointed out before: It's identical to the original one, apart from a few extras and the option to speed things up by buying virtual coins with real money. Trust me...you don't have to. Patience, patience, patience is the key to success in this game. It took me roughly a year to have all but one room in the house sorted. I find this game really enjoyable and the reasons why I only gave it one star here, is that I feel a bit annoyed having paid for this game and then finding that original game has been overridden by this one. So I feel slapped in the face twice!

Westward
Enter the rough and tumble world of Westward, where adventure and untold fortune await you in this strategy-based game.
If you like quirky adventures, then this is for you. It's 'old', so don't expect everything to be 'singing and dancing' and it also still seems to have a few problems, but these can be ironed out in the options-menu with a few adjustments.
it took me several days to complete it and I never got bored. You may want to save quite often. Plenty of quests to do and not many hints, let alone a full walkthrough, are available, but that makes it even more interesting. You need to build wisely in this one and not overpopulate your cities. Sacking workers from one job and making them another more pressing job is what this is all about. It's one the toughest strategy games I have so far played. Yes, you need to drag people across the land an awful lot and by doing this explore you open up the full map of the region. My tip: Build carefully, because you don't know if there isn't a building you fix with little resources and just take your time. This is not a game you can play in a few hours flat out. I bought Westward II today and this one is even tougher, but I love that level of challenge. Give it a try and by all means do read the conversations of the characters. They give you a lot of information that you won't be able to obtain by clicking through it.

Even though I am no a fan of Time Management games, I played the first three MKFTP and based on these experiences, nearly bought this one here without a trial. Thank Goodness I didn't!!! What on earth has happened to the previous fail-safe model?
Where MKFTP 1, 2 and 3 can be quite difficult, at least I felt they made sense when it comes to thinking about and working on a strategy for each level. This feeling I don't have here at all. Nothing makes any sense to me. I felt running about not knowing exactly why. What is this with running back to the same pile of resources and obstacles a few times?
The sliding of the islands I can live with, because I can turn it off, but this feature is another completely ridiculous addition. As is the 'Not-so-handsome-Prince' that keeps jumping into ones face.
Where I can understand that the developers want to take a games-series to the next level up, they have achieved the exact opposite with this one. I'm glad that MKFTP 4 wasn't MKFTP 1, otherwise I'd never looked into the other three.
I wonder, providing they plan on a fifth, how they can rectify this train crash of a game. It would have been a lot more fun if they'd left the way obstacles are removed and resources being collected as it was and added some whimsical minigames and new opponents. Fire spitting dragons that have to have water thrown at them from a pond that first needs building, instead of hacking away on rocks, e.g. and btw with this idea I came up as I wrote it, that fast! And unlike developers I don't even earn money for having ideas.
Where I highly recommend MKFTP 1,2 and 3 and really recommend the fourth in the series.
I really loved it after about 10 minutes. This CE offers oodles of extras: - You can play both characters (you actually have swap) - You can buy from two shops with items you can find in the game - There's also a zoo, but I didn't get there yet.
The game has three difficulties and an extra one in which you can customise everything to what you want. Brilliant feature! I found the characters a bit cartoonish. The graphics are not excellent, but good. I only played one HO scene and items aren't impossible to find, yet difficult. Also you sometimes need to complete or alter an item in order of being able to collect it. However, you can chose to play match 3 instead. I find the few puzzles I did quite innovative.
I have decided to buy this CE after about 10 minutes of play time. Really, really liking and enjoying it.
But when in the greatest fairytales of the world they have to resign to something like Indiana Jones and the music sounds like the sunniest days of italo Western, I really have to do draw a line! I do not like this game at all! the first have at least maintained their fairytale character. If you read this and want the real experience of 'Dark Parables' then try Briar Rose or The Exiiled Prince. I don't know what to say, one can only hope the next one is better. Perhaps the Dev's should have left us waiting just before Halloween each year? In my mind they lost everything by launching t wo DP's per year. But it's not them buying the games :-) I certainly drawo my line after having played this DP
