I tried my hardest to do the trial, but the tutorial of this game put me off it for life. Mahjong really isn't a game that needs such much of explaining and hinting, especially not if the actions of the hints are being forced on the player to be carried out and especially NOT when these enforced hints are ludicrous actions and therefore in my mind false.
It's a real shame because I was looking forward to innovative mahjong challenge.

I have played many Nancy Drew games and enjoyed all of them, but The Trail of the Twister was a huge let-down for me. It didn't even feel like a game but like a job and a job of the worst kind. It's part of most ND games having to do chores, but in this one here it's taking the biscuit! Not only are the characters overly stroppy, but some of the chores made want to wretch. I had to catch colonies of mice...ALIVE :-S. So if you have a fear of rodents, then don't go for this game, because they look like rats disguised as mice *yuk :-(. Most instructions by these high flying storm chasers are in their own jargon and if you don't write them down (I played senior mode, so no task list) then be prepared for endless 'No, I can't to sleep yet, I still have things to do' or Debbie (your kind of line manager) reminding you that you still have things to do and either have to figure it out for yourself or consult a walkthrough to find out what you could have missed. To top it, once Nancy caught the culprit he knocked her unconscious, at which point I was asking myself why male violence against women has to be part of any game.
I'm sorry, but I really did not enjoy The Trail of the Twister one little bit and I can't recommend it. So I repeat: If you never played a Nancy Drew game before, then don't start with this one, as it might put you off ND games for life and you may miss out on the great majority of them.
I bought this yesterday after reading the reviews about it and found myself thinking: "Na!!! Can't be as hard as they say!" How wrong I was. The puzzles are seriously tough, so do believe what all the other reviewers say. And not only that, but you have to crack one safe after the other. I started playing yesterday evening and so far only managed to open two safes.
The solutions are logical and really stimulate the brain to the point of pain. The game doesn't have a skip feature or hint button. You can gather some information by reading some letters that you can find and sometimes the character gives you tip. Like in my second puzzle he said: "The only hole reachable seems to be the one on the right". At least that made me aware that I was on the right track, but knowing it and doing it are two different things in this game. Somebody mentioned in a review to observe how some of the puzzles react and I can also recommend to do that.
The mansion is interesting, graphics are clear. The storyline is very brief, but you have enough on your plate with the puzzles so you won't miss it. There is a map which highlights all areas of interest (red x for something that still needs doing, green x for something that is done) and a chip with a dollar sign tells you your location. The music gives a good atmosphere and the voice of the character is so nice that I wish he'd talk a bit more.
For me the game is great value for money, because I love solving puzzles and I have the feeling that this game may keep me busy for years :-)
If you are after a serious brain teaser and don't get frustrated easily then this is game is for you. Great fun if you find a puzzle partner to work the solutions out, btw.
This is an awesome pic-cross game with a few twists. Most games of this genre will give you a break with puzzles of a different kind, but in other games I found them rather tedious unlike in this one here. It has HO scenes and in my free trial I also came across a logic puzzle in which I had to fit various shapes into a certain area. There are bonuses to collect from the tiles, but look carefully before collecting them, because the area there appear on can be a positive or a negative tile, so make sure you use the correct tool (hand or hook). There are also awards to be won.
The reviewer BudSmellman mentioned that there is the possibility that you can come across puzzles that have to two correct solutions. I haven't come across this in the time I played and should I do, then I'll be very puzzled :-). Which doesn't mean that this can't happen, because I am certain the reviewer didn't imagine it and should I run into this problem, then I have to agree with BudSmellman and say that they didn't stick to the rule book that all games of this genre follow.
The tiles are beautifully coloured which makes the game experience really enjoyable. I can't find any faults with the graphics, either in the puzzles themselves or in the HO scenes. The music is very soothing and happy in mood. I will buy this game today and with over 200 levels I am looking forward to many hours if not weeks of mind boggling fun. I own a couple of games from this genre, but this one is the best of them all and I hope the developers treat us to more in the future.
This is a tower defense game in which you have to defend your Christmas Trees from an onslaught of bugs. Lots of levels (sorry, forgot to count them and my free trial has just finished, so I can't go back) with increasing difficulty.
In a nutshell this game is the same then its prequel "Garden Rescue". The layout of the levels are slightly different, Some of the bugs in the winter edition wear knitted woolly clothes which is really cute and I have observed that the ones wearing knit wear are slightly stronger than the ones who take the brunt of the freezing conditions.
The game really is great fun, but optically nothing much has changed, apart from that you know defend Christmas Trees instead of strawberries, some of the bugs come dressed and landscape is a winter scene with snow and ice. The music is exactly the same than in Garden Rescue and I really think it is a shame that the developers didn't make the effort to treat the player to some Jingle Bells. After all they called it 'Christmas Edition' themselves. So I think this would have been a nice touch.
Don't expect lots of action. This is a tower defense game and all you do is to strategically place weapons, which are also exactly the same than in the first game (corn shooter, pea shooter etc). After that you watch and observe to see if your tactic works and if it doesn't you have the opportunity to intervene by adding a weapon or some of the traps you can collect along the way.
I am not yet sure if I will buy this edition, because I already own the first one and this is purely down to the lack of effort to make this edition a touch more Christmassy by using more appropriate music and changing the weapons to e.g. needle spitting pine cones and snowball throwing elves. However, I did rate it five out five on everything, because it is a great tower defense game whether or not it meets my expectations regarding music and weapons.
I can highly recommend it but try before you buy, especially if you never played a game from this genre.
A Happy Christmas 2012 and a great New Year to everybody.

Downloaded the trial, played for about five minutes and bought it! I've got one the other two Youda Farmer games and to be honest, the first one I only completed on my very old PC because on that one the game runs in slow motion. These games are seriously fast and require quick eyes, quick decisions and even quicker mouse movements. So I really can appreciate that these TM games aren't for everybody's taste as the game play can be quite stressful but that's exactly what I love about them.
Unlike one reviewer I didn't find the graphics primitive at all, as they were clearly created without using hammer and chisel :-). The only scene I came across was a winter scene and snow is notoriously difficult to do (painting or drawing) but whoever did it did a great job imho.
Can't say much more, as I only played for a very short while, but for D/D price really good value for money.

The storyline is quite good: Rich dad's two young adult children think that 'son' and 'daughter' is an occupation. So he gets in touch with some organisation that will teach them that a 'career' is something completely different and under false pretences they get lured to a remote island. There they have to work to earn their tickets back home.
So far, so good, but the rest didn't really impress me. I found the gameplay quite awkward. You have to take orders from customers with varying levels of patience, order cocktails from the bar (they take a little time to make), fetch ice creams and cans of pop and I got as far as having to pick a fruit, put it into some juicer (both the juicer and the growing of the fruits take a little time) and light fireworks. The latter you can do once you have collected enough love hearts from happy customers, which you strangely have to pick off the floor. In fact these customers seem to throw everything on the floor: Money, your tips, the hearts...you name it, they don't seem to now how to leave things on their tables. The only good thing about that is that you don't have to click everything off the floor individually, you just have to move the mouse over it to pick it up. You can buy the usual improvements for you cocktail bar with the money you're making and you can buy some antiques that are supposed to help you getting back home.
I found the gameplay extremely awkward and couldn't get any flow into it, which made it extremely hard to chain the actions. Not being able to pre-prepare any cocktails or other concoctions really didn't help.

I bought this game when it was first launched here on BFG and really enjoyed it. Compared with the modern games of this genre, I'd describe it as 'Soft Adventure HOG'.
The game gives a feel of Victorian times. For some times when I think Victorian, I think: "Grey, Black, White, Braun, Rain, Mourning, Desperation, Murders, Mysteries". Not necessarily in this order, but this collection of words pretty much reflects what I associate with the term and so do graphics and sound. But that is not a bad thing as both elements of the game really go well.
It's been a while since I played it, but I remember the HOG scenes being ok what concerns visualising items, but I remember coming across some items that I really couldn't make much sense of, such as "3 Face". I was wondering back then if this was a translation issue, but I don't think it is. My feeling is they have used some words and terms from Victorian times we today no longer really use nowadays and this made it all the more interesting for me. There are two difficulties (Casual and Expert), but be warned that playing in expert mode it takes a looooooooooooong time for the hints to recharge in this one.
There are some elements going into the Adventure HOG / IHOG genre we so often find with the modern games. But the game seems to be from the time when the transition from straight HOG to a more adventurous game play took place. So you'll need to unlock a few doors and solve a few puzzles, but nothing like in the more recent games. It has voice overs and the story line is well written.
I can highly recommend this game and especially for the price of today's Daily Deal, but I would advise to try it first.

I really enjoyed the demo of this. Wonderful scenes, the voice overs are great. The developers have achieved that one really feels to be in Venice. The puzzles can be challenging, I had terrible problems with the first one I ran into and it took me ages to figure out how to set the code for the door lock. The HOS scenes are very well done. Nothing is impossible to find. I loved the characters and their movements. Excellently programmed. A really impressive game. I would have bought this one, especially today as it came up as the first part of the 10th anniversary sales campaign, but I won't, because one the first reviewers let slip how the game ends and how to take out an enemy, so sadly I now see little reason to buy the game :-(.
However, I can highly recommend it.
I recommend this game!

I read the title and was really hoping for an adventure with medieval knights in shining armour and what did I get? A straight HOG with boring puzzles, boring locations (Moroccan market, aircraft hangar, café) and a futile attempt to make the whole exiting by naming items to find as "living escargot" or "writes with ink". And to top it they have decided that in each scene you need to find two crowns to unlock some bizarre bonus features after completion of the game. One of the bonus features being the ability to play the never ending 'Find and Seek' version of this game. I was glad when the demo was over and only played the full hour, because I was hoping for a drastic turn of the game. The title is completely misleading, as there's nothing "amazing" about it, no "riddle" as such to solve and not a single "knight" in sight, let alone two of them.
