I have been looking for a good solitaire game here at BFG. The good news is that there is a varied selection of games BUT the bad news is that the game presentation is horrible. The technical aspects of the game certainly need a lot of work before I would even consider it ready to play.
There is no widescreen option for the game, which is unheard of in today's market. The cards are very small and for those gamers who have visual issues the game will not work.
At least one other reviewer was able to play the game and mentioned that she actually played several different games and for that alone I think she deserves an award.
The game has very small cards, a user interface that is NOT user friendly and a terrible sound package so I uninstalled it almost immediately. Unfortunately, my hopes were dashed and this is not the wonderful game I expected. There are far better solitaire games to be found here at BFG and many of them are quite a bit of fun and with all of them exceeding what is offered in Solitaire 330 Deluxe. There are not many games here at BFG where I would ever suggest that you don’t try the demo but this game is so bad, I recommend that you don’t waste your time.
I was so pleasantly when another game in a series that I love was released – Lost Lands Ice Spell. The series is right at the top of my favorite series and I immediately grabbed the Ice Spell without bothering to try the demo first. This developer puts together some of the best games I have ever played and the Lost Lands games have all been excellent. Other games in the series are the Dark Overlord, the Four Horsemen, the Golden Curse, and the Wanderer.
While working the night shift at a museum, the security guard’s curiosity accidentally sets off a chain of events that finds our heroine, Susan, once again in the Lost Lands. When Susan first arrived in the Lost Lands she learned that she is a Keeper called the Warmaiden. Now whenever trouble rears its head in the Lost Lands, the mage Maaron manages to whisk Susan away from her comfy home to solve whatever mischief might be afoot. Start this new adventure where the lands have overtaken by an icy spell. Could it have anything to do with that huge horn in the museum? Joining Susan on her adventure are Maaron and Folnur the dwarf mechanic who was your companion on another foray into the Lost Lands. Will you and your friends be able to save the Lands once again and find out who, or what is behind the ice that has shrouded the lands in a seemingly endless winter?
Not only Lost Lands but other games from this developer use the progressive silhouette type of HOP scenes and the ones in Ice Spell are excellent. I enjoy finding the silhouette items and then figuring out where to use them in order to complete each scene but I must admit that the silhouette type of HOP is not my favorite and I really wish that there was a bit more variety with the HOPS. Recently this developer presented another game and that one did get away from the silhouette scenes and included more variety, which I would like to see in the Lost Lands series. Even though the HOPS are a bit redundant, the puzzles are excellent and some even seem a bit more challenging – at least for me. I had no trouble with the first puzzle during the first two levels but when it came to the last one I couldn’t seem to get the timing right and ended up skipping it. I loved the puzzle where we need to shovel snow to free a ladder because it is tricky to get it right. I am enjoying the mix of puzzles with some seeming different from those we always see. At least the game has a great mix of difficulty so there is something for everyone.
Okay, I admit that I am a sucker for the CE version of HOPA games not only because of the in game strategy guide but because I love finding the collectibles that are hidden in each scene. The Lost Lands games and other games from this developer always offer a ton of extra goodies and In Ice Spell those collectibles include: 7 stained glass fragments, 8 icicles, 7 mittens, 8 owls, 12 golden horse statues, and 13 manuscripts. There are also 30 morphing objects to locate. While you are busy finding all of those collectibles and morphing objects you can also earn 21 achievements. There are 14 wallpapers, 15 concept art, 17 videos, and 8 soundtracks, replay of 19 mini-games, a 57-page strategy guide, and a bonus game.
I guess I have said it enough times in this review that you get that I really like the Lost Land series. I did buy the game immediately and have no regrets, except that I had to tear myself away from the game to write my review. I own every game from this developer whose offerings include Lost Lands, New York Mysteries, Darkness and Flame, The Legacy Forgotten Gates, and Forbidden Secrets Alien Town. If you are looking for a great game I can recommend some of those listed above as well as today’s game. As always, please try the demo to see if you will enjoy this game as well. Happy Gaming!
While going back into all of the games that I have on my “favorite games” list I found 9: The Dark Side marked as a game that I love. In replaying the game, I remembered why this is one of my favorite games. The gameplay is excellent. The graphics and cutscenes are crystal clear. The voice overs are extremely good and the music is almost epic.
The CE version of this game contains the in-game strategy guide and a few other extras such as wallpapers, concept artwork, achievements, music and cutscenes. I would suggest the CE because of the built-in strategy guide that does provide some extra help for those who are new to the HOPA genre.
In playing these older games, I love that almost every one of them had an excellent diary or journal. The diary always contains helpful information that I might have missed earlier. Although there is no map, it really isn’t needed as the game is easy to navigate. The HO scenes are excellent and I certainly found the puzzles a bit challenging although not daunting. All in all, when replaying the game, I can see why it is on the list of my favorite games. As always, please try the demo to see if 9: The Darkside is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Even though I claim not to be a fan of the TM genre, I must admit that there are some very good TM games that I really enjoy. Lately after suffering a meltdown of boredom with the HOPA type games, in desperation I turned to my older TM games. I have to say the Hercules games and in particular Kids of Hellas are a hoot to play. It is quite a bit of fun to meet the goals and overcome the challenges that come my way as I help Hercules save the kids. I am not good at TM games and am a self-avowed hater of anything that reeks of “beat the clock”. I had enough of TM with professional deadlines to last a lifetime when I was working so now I kick back and totally avoid any type of game that pits me against a clock.
What I love about 12 Labours of Hercules is the Relaxed mode of gameplay where I can play at my own pace. I know that gamers who dislike HOPA games because they say they are all alike don’t acknowledge the same feelings towards TM games because in reality they are virtually the same premise because you are always looking for food, constructing roads or buildings of various types, or completing other tasks to reach your goal. The Hercules games are a lot of fun and I am one day going to play them again at a higher level of difficulty. For now I am simply enjoying the humor and gameplay and the fun that is built into these games. Happy Gaming!
Going back and playing older HOP games can sometimes be an eye-opener. While going through my list of games I didn’t really remember playing this one so thought I would give it a try. Well what a surprise. Although the graphics are done in a cartoonish style they are nevertheless crisp, clear and colorful. The game was published by an excellent top developer who has created some terrific games and series in the past.
Since I am writing this review a lot later than others that have been posted I’m not going to go into the storyline but will simply say that this is definitely a not that you shouldn’t miss. Once I started playing the game, I couldn’t stop and enjoyed every minute. I have played hundreds of HOPA games and recently they have been crank ‘em out, cookie-cutter clones of every other game. Because of my boredom with these newer games I thought I would take a look back and I am so very happy that I did. 9 Clues The Secret of Serpent Creek is an excellent whodunit mystery game. Please give the demo a try to see if you will enjoy this game as much as I do. Happy gaming!
4 Elements is probably one of the most addictive and best match 3 games I own. IMHO, it is hard to beat the fun that is built into the game and the challenge of getting a high score. If you are looking for a beautiful game and one that is relaxing even as you try to make the best possible matches, then this is the game for you. Happy Gaming!

I’ve recently been revisiting some of the games I have purchased in past years as I have become so bored with games that basically have become nothing but cookie-cutter serials with the same theme over and over and over again. 7 Roses A Darkness Rises is a game I purchased in 2016 so it was only a year ago and I suspect that it is a game I picked up with a coupon code.
Although 7 Roses a Darkness Rises follows that favorite BFG theme of some dark evil wanting to take over the world I still found the artwork beautiful and there did not seem to be a lot of hand-holding something that I have recently come to dislike in HOPA games. As the game begins we see a young woman who is saying goodbye to her precious infant in order to save the child from a dark wizard. As the child gently sails away from the river bank her mother puts an amulet in her cradle. Fast forward and Amy is now a young woman who has been raised by an elder. Amy lives a rather idyllic life aside from those haunting nightmares but soon she may learn the reason why her dreams are so haunting. We play the game as Amy and now we must undertake a journey to save the land from the Darkness that is now returning.
The graphics are lovely but for me the game would only open in a standard resolution and would not stretch to fit my large screen monitor. Unfortunately I did have other technical difficulties that made the game very difficult to play. The game does have a journal that is something I personally enjoy in my games. In the “old days” every game came with an excellent journal or diary but those were soon replaced by videos and very few games offer a wonderful diary now.
All in all, 7 Roses is not a terrible game it is simply one that didn’t work as well on my computer. It is unfortunate because it looks like it is a terrific little game. Even though it is one I didn’t get to enjoy, please try the demo to see if 7 Roses a Darkness Rises is a game that you will enjoy. Happy Gaming!
Once upon a time in the small, undistinguished town of Silentville people started disappearing. Help uncover the mystery behind these disappearances and save the town from a curse!
Recently, because so many hidden-object games have become very cookie-cutter, I decided to go back and play some of my older games. I have been playing HOPA games for a long, long time and during that time I have played some terrific games and some not so terrific. So going through my list, I remembered that I really enjoyed the challenge of 1 Moment of Time Silentville. This game is not your everyday easy, do this and then things automatically fall into place type of game. Rather it is one of those games where you need to think, follow the clues and then make your way to a great gaming experience. Granted, this game is not for everyone – particularly if you are accustomed the all the hand-holding and black bar tips that more or less lead you to a step-by-step finale in a game. If you are ready for a challenge and want something different, then I highly recommend this game. Since there are so many reviews posted that will provide more detail on the game, I am not going to rehash what is currently available. I will simply say that in replaying this game, I enjoyed putting on my thinking-cap and solving the mystery of Silentville. Happy gaming!
