For the first time in a long time I deleted a game after playing the demo. I found the story line silly and the graphics poor. I really enjoyed the first Labyrinths of the World but this one just irritated me.
While I enjoy playing HOGs I found this game a great deal of fun. It was all story line and action. I bit grisly in its true to life depiction, but enjoyable all the same. Kept me guessing until the end.

I've told myself I won't rate a game a 5 unless it really, really earn it. Well this game does that in spades. The story line is great, the graphics wonderful, the audio engaging, and the puzzles fun. The length of the game was great. I'll warn you now, it ends with a cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next in the series!
My usual complaint with HOGs is that you are required to search for nonsense items. Not this game. The HOS have you looking for items that fit perfectly into the story. The game is LONG and the puzzles are different. The graphics are great. The story is engaging. This appears to be the first in the NY Mysteries series. Can't wait to get the others!
For those who get a bit tired of excessive use of HOS this might be the game for you. There are some interesting new puzzles. None of them terribly challenging, however. Still, I spent an enjoyable afternoon playing and that's what it's all about.
My "but" is that I got really, really, tired of "what can I do here?" and "I've got to consider my options" and all the other repetitive and unhelpful phrases that popped up when I clicked on an area. Never thought I'd long for the more obvious "a piece is missing", or "I need to find the key" but I sure did!
Other than that I enjoyed the game. The story line is good. The game length is good. The difficulty of the puzzles was enough to be a challenge without too many skips or resorts to the hint button.
I thought the art work was very good, as well as the music. Thoroughly enjoyable.
I haven't given a 5 rating in a while but this one earns it. The story line was VERY different. And while I usually hate the dark, dank, dreary, and dirty they fit very well into this story so I didn't mind them. The puzzles were a bit on the easy side, but I was so interested to progress in the game I didn't mind. It is a bit on the short side - about 3.5 hours for me but I really enjoyed the play.
I thought the puzzles were too easy. Some of the graphics in the HOS too simplistic and childish and waaaay too easy. On the positive side game length was good and I did enjoy playing it. It crashed twice but I just restarted the game and it continued. There was one interesting plot twist that I thought rather good.
Interesting story line. Decent graphics. Good game length. Mostly HOS but some new takes on old puzzles. No map to help though. Hint either said "nothing to do" or pointed out an as yet unresolved area whether you had the required item to resolve or not. Voice over without lips of speaker moving was a bit disconcerting. Still, all and all I enjoyed playing it.
