Ugh, what is happening to the Margrave series? I really think I prefer the first, simple as it was. Awful actors, annoying voiceovers, wailing music, bizarre (not in a good way) and incomprehensible content. What's with the smug chatty strategy guide? No, we don't care what went on "behind the scenes". I have much more to say but apparently BFG is sensitive about this game, and I was censored. skip this one.
Prepare for a mind-bending journey into the realm of the weird in Haunted Halls: Revenge of Dr. Blackmore! Brace yourself for the unexpected in this exciting Hidden Object adventure!
Okay, it's not as creepy as the first, which is the best of the series. HOS are okay, but the minigames are scarce and childishly easy, what gives? Continues the story nicely. Totally a sucker for the animals that this developer often adds to their games. I really hate voiceovers, was glad to see a control to turn them off, but still got occasional voiceovers during the game. Hello developers, turning off voiceovers means NO voiceovers. Played on hard mode and had no trouble figuring out where to go, what to do next. Let's hope they end the series here.
I wanted to give it a 3, but decided to be generous as it is much better than the predecessors, but still lacking some things. HOGs are better, still could use more minigames. interesting areas to explore, and not always obvious where to go next. Still too much leading if you are used to expert modes. Nice to be able to turn off the voices and music. Sisters of the Red Riding Hood are athletic, tough warrior protectors? I don't think so. The girl's outfits and poses are more suitable for a brothel than the forest, obviously for that adolescent male audience, (hence my poor visual rating). And wow what stamina- the girls are "too weak and tired to move" after being captured, which seemed to only involve a short wagon ride to the prison. Someone call the Powerpuff girls to rescue them! Ignoring that ridiculousness, it's still a good game of decent length.
well, if you like fragmented hidden object games (FROG) this is for you! You basically just move from scene to scene and play FROGs. I found it pretty tedious after awhile. Minigames are scarce, the best are the bonus games you get to play after you finish. Story is predictable, not very well thought out for having a template to follow (Sleeping Beauty). Only one mode of play, you are "awarded" Hard Mode after finishing the game, not about to play this whole game again! NO strategy guide, not that you need one. had to play on mute, because there was no way to turn off the voiceovers, so can't comment on the audio. not worth the CE price in my opinion.
this is a good HOG, minigames are on the easy side, the whole game is a decent length. As one who dislikes human actors in a game, I appreciate that the developers just used them as stills and I didn't have to suffer through "acting" scenes. Unfortunately the music is awful at times, like the beginning song and the caterwauling of the spirit animals. So nice that I could turn it off. Story continues the Margrave plot nicely, a little sappy. There are some neat elements like the shadowlocks that are a unique original touch. The bonus game is quite short and is a rough tie in to the next chapter. All in all it is worth the CE price.
very good HOG with some unique minigames, very good length. highly recommend the CE as the bonus game adds a nice twist to the story. I always like being able to collect special objects during the game, and this has 2 types to collect, as long as you play casual or advanced. I played advanced so I could collect both, otherwise it is equal to expert in toughness, if you don't skip games. Also nice to have another (rare) female lead character without ridiculously sexy clothing or plunging cleavage. Only thing I found annoying was the lead character nodding at me when I did something right. Love that there are no human "actors", and that you can turn off the voiceovers. Nice tie of past and present murder investigations. Thanks Developers, you are one of my favorites!
I'm not sure why Syberia 1 and 2 were rereleased as Syberia Part 1 and Syberia Part 2. They did some tweaking, esp of the controls, but I prefer the original versions. This is such a unique, spellbinding, and touching game trilogy. Unbelievably a game where I actually like the voiceovers and music (I usually mute those, the only other series where I like it is Ravenhearst). It is a pure adventure game, lots to do, beautiful graphics and wonderful automatons. Yes the graphics are a little dated but it adds to the charm. Also, for a rarity, a realistic lead female character not dressed with skin tight clothing and plunging necklines. There is nothing like Syberia, I highly recommend it and can't wait to play Part 3!
The game is a really good length for a SE, lots of hidden object scenes, pretty easy minigames, lots of places to explore. Like the story and the artwork. If you are looking for creepy this is fairly light, but still fun game, and not too sickeningly fairy tale in graphics. Very disappointed in the controls, however. The cursor often lags, especially in minigames, and in most gameplay if you don't position your cursor/game piece EXACTLY on the millimeter the game wants it won't work. Very frustrating factor in an otherwise good game, definitely lowered my rating.
I recommend this game!

Fun spooky game, different than most vampire plots.
I got more than I expected from this SE! Lots of fun hidden object scenes and mini games, lots of fun tasks to complete. Loved the comments of my player, also loved the bats when you jump from scene to scene, great to have that option too ! The characters are a little stilted, but I'd rather have that than human "actors" and voiceovers. The rest of the graphics are nicely creepy and gothic. played on expert mode, nice not to have sparkles or obvious black box hints. will definitely buy the sequel!
strange that this game didn't have any HOG scenes, considering the developers. The plot was nicely creepy, the artwork/graphics the same.Loved all the scary plant monsters with multiple eyes. My low rating is influenced by the minigames , all were so so so so easy, what a disappointment. Played on expert mode and THANK YOU developers for having a mode without all those pathetic black box hints. Loved the" moving" pictures. Hated the overdramatic, untalented human "actors". My continuing complaint: if this developer wasn't so busy turning out games as fast as possible this could have been a real quality, remarkable game. As it is, I'm not sure it's worth the CE price. Summary: creepy gothic, very easy, nice little touches, not upset that I bought it, but don't expect anything close to Ravenhearst.
