This was more fun than I thought it would be, but not as good as the first and second. The minigames were childish and more cute than clever. It seems the big difference between the CE and SE is one scene and maybe some hidden animals to find, so I would buy the SE. I do like the unique artwork of the Drawn Series. A good but not great game, and if you are looking for a challenge, this isn't it.

I expected much more from the third game in the series, and a CE to boot. The plot has holes so big you could drive a truck through them, e.g. isn't it amazing a guy in a castle prison can just send messages whereever and whenever he wants, including to the police? I also wish the developers would decide how the characters are going to look, this is the 3rd different look for them. No special fun things in this games, just the usual hidden object scenes and moderately easy games. If you are going to play it, wait for the SE.
the first game in a series of 3( so far), it's a little rough but a good game. I played Curse of the Opera first ( and I like that game better) so it was a little hard to make the stories mesh. There is only 1 level of play which was disappointing. Dislike how you can't turn off the annoying music or the voices (if you unclick the voiceover tab you still get voices). lots of good hidden object scenes, plot a little disjointed but okay. Could have been creepier. Again too much leading you by clues, but worth playing.
became more and more disappointed as I played this game. played on hardest mode, wasn't challenged at all. The minigames and tasks are very routine and made for children, like making a coat through several steps. The "demon" looks like a hasbeen hard rock lead singer, and with dragonfly wings?? Not exactly the stuff of nightmares. Note to developers: dryads are wood nymphs, not fauns! Best I can say is the length was decent for a CE. If there is a sequel, it better be much improved or I won't be buying it.
played on hardcore: I guess the developers don't understand the meaning of the word. Easy puzzles and easy hidden object scenes. maybe hardcore for beginners? The voices were annoying, turned them off and the music. And what is with the ugliness-- ugly children, ugly animals, ugly angels, etc? The developers need to learn the difference between creepy and just plain ugly. Plot was borrrrrring. Half way through the game I couldn't wait to be done, just became tedious. Going to skip the next ERS game, just more and more disappointed every time I play one of their games. getting sappier, less creative and easier all the time.
I didn't expect to like this game as much as I did. Story is unique and interesting. love the little extra graphics in the hidden object scenes, you can tell the developers took some extra effort. Puzzles could have been harder but still enjoyable. Also love the creepy overtones. Good game!

This game was a very good length for the money, and had many hidden object scenes and minigames. played it on advanced instead of hardcore so I could skip the tedious "move the little squares" puzzles, otherwise a good variety. there was also too many unasked for clues in the comments, wish I could have turned them off. A lot of fun to play despite some minor glitches.

I beta'd this, and now having played the final version am disappointed that the same problems are there. The plot is odd and seems to change, Chapters 1 and 2 might as well be different stories, and the bonus game tries but fails to tie everything together. Also so many missed opportunities for minigames. Only really unique and bright spot was the twist on the hidden object game, wish they had done more of that. Had to pick between recommending or not, so I chose yes, but it is a very lukewarm recommendation.
why am I always a little disappointed with ERS games? This was too short for a collectors edition, too easy ( and I played the hard option) and too sketchy in plot. I did like the way the game didn't lead you if you played the hard version. a typical ok-but-not-great game from this developer.
Good hidden object scenes, I also like how you have to revisit areas to use objects found in another. voices are annoying, plot is disjointed. The major flaw is much too much direction, e.g. you happen upon something and the game comment tells you what you need to do. I play these games to find that out for myself! The Hard level was pretty easy. I did like the rune box puzzles, but they could have been harder. In the CE the "bonus scene" is the end of the game, not really a bonus scene at all, and borrows liberally from Alice in Wonderland and Xanth. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but I can't, so it gets 3 stars. Beginning and intermediate gamers will probably like this game a lot.
