Such a wonderfully creepy game, even a little gross at times (which I love!). Some of the comments in the game remind me of the MCF Ravenhearst games, which are the classic creepy HOPAS. The minigames were different and good, the HOS fun, and I enjoyed the game enough to forgive them for not having a control to turn off voices. I could have done without the inane rhymes in the minigames (yes I understand it was based on nursery rhymes, but still). The plot has a few odd jumps, but overall flows well. Highly recommended for those who love creepy games.
This game is just okay, just an average CE. It is really slow paced, seems to be based on an eastern European type fairy tale. It is not scary or creepy in the least. There isn't much challenge, even on the hardest mode. You get leading black box comments, and every time your pet can help you you are told "I think my little friend can help me with this" as soon as you find an object. There are few minigames (very easy) and HOS are standard with easy to find objects. The game gets repetitive very fast, almost every scene is "too dark" and you need to find some lighting method. You also have a magic brush to thaw things, but using it consists of the boring activity of sweeping it over the whole scene that needs to be thawed. The collectibles are easy to see coins so you can buy things for your pet. The things are rather odd, though, strange things to by for a pet and really not that much fun. Glad I got it on sale, doubt the CE is that much better than the SE will be, I would wait and get that on sale if you really want to play this game. I'm really on the fence of recommending it, but I will say no to the CE, maybe to the SE.
First off, yes, the baby dragon is adorable, and gets 5 stars for that! As for the game, it is a fun game, full of interesting minigames and HOS. I played on expert and there was some challenge. You can turn off any/all sounds and the interactive map. FINALLY a developer who doesn't give you black box hints on expert mode, thank you thank you! The game is a decent length, Strategy guide is well done. Collectible items are not obvious, as in most of the recent games. The storyline is a little strange, with a juxtaposition of modern and fairy tale that doesn't always makes sense, but instead of getting worked up about that I would advise you to just relax and enjoy the game. I'd get the CE, I did like the bonus game, but you don't need it to enjoy the regular game.
I'm not a big Match 3 fan, but I do like the games that give you something to build/decorate, like Fishdom 3 and this one. This is an enjoyable game that gets more difficult as it goes. You get to buy things to decorate your lawn for Halloween. Based on how much I've played it, it is a lot of fun!
I hope this developer will make another game soon, hopefully a CE with more levels and more things to do.
This game gets a 5 for creativity and inventiveness. The HOS are not the usual, and there are different types to keep your interest. The game is nice and long with basically 2 bonus games, one traditional and then some extra play which is not just repeating the minigames and HOS scenes. Some of the minigames are the usual, and others have a new twist. I had no trouble with them even on the hardest mode. I also love how this developer lets you customize your difficulty level. Turned off music and vos, can't comment on those. There are 2 types of collectibles, one you can't access until you've finished the game and some of the bonus games. That made it tedious for me, would have preferred to find them during the regular game. The plot is not the most cohesive, but my advice is not to analyze it too closely and just enjoy the game. Well worth the CE price, and can't wait for the next one!
I really like the Otherworld games, and this is a good next chapter . Beautiful fantasy graphics as always, I really like this developer's imagination. Voiceovers and music can be turned off, always a plus for me. HOS scenes are fun, and some games actually have a little challenge. Played on hardcore and easily finished the game. Strategy guide keeps pace, but doesn't have solutions to games, just the final solution. Game is a very good length, well worth the CE price. Plot fits in nicely with the series, but it's hard to understand why the main character keeps having to regain the "Sight". Collectibles are fairly obvious but beautiful. bonus epilogue sets up the next game. I recommend this whole series for adults who like fantasy games with a twist.
I recommend this game!

Paranormal State: Poison Spring
Thrills abound as the ghost-hunters from the hit A&E TV show "Paranormal State" race to solve terrifying Civil War hauntings.
Well, at least they warned me in the description. Yes this game is definitely clear cut, even on "extreme" mode it tells you exactly what to do with directions and leading comments. There is a Scooby Doo like team of young adults chasing ghosts, and for some reason when they talk you get a large face profile of the character, annoying. There is no way to turn off the voiceovers unless you turn off all the sound. Played a couple of HOS, very easy. Do not recommend this game for anyone with even a little experience, unless you like to be led by the nose. Maybe it's for preteens?
This game gets a 5 for cleverness and creativity. There are so many little extra details to enjoy, like a baby bird tossing seeds in the air and catching them in his mouth instead of just eating them. There also is a nice creepy overtone to the game. This is a HOPA, and there aren't too many HOS. The minigames are really creative, but not too challenging, even on hardcore mode. In fact, there isn't much challenge, due to the leading black box comments and several unneeded hints like drawings near the object that tell you exactly what to do. Maybe that's okay on easy mode, but on hardcore? The collectibles are obvious, and for every 3-4 you find you get to watch a "cinema" that is supposed to help explain the background and story. These little cutscenes are really disjointed though, like there are some scenes missing. The usual three levels of play, all sounds(music, voice, environment, effects) can be off or on as you want. As I always turn off voices and music, can't comment on those. The game is a good length as is the bonus game. There is also this "Hall of Memories" additional gameplay, but it consists mostly of repeating HOS and minigames from the regular game. Hope this developer puts out more creative games like this, only with more challenge!
This review is based on the demo, I couldn't take anymore. Does this developer understand the meaning of "hardcore mode" or "challenging"? Even on hardcore mode, the black box comments are so leading it takes away any fun from the game. "The box is locked where is my key" "I can use the fire to heat things up" etc. If that weren't bad enough, there is also the addition of human "actors" interspersed throughout the game, which adds nothing. The storyline has also been done to death. Skip this one.
I've played all the Haunted Hotels, and I like how they are a series yet different. This one has a great creepy plot, but it lags about halfway through the game, and ends with a whimper not a bang. Graphics are macabre, and great that there are no human "actors". I'll take the stiff movements over that any day. Voiceovers can be and were turned off. HOS are good and plentiful. Minigames are the usual, and not too hard. It's a little disappointing that your partner hands you some things you need, would have been better to have to find them. There are collectibles of a sort, not as fun as morphing objects but still fun. The bonus game is a decent length, and this game is worth the CE price.
