I loved this game! Plenty of the things I look for: HO's and puzzles, music and sound and voice-over that makes sense, nothing annoying or tiresome, very good artwork, and an okay story line. This was just the sort of game that gives me several hours of good play and entertainment.

This is one of my favorite games to play, with everything I really enjoy in a good game. It has enough HO's, and plenty of puzzles. It kept me thinking and most importantly, kept me interested. Not too many cinematics, which is a big plus for me since I tend to grow tired of too much of that. Fun game!

First the positives: great artwork and scenes; fun puzzles; good hidden object games with some things you have to do to complete the games; good sound and voice-overs. What I didn't like was the story and the disconnected tasks to reach a goal. I only played 40 minutes of the trial, and I probably won't buy this game, even though I did enjoy the playtime I had. This wasn't a bad game, at all. It just isn't the one I want to spend my punches on!
For years, Barton Mansion sat abandoned, a haunting reminder of an obsession gone wrong. But something sinister still lurked there...and it's stirring.
It has everything I like: lots and lots of HO's, puzzles, a story that works, and good sound quality. Hours of play, and no overdone cinematics. A really cute and friendly doggy to help you in spots where you can't reach an item you need, and beautiful scenes. You won't be disappointed with this one!
I feel like a traitor to the game, but I just didn't enjoy all the drama and cinematics. I enjoy the hidden object genre for what it is: a game. This was more like a film with some games and HOs thrown in. It might suit other gamers just fine, but for me, after playing the trial, I won't be purchasing the game.
Well, what can I say? I was having a pretty good time until I hit the level "Splitting Headache." I've probably done this level over two dozen times, trying daily to get the best of it. Once I am down to one to five left to identify, nothing on the screen seems to match. Three or four pumpkin halves, and none of them match. I would say the challenge is teeth-gritting, but it stopped being fun when I couldn't overcome it! Argh!!! Definitely not for the short on patience!
Well, I know that this is a popular game, looking at all the great reviews. I supposed I just don't like all the help that is in this game. The zooming in and out, giving me hints, all the icons at the bottom of the screen for objective, achievements, hints, etc. I own many games with helps, but for some reason this one seemed to require more clicking that was confusing to me. I only got through 15 minutes of the trial, and I logged out. I won't buy this one.
Return once more to the haunted grounds of Ravenhearst Manor to uncover new details about this poignant saga. What you find could very well be the final chapter of this riveting story-if you escape.
This is one of my all-time favorites, albeit a very, very disturbing one. In one of the portals, listening to the children cry as they are beaten and tortured is absolutely awful. The sounds are so heart-wrenching that I can't imagine anyone ever physically punishing a child. I liked the HO scenes with the morphing objects; the storyline and voiceovers go perfectly together (Charles' childhood explored), and the games are definitely challenging. At the risk of sounding like a really sick individual, I would absolutely recommend this game. Not for the weak nor for those empathetic souls who would run away rather than finish this. Ghoulish may be a way to describe it. I found I just wanted to solve it!
You've been asked to cover a highly anticipated competition in New York City when something goes terribly wrong. Can you escape the world of illusions?
This game probably should be more fun for other people. I think I just didn't enjoy it because of the cut scenes; the changing realities were irritating to me, visually. I was a little unnerved with a hopeless feeling that I didn't know where I was or what I was dealing with. Maybe these are great experiences for other people, but I didn't like feeling that way. The animation and colors were very nice, the games and puzzles were fun, and I did want to know what had happened to the illusionist. Personally, I just couldn't get through it. I only played the trial to the end, which seemed pretty short. Sure wasn't 90 minutes, but it was plenty for me to know that I will not buy this.
This is by far my all time favorite game! The music is so poignant at times, and you really feel for the ghosts in the story. Then at times, the music changes and the atmosphere is so ominous and chilling, you look around to see if Charles is nearby. This is an achingly sad story wherein you set out to free the souls of a mother and her daughters. I never get tired of playing this game. It's a must have for anyone who plays HO games, or who likes the MCF Detective games.
