A game by Eipix
------------------------
Claimed as a spooky game by Eipix, this game has a lot of promise. However I have never seen Eipix presenting a dark game so I was doubtful at first. Only that I know their previous games: Myths of the Worlds and Final Cut series are ones of the best out there, I decided to give this game a try. Well I was wrong!
There are 3 levels of difficulties.
Although scary in the intro movie, it was at first and gradually it became just a regular game, which is a pity. I expect there will be ghosts or shadows pop out of nowhere in some scenes but it didnt happen. Instead we had to go around the farm, doing annoying tasks and lots of HOG before finally getting into the house!
There are lotsss of HOG scenes here and annoying ones at that. By the time I got into the house the feeling of spookiness had gone and replaced with annoyance.
Too bad, a game that should have been great but was ruined with the dev's too ambitious plan to make it scary. Well, better luck next time.
I don't recommend this game.

The fourth game in the Haunted Halls series by ERS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Blackmore is back!! (when won't he??) Those who played their previous games will surely know this slimy and rather disgusting character. And ERS is the perfect game dev. to deliver games that are just beyond normal. I wonder how long I can take this "craziness".
There are 3 levels of difficulties and one custom.
If you have played their other games: Twilight Phenomena, then this game is much weirder than that, in fact I think this game should be classified as a TP game, because of the total weirdness and animals that are in this game. I found it annoying that this game dev. particularly generous with animals being caged or abused.
The googles in this game is ridiculous. Once used it is the same puzzle throughout the game. The usage of the weirdest thing imaginable is prevalent: crab as a scissors? even in real life that won't ever be possible. It's only in this game weird world that they make impossible things possible. If you can handle this then this game may be alright with you.
After playing a couple game in this series I am happy to say I had enough. Time to play game which makes more sense.
I don't recommend this game.

The third game in the Secrets of the Dark series by Orneon
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone who had ever played the games in the series will surely know that the trademark of this game is the switching rooms (not sure how to put it into words! >_<). I bought this game also because of this uniqueness.
There are 3 levels of difficulties.
I own the previous two games in the series and they are great fun. The scary creatures seem to follow us around, this time to Greece. And in terms of graphics, this one is definitely a big improvement.
The hint and skip button recharges slowly although I played on the easiest level. Even so, the hint is pretty useful as it really shows clues! (literally!) so the hint is really helpful. The HOG is unique, combining objects and of different variety.
For first time players of this kind of game may find it annoying of switching between light and dark, one chapter alone can mean a dozen or more switching just to use an inventory.
Nevertheless this game is a nice break from the usual HOG game. I think the dev. is being very creative here with their game series. Hope they release a new one soon.
I recommend this game!

The fourth game in the Spirits of Mystery series by ERS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 levels of difficulties.
I own the previous three games in this series and can confidently say that this is a great series of games. Simply because I have no extra cash to buy CE I could only buy the SE.
You, the princess had to defeat an evil witch to win the silver arrow, for anyone who has it will be able to marry a prince. A little fairytale here with some action.
Nice VO with great graphics. Actually I don't really mind these as long as it came with a good story. I like it that although it is a fairytale, it is not too cutesy, and we, as the princess is shown as strong and determined. The ending is of course, quite predictable, but still, it is a nice game to play.
Puzzles and HO games are relatively easy, hint and skip button recharge moderately.
I am glad that this game does not portray weird animals or human experiment, which they like to do in a game. Gladly this one is rather normal.
I think I will buy the next game, if they ever release it.
I recommend this game!

The second game in the Twilight Phenomena series by ERS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 levels of difficulties.
I actually don't really like the first game in the series, the story just doesnt make sense. And actually I was reluctant to buy this one, but I had to, as my game coupon is about to expire, so I made the risky decision to buy this game since I know the dev: ERS.
OK voiceovers and graphics, didn't expect much from this game dev., their trademark washed-out colors are infamous. Didn't like at all that they use animals as strange creatures, and portraying them in being locked or abused, definitely not my cup of tea.
Cannot make the sense also on inventory items used for the most unconventional way, I mean, using a cactus needle to open up a door lock? how is that possible??
I am sure I am not buying any game in this series again.
I don't recommend this game.

The second game in the Final Cut series by Eipix
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 levels of difficulties.
If you have played their first game it will help you understand the story better but in the opening intro they will summarize those for you so you can start playing.
Very nice VO, live actors acting and graphic. As usual with all Eipix games, there are HOG in almost every scene. Sadly although many, most of the items are junk. The HOG scene can be switched to Match-3 games if you are bored finding objects. The puzzles are pretty easy, and most inventory items that we collect will be used immediately. It's a good game for beginners like me.
The story flows nicely but sadly quite predictable. I like how some of the scene changes as if a time machine. It's still a good game nonetheless, not dark, no witches, but just bad guy and hunt and chase. I am not sure, though, if I want to buy their third game (Homage) which is already on sale at BFG.
I recommend this game!

A game by Meridian 93 & BFG
---------------------------------------------
When I first play this game on demo, it caught my attention because of its spookiness. I was pretty hooked by then. But going further into the game I was feeling unsure, although the cutscenes indeed are spooky.
There are 3 levels of difficulties. The cutscenes and graphic are ok, a bit blurry but I think that's the intention to make the game more dark and scary. One thing that I hate is the VO, it keeps going on and on for every small thing. It gets annoying pretty quickly. The VO is actually a bit expression-less..
There are lots of mini games in this game, which I hate :( the HO scenes are the usual stuff, but mostly just junk, which is a pity. Tasks after task after task fill this game. I don't mind them, they are better than the mini games..
The hint however is pretty useful, it will guide you to exactly the place where an action is available.
I gave this game 3 star because I got annoyed by the VO, which ruin the spookiness. I think the game is meant to be scary, but unfortunately there are some elements that could have been done better. If there will ever be the sequel to this game, hopefully it will improve.

The second game in the Living Legends series by 4Friends Games
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 levels of difficulties. Good VO and beautifully drawn characters. This is Snow White story with a twist. I love helping past Snow Whites, the story is pretty cool. This game is different than their first game, so it doesn't matter if you dont have it yet. But still it's about wicked witch and snow, best be played on summer days. It can really cool you down :)
There are more mini games here than the HO, and they're pretty easy. HO is the usual finding objects and combining them, quite diverse. Skip button takes quite long to recharge although I have chosen the easiest level. Cutscenes cannot be skipped, too.
Here you can collect coins to buy items for your pet, which I don't really care about.
I give this game a 4-star for the effort in the story. Plus the map and hint is useful.
I recommend this game!

A Hidden Expedition game by Big Fish Games
Dive to the Bermuda Triangle and find out what's the mystery behind the team lost at the devil's triangle!
Sounds good however the game turns to be a disappointment, although it's better than the usual finding objects variety. Hint is not helpful at all except in a puzzle. There is no map to see where the actions are, and clicking hint doesnt help at all, either. When you need to pick up an item, the cursor changed, but the problem is when the cursor doesnt change when an inventory item should be used in a certain area.
The graphics are grainy, there is almost no music, although I have set the music volume to be quite high. HO scenes are mostly junk and puzzles have no instructions whatsoever. This turns out to be a rather bad game.
VO is okay but the text and what being said don't match, so it's confusing. I tend not to read the whole conversation because they are not very helpful with the game. This game starts getting on my nerves even on the second chapter because it's not helpful at all, no map, hint doesn't show places. I have to use the blog walkthrough to guide me to the game. Turns out the game is pretty short, which is to my relief as I can't stand this type of game.
I don't recommend this game.

A game by Magicindie Softworks
I thought this game will be similar to Awakening series with lots of cutesy characters and animals, turn out it wasn't really. Yes, this game also is full of cute things, but this one surely delivers better. I don't know why, but it less fairytale than Awakening games.
You are going to Nearwood to find out what happened to your father.
There are 3 levels of difficulties. Nice graphics (pastel colors) and VO. There are lots of cutscenes in this game, with movies or simply just talking. It can get draggish. HO scenes are not the usual finding objects, so I like it. The puzzles are also pretty easy. Map is helpful and clear.
Overall a nice game, no dark theme of some sort, a good game to play on a nice Sunday or with family.
I recommend this game!
