IMHO, this game superb in everything: visual, voice over, puzzles, storyline, etc, that I bought almost immediately. It's so great that it almost feels like we are really the detectives solving crimes as it looks so real. The dialogues are like everyday live, very convincing and the voice acting are beyond par. I really enjoy this game and can't wait to see the final ending when I am stuck in the bonus chapter because of a glitch and cannot go on. I am very curious but I don't want to play from the beginning again to know the ending. Very sad, but maybe after a few weeks I can try to play this game again. Anyway, very satisfied with the original gameplay itself I have no further comments.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.

I bought this game without even trying the demo, I think, myself, like mostly everyone else, have expected this game for so long and we have been treated with 13th Skulls and Ravenhearst series that we just simply buy this game because of the good game experience in the past. I bought this game and waited while playing other games (usually I play the games I like most the last), but after seeing the many negative reviews of this game, I can't help but wonder what exactly is going wrong that it receives even less than 3 stars? So I play this game. It looks fun in the beginning, a bit scary even, I think this is the creepiest game of all MCF with ghosts pop out of nowhere, but I can't help but feeling like we are the 'maid' of Cassandra. She dictates all of our moves, and the game just goes through the step of Cassandra gives us drawings, we find them, find some hidden objects, Cassandra calls us back, she does reading, then she tells us where to go next, then she calls us again for more drawings, etc.. It gets bored and felt more like chores than we snooping ourselves. Finding the drawings itself are old, finding them in Escape from Ravenhearst (EFR) were enough, and then we are given much more here. The graphic should have been better, EFR has the best graphic ever, but this one looks like it was rushed for selling and feels incomplete. The buildings from outside look like they were just finished being drawn and put straight for the game. It doesn't look real. Although it uses lots of live actors, I don't feel drawn to it. I don't know Lea Thompson well and I feel it doesn't matter even if BFG finds ordinary people to play the part, as I think it doesn't add any extra special to it. And the Strategy Guide is not very useful. There is no TOC and it's difficult to follow. Not much of a 'guide', in my opinion. What I probably like from this game are maybe the few number of puzzles (I am a beginner and I hate puzzles in the games. I skip them all, yes I do) and the map lets us jump to places. The whole town map looks like 'The Sims' map, it doesn't look like a town. Really, a town that small?? And the title itself is 'Shadow Lake' but we are not really see the lake until the very last and it's just even less than one minute?! come on!!
For a CE, it should have said earlier in the game where we can unlock the bonus content. Going through the whole area once again for the 50 morphing objects is no fun.
I really appreciate all the crews at BFG for creating this game but I spent US$ 14 on this game, and I bought 'Dana Knightstone: Death upon Austrian Sonata CE' and 'Brink of Consciousness: The Lonely Hearts Murders CE' along with the sale which I think were much better and good buy than this one.

The good news is: there are lots of characters and lots of chances to talk The bad news is: they have lots of things to say, and I mean lots, because we can't skip the dialogue.
The good news is: The game is set in River Heights The bad news is: there are very few places to go, only 5 places in total and not much snooping going on.
The good news is: you will see Ned. The bad news is: you have to switch to him, back and forth, to Bess and George, back and forth countlessly in order to finish the game
The good news is: there are some good logic puzzles The bad news is: we can't skip it although we were stuck, as there is no skip button and it was very challenging.
The good news is: it was pretty long The bad news is: mostly because you spend most of the time switching back and forth between characters
Although I could say I like this game because I am a collector, but it may not be suitable for first time gamer of ND as this game may be too complicated to play.

I owe every title of DK game and this one I bought without trying the demo. The game, as usual excels in music, graphic and story. There is less number of puzzles, which makes me so happy. BZ is so well known to me for creating lots of puzzles in their games but this time it's moderate. Not too many, which is great. Can't wait to see the next game of DK novel!!

I like the first title in the series so I bought their next installment. Moonfell Wood is also a great game, with stunning graphic like the first one, but the puzzles and minigames are overbearing.. It is like a puzzle for every 2 minutes. Luckily the skip charging is fast for casual players like me. I know BZ likes to include puzzles in their games but this is way too many T.T plus most of them are repetitive throughout the whole game. For that, I cannot give 5 stars. Anyway, I enjoy the story despite the many puzzles. I can't wait to play their next game, Goblin Kingdom.

This is my second time trying to play this game. The first time, I thought this game is rather childish, with fairies, goblins, sleeping princess, dragons, but I got the chance to play Skyward Castle and I begin to like this game, although I am sad to say I play it from the end to the beginning. I don't know the starting of the story, so I tried this game. I liked it overall, very cute and neat. The puzzles are not overbearing like most Boom Zap games, the graphic is excellent, nice music although quite repetitive. Very few hidden object scenes but that's alright. Will surely try other titles in the series.

Of all the MT games I own, this one is my favorite. The graphic is excellent, I love it that we can collect coins to buy items for our pet, Elf. The storyline is easy to follow, helpful map, very fast hint and skip button, so it's definite favorite of mine. One thing I am against is the short amount of time, even the bonus chapter is short, but oh well, this is still my favorite game!

I loved all Mumbo Jumbo games, so it was a must buy for me. I like that the graphic is very clear and that it links with Jack the Ripper! one thing that I dislike is Angelica talking all the time, even in HOG scenes, sometimes can be very annoying, but I like it somewhat since I cannot really pay attention unless she says what's going on. There was no map so a bit difficult to navigate and can be a bit dizzying but overall it was a very neat game.

I bought this game immediately just after the first chapter of the demo. Loved the graphic, so real looking, the voice over, the HOG scenes are very neat, no junk.. they look so naturally put together, unlike many other games of its kind. The atmosphere is kinda creepy too. The game length is not very long, though. Finished this game with the bonus chapter for around 6 hours (skipped lots of puzzles). Overall, very happy that I bought this game. No regrets!

I love the 'Song of Phoenix' so I also bought this one, but unfortunately for a CE, it's too short. I finished this game in about 4 hours including the bonus chapter. There are lots of HOG scenes and they're all junk. The story is great but too bad because of the short length, it doesn't seem complete. Hopefully if there's another one in the series, it will have adequate length.
