I am amazed at the high ratings. There was so much back and forth and so many places to GO back and forth to that I lost interest quite quickly as well as the storyline; and that annoying little girl!
I finally just decided to bag the game, I was just going through the motions and using the hint to move around because the map was way too cumbersome. Back and forth, back and forth with an overloaded inventory so I actually got mixed up and just let the hint do the work...not the way to play a game. Good thing I got this on sale otherwise I think I would be very upset.
I don't recommend this game.

I enjoyed this game, but felt like it was a lot of work in the sense the storyline seemed a bit confusing and it took me awhile to figure out how the transporter map worked.
Story was interesting enough, but got confusing when the girl I thought was killed in the beginning turned out not to be so for awhile the story seemed odd.
I felt the gameplay was awkward and choppy. HOS could be fun and difficult at times due to lack of clarity of what one was suppose to do. Puzzles were OK and easy at times but lack of clear instructions made them a "puzzle" too. I felt like the game was basically badly edited.
Voiceovers were good and could be amusing at times, music OK (I always turn that down), animations, color and graphics were good. When a game doesn't flow smoothly, it can be a bit annoying as this was at times, but I still enjoyed it. I didn't find it short and was a good length for a SE.
I recommend this game!

Its hard to say whether the gameplay wasn't really smooth or the challenge was in finding all the little clues at the right time to move the game along. I hardly ever have to use the hint but this game had me using it more than I would have wanted to. You had to be sure you covered every little inch of space to make sure you picked up or "stimulated" everything that would unlock another step and this included the interactive items in your inventory....everything was connected.
HOS were easy and enjoyable as some contained HOS within the HOS. Puzzles were at times very easy and at other time difficult mostly because the instructions or gameplay was not real clear. Since you could set your hint and skip to refresh quickly in the Custom setting, it really helped me skip over the confusing puzzles and move along.
I demoed and bought this and then returned about a week later so I had to catch up on the storyline a bit, but found it to be a new one which was refreshing. The voice-overs were OK, except those with those very bad accents. I almost always turn the music off, so not sure whether it was as annoying as it usually is or not.
I found the game to be a challenge and I'm a fairly seasoned player. The transporter map was definitely necessary as you did move around a bit and if you missed something somewhere at least it took you back to look.
I would recommend for those who enjoy a challenge, however it might frustrate a beginner.
I recommend this game!

Although the game appeared to be short it was because I was so caught up in it and couldn't stop playing. Very unique HOS and puzzles. The game has the option of setting your hint and skip to refresh quickly.
I'll have to admit, I skipped several puzzles as I am not much of a puzzle player, but they were unique so puzzle nuts will enjoy them.
Voice overs, color, animations and graphics were terrific and the storyline was different which is a change from the "horror" stories coming out lately. I did get a bit confused with some of the characters which always seems to happen when dealing with "time" changes for me.
Transporter map was very good and needed as you did move around a bit. Highly recommended.
I recommend this game!

I enjoy these builder games and have enjoyed the Roads to Rome series...in the past, but this one just didn't make it.
I started out on "easy" mode, because I do like an "easy" timer with these builder games but with others, usually "easy" means if the timer runs out you can keep playing, but this one makes you start the level over, which can be really annoying. So, toward the end of the second chapter I gave up and started the game over on "relaxed" and played to the end. By the end I was bored. The only thing which changed was the playing board got bigger...same-o, same-o things to do, over and over again.
Its a good thing there were only 4 chapters of about 10 levels each, because I was ready for the game to end. I've certainly played better builder games with more variation to each level to keep them interesting. Maybe on sale or with a credit...but not full price.
I don't recommend this game.

I loved this game. The gameplay was smooth with a lot of new ideas with the HOS and Map creation. Amazing animations, voice overs were good as well as sounds and visuals.
Very good story, but those with fear of occult might be offended in some parts. The SE was a long SE and I was captivated through the whole game. The game ended completely and well...not an ending that left you hanging...just a little sad. Decisions to be made along the way that affect the storyline which is always a challenge. Definitely recommend and worth every penny.
I recommend this game!

Totally enjoyed this version of Haunted Hotel. The animations, sounds and graphics were simply amazing in this one. Enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Smooth gameplay with challenging puzzles and HOS for those who love those parts of the game.
Interesting "angry ghost" story but may be uncomfortable for those who are sensitive to the occult and/or spiders in some cases. I certainly give this a 5 out of 5 and highly recommend. Custom setting lets you set the hint and skip to refresh quickly so the game moves along well. Transporter map is excellent. Highly recommend and you certainly get your money's worth. Not sure if I would recommend playing this while alone in a dark house on a stormy night though. :)
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed the first Final Cut games, but the last two I've played have been horrible. I couldn't even bring myself to finish this one. I found myself just hitting the hint and skip to get through it and it just kept going, and going and going.
Puzzle and HOS fans will love this because it is just filled with them which for me so distracts from the game and makes the gameplay slow and tedious. Whats even worse is when you skip a puzzle you have to wait for it to "solve" itself. HOS are repetitive and dull.
The only good thing about this game was the animations and graphics were very good. Color nice and voice-overs OK. But the rest was a real sleeper. Not going to buy another Final Cut again.
I don't recommend this game.

This could have been a good one if it wasn't so "cumbersome" and just one HOS and mini game/puzzle after another. All this slowed the game down and made me really glad when it finally came to the end.
Storyline was slow and a bit confusing with all the characters involved, you sort of lost track of who was who and what part they played in the story.
The transporter map was good, but you could also use the transporter hint. I set the hint and skip to refresh quickly otherwise I may have gone nuts. Some of the mini games/puzzles were simple, but very tedious and others just didn't make sense. HOS were varied, but used a lot of the shadow hints as well as riddles.
Animations, color and graphics were probably the best part as they were very good. The most ANNOYING part were the constant bleep, bop sound effects every time your curser ran over an area even after turning them way down in the options. No need for that.
For an adventure game, it feel short due to all the time wasted moving around from one place to another and playing HOS and puzzles.
I don't recommend this game.

I didn't even last through the demo, I got so bored. I found the little question/answer windows an awkward timewaster. The game seemed to drag badly. Lots of running back and forth, I thought the story was never going to progress. Even at a $3.99 deal I didn't think this game was worth it.
I don't recommend this game.
