Well, this is just a basic match 3 game. No dialog, no story, no builder game...just plain match 3. Graphics were excellent and the game worked smoothly. You had the option of advance or relax mode...I chose relaxed...not into stressing out over a game.
However, there was very little to no tutorial as far as how to play certain game play movements. I even started over with the tutorial checked to see if it had a help screen as far as the what filled the bulb on the left hand side and what made it go up and down and other things like the chain on the right side, how to defeat the ice monster and feed the toad. You just had to kind of figure these things out as you went along. The game goes so fast you don't have a lot of time to watch what triggers these things and there is no explanation. I was almost 3/4 of the way through when I figured out, sort of, how they worked or could be defeated.
Basically, despite all that, I did enjoy the game and it was long enough to be worth the money, but not so long you got bored. I don't know if I would have spent full price for it, but on 60% off, it was worth it.
This match 3 has 200 levels. I enjoyed this game and played it in a untimed mode but even though I prefer untimed games I think this one would have been more challenging timed which I think I will try.
Great animations and an unusual way of "shuffling" the game board which I had never seen before. A few "can you see the difference" and HOS games which were easy. It was a builder match 3 which you had to acquire different things to construct the buildings including "fight" scenes which were fun, but it seemed you always one...maybe it was just me.
The game was so long and very relaxed it did become a bit tedious after awhile. It would have been better it the game board in relax mode had a bit more challenge to it. The game was a bit slow, but for those who just want an easy going, relaxed game it was fun. However, I would give the timed game a go first.
I did enjoy this Mystery Case File, however there were a lot of fairly intricate puzzles which I skipped since I'm not a big puzzle person. You can chose your option for playing which allowed me to customize what I wanted which included reducing the skip down to 10 seconds.
Interesting story but kind of got confusing, especially toward the end. A lot of standard HOS, like most MCF games. Fairly long game, but the ending was confusing and I still had one item left in my inventory...blood.
A lot of dialog which you could skip over, but maybe that is why I lost track of the story line a bit. Anyway, I did enjoy playing it and it moved along fairly well. Great transporter map which was a real help.
I've been playing Mystery Case Files since I joined Big Fish and that was a long time ago. I remember the first one I played, Dire Grove and found them challenging and fun.
Although there have been some real Mystery Case File losers, I always try to download and play. I personally found this one a lot of fun, although not as long as others, which is fine.
Basically this game has it for everyone's taste, challenging puzzle/games for puzzle lovers, flip pictures, and a lot of HOS...actually this game is basically HOS which have puzzles in them and I found varied and creative.
The whole idea is it brings together the whole cast from other Mystery Case Files games in a sort of a reunion. Just fun stuff. So, I guess it just depends on what you want in a game...at least give the demo a try and go from there. Mystery Case File games produce a lot of varied reviews; gamers either like them or hate them. Good luck.
This must be an oldie but not a goodie. Clunky and timed, two things I really don't like in a match 3. I had to immediately turn off all music and sounds, arrrrgh, they were awful.
I don't like timed games with no option for a relaxed mode; I play games to relax and have fun not to get all twisted up in anxiety.
I lasted about 3 minutes into the game and trashed it. It appears I am in the minority here, but I certainly don't recommend it, there a a lot of better, more entertaining and well done match 3 games out there to spend your money on.
I love match 3 but this one is way too out of the ball park for me. I found it tedious and confusing. It is a timed game and the few levels I played it seemed the timer was fairly generous, but it could be more challenging as the levels get harder.
Apparently I'm the loner here, so play the demo and make a decision for yourselves whether you think this is the game for you!
This is a long game for one reason....all levels, except the first ones (demo) are nearly impossible to win. Fun game to play, but the frustration of having to play a level for 50 times before you can even come close to winning to move on is almost too much.
I have played through about 15 levels and it has been fun, but very frustrating. If you want a game that is a super challenge to win and takes some real strategy, then this is for you...if you want a game that is pretty normal and relaxing I would definitely stay away from this one.
Unlike Land of Runes, this board does not rotate and therefore makes it very difficult to really "win" games. Also, this game is timed and does not have a "relaxed" option and if you can't beat the timer or there are no moves left, you have to start the game over from the beginning making the game very frustrating.
I realize there are a great deal of positive reviews, but I just cannot agree. Besides all the frustration, it is quite boring. Frustration and boredom do not make a good game in my book.
I loved Land of Runes so I thought I give Cubis a try. Too bad they don't make Cubis like Land of Runes.
I don't recommend this game.

Land of Runes
Land of Runes challenges you to eliminate stacks of colored blocks from ancient memorials located at the base of a fiery volcano!
I don't think I've had more fun playing a match game than I had playing this one. One of those games you just don't want to end. You have the option of playing relax or timed; I chose relax but I will go back and try it timed.
Unusual matching game (I don't think I could classify it as a match 3, but perhaps in a way). Truly, you need to try this game, it is really fun and has a long run. I wish I could find more like it. Hopefully the developer will come out with another!
OK, this was a fun game until you got to Act lV. I must have tried to beat this level at least 30 times and then finally just bagged it. Interesting match 3 that also gives you the option of playing and reading the story of the Christmas Carol.
This is a timed match 3 which was really not a problem until the 4th Act and it becomes unbeatable which doesn't make the game fun anymore. Sad, but I'm not going to frustrate myself anymore with it. I would have given the game at least a 4 star if it had continued to offer challenge but gave you a chance to at least win it.
