6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER - BASED ON THE FIRST 3 CHAPTERS OF THE GAME
Building upon the foundation of the previous games in this series, the gaming architects at EIPIX, have designed and constructed a well-crafted enigmatic masterpiece. Sneering in the background, you can almost hear Alister Dalimar applauding the insane puzzle-like machinations of this dark game as well. Returning to Ravenhearst, as a master detective, you must again match wits against an evil, devious madman lurking within the walls of Ravenhearst, watching your every move. What are the hidden secrets which lie hidden below the foundation of the Ravenhearst museum, a “twin” replica of the original mansion? Who is behind the building of this museum and for what purpose?
A clue for you. In Chapter 3 we begin to “construct” the story of who built the museum and the mayhem caused by a person whose nose ended up where it ought not be all while looking out to sea.
What an excellent storyline! The game will keep you guessing as to the perpetrators and their motives in this game. There are some new characters to add to the growing list of the Dalimar family and Ravenhearst inhabitants. The graphics are dark with an eerie, gothic landscape. The VO’s are excellent and I especially loved the creepy taunting voice of the hooded figure attached to the Alister Enigma Box.
HOP Scenes: There are 18 HOP scenes in the games. The HOP scenes are well-crafted and puzzle-like with some of the scenes having items which are difficult to locate. They are multi-step, varied and there are mini-puzzles within the scenes. They include variations of lists of items to locate, silhouette, cryptic clues. There are some mini-HOP scenes as well. You also have the ability to replay the scenes. After the demo in Chapter 3 there was another list of items to locate and a mini-HOP game.
MINI-GAMES. There are 41 mini-games within the game with 5 super-puzzles. All the puzzles can be reset and each puzzle in the super puzzles can not only be reset but have their own skip function as well. All mini-games can be replayed. The puzzles vary in type and difficulty. Most are easy but there are some brain crushers as well. They include a variation of matching puzzles, maze puzzles, pipe puzzles, sliding tiles puzzles, Simon Says puzzles and logic puzzles. In Chapter 3 you play a relatively difficult puzzle for Alister’s Enigma Box.

It is “tulip time” at BFG. As a detective, put on your wooden shoes and travel to the Netherlands for a case involving a collector of rare flowers involved in selling them through the black market. Something is amiss in his “little shop of horrors.” This is a suspenseful, well-crafted low 5 star game. The graphics are beautiful with a creative variety of puzzles and puzzle-like HOP scenes. There are more puzzles than HOP scenes in this game. I found myself enrapt in the mystery of this well-paced game. Throughout the game you will discover each of the collector’s business associates in a comatose state, being poisoned by flowers. You will need to locate the source behind all of the poisonous pollen from these flowers.
The HOP scenes are principally lists of items to locate with one scene featuring silhouette items. They are well-done and puzzle-like. Some of the scenes require sequential actions. In one of the HOP scenes, there are morphing objects to locate which must morph before you can remove them from the scenes. Rather cool and innovative. Although most of the HOP scenes are principally lists of items to be located, each scene is unique with varied activities.
The puzzles are fairly easy with the exception of one puzzle at the end of the demo which is slightly difficult. The puzzles include variations of matching puzzles, balance/weight puzzles, switch puzzles, moving tiles puzzle, jigsaw puzzle, and assembly puzzles. As you analyze poisonous pollen to find the “antidote,” you will play several puzzles, each increasing in difficulty as you progress in the game.

As Emma Roberts, a paranormal investigator, working for the “ragazine” “Fear for Sale”, you are off to investigate a case in which sculptures are coming to life. Behind the scene is a twisted story of the death of the sculptor of these statues intertwined with that of a girl falsely accused of witchcraft. I LOVE the paranormal story in this game. This is an “easy breezy” game with many activities and items to collect. There is an equal amount of HOP scenes and puzzles. The HOP scenes are varied with a few mini-HOP scenes as well. Some of the HOP scenes are multi-step. They include lists of items, silhouettes, replacement of items back in the scenes.
The puzzles are extremely easy. I found none which were challenging. There are also some multi-step puzzles as well. The puzzles include jigsaw puzzles, switching tiles puzzles, maze puzzles, storybook sequences, and many variations of matching puzzles. You have the option to reset the puzzles as well.
The “eyes” have it in this game. Paraphrasing the moldy oldie Hall and Oates song, “Private eyes are watching you – watching your every move.” Everywhere you go you will be watched by these creepy “eyes.” If you “poke” them they open and close but really don’t have any purpose in the game. The game also suffers from the same effects as having “red eyes” – the graphics are blurry and grainy in some places.
This is a very busy game, with plenty of activities to keep you from becoming bored. If you like collectibles, you will love this game. You collect toys, postcards, actress things, doctor’s equipment, and 34 beyond objects. You also get points for collecting these. You can also advance your status as a reporter in this game as well. You begin as a cub reporter and move up the ranks in journalism. (Working for this “ragazine,” hopefully you can get a job as a reputable reporter at some future date in time).
It is a decent game and a better game than many of the Elefun games. In my personal opinion it lacks the quality of a 5 star game. I felt for a CE the graphics were poorly done– blurry and old school. I also felt there were way too many gimmicks (like all those blinking eyes whirling around) with the large amount of collectibles. The puzzles are way too easy for my taste. I would have been happy with just one mildly challenging puzzle. I did not like the idea of collecting points to move up in rank as a journalist. Again, this is just my opinion. I realize that many will love this game – so enjoy!

However, feathers will be flying before these two love birds can feather their love nest. Before tying the knot, this couple will be tied up in a battle with the evil wizard Rothbart and his nasty daughter, Alana. This is a classic love story based loosely on the ballet, “Swan Lake.”
There are more puzzles than HOP scenes in the game. The HOP scenes are varied and include one multi-step one. The scenes include silhouettes, replacement of items back into the scene, and one FROG scene. In Chapter 3, the HOP scenes include a fragmented silhouette scene and a list of items. There was little change from the demo.
Most of the mini-games in the demo are easy and include one multi-step puzzle. There are variations of a lock puzzle, maze puzzle, matching puzzle, uncrossing rope puzzle, logic puzzle, and a bubble popper puzzle. The collectibles are feathers to “feather your future love nest.” Also locate statuettes for the couple’s wedding cake and stained glass window pieces for a jigsaw puzzle. All collectibles are easy to locate and practically jump out at you. In Chapter 3 the mini-games include a moving tiles puzzle and a sliding tiles puzzles. There was a very unique, somewhat difficult jigsaw puzzle to solve which requires enlarging and moving pieces into place.

Will this case lead to creation or destruction? It is up to you detective! As you arrive in Munich during an eclipse, a prophecy is in the midst of being fulfilled. During this eclipse a beast will awaken, the Wanderer, and unbeknown to you - you are also part of the prophecy and have the ability to control its outcome! I LOVE this game. The graphics are eerily dark and the characters are realistic. There are more puzzles than HOP scenes in this game. The HOP scenes are few in the demo and consist of a list of items, cryptic clues, and silhouette items.
There is a variety of puzzles in the demo which I found fairly easy with only one which is somewhat difficult. There are some multi-step puzzles in the demo, including a Super Puzzle. They consist of combination gear/sliding tile puzzle, matching puzzles, Simon says puzzles, maze puzzles, pipe puzzles and a very easy assembly puzzle. You also have the ability to reset the puzzles. There are quite a few collectibles as well (chimeras, tarot cards, morphing objects). The morphing objects are NOT part of the HOP scenes and all the collectibles are well camouflaged within the background.
This story should find you in Munich just in time for an Oktoberfest and should “eclipse” any of your prior cases! This should be quite a fright night for you! You will soon realize something is amiss when a stone stature of a chimera comes to life and people are turning up dead everywhere you go. BASED ON THE FIRST 4 CHAPTERS - 6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER
EIPIX has produced an excellent departure game for it “final lap” of the Off the Record series. Canter back to 1952 England and the world of horse racing. As an investigative journalist interviewing a renowned horse breeder, Calvin Reedly, you find yourself drawn into a case involving blackmail, fraud and deception. This game is an excellent whodunit which will keep you guessing as to the culprits in the game. The graphics and video sequences are exquisite. I thought the HOP scenes were well-done, creative and innovative. Most of the HOP scenes are multiple-step involving a variety of different formats – rebus, cryptic clues, silhouette, and lists of items to locate with a puzzle-like twist and even a FROG scene. There are an equal number of HOP scenes and puzzles.
Most of the puzzles are very easy. They include variations of matching, manual dexterity, maze/pipe puzzle, and a moving tiles puzzle. The one puzzle I did enjoy the most was a mathematical/physics problem with getting horses to finish a race at the same time.
In their latest newsletter, EIPIX informed everyone that this would be the last game in the Off the Record series. This game is a nice farewell tribute to that series. You might want to jump on your horse and play this game before the series is put out to pasture. With the sale this weekend, it is well worth the discounted price.
AFTER THE DEMO: The next two chapters see you collecting more clues throughout the town as you try to overcome amnesia. Chapter 3 is short; however, Chapter 4 is very long. I did not completely finish Chapter 4. The puzzles again vary in difficulty from very easy to difficult. One of the puzzles I found a little challenging as well. There are an equal amount of puzzles and HOP scenes; however, I did not think the HOP scenes were as creative as in the demo.
LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds There is the option for a HOP error penalty if you wish

Finally, one cryptic clue is given to provide an inventory item. C. FROG. Find pieces to create an inventory item. D. Multiple-step. Avoid falling rocks by some quick maneuvering using arrows to veer right and left. EASY B. A variation of a matching puzzle. Choose and combine disks to recreate 5 images on a dial. EASY C. A variation of a combination maze/pipe puzzle. Use arrows to move a knob from top to bottom of a maze in which you must move interconnecting links to continue movement in the maze. You may need to backtrack some of your moves in order to get the links to move into place. MODERATELY DIFFICULT D. A variation of a manual dexterity puzzle in driving a motor scooter. However, you DO NOT have to choose the direction while driving the motor scooter. The arrow and direction are given to you. There is really no challenge in this “puzzle.” BEYOND EASY E. Variation of a moving tiles puzzle. Move rings to produce a picture of horses. F. Variation of a mathematical puzzle. Place obstacles on a race track to regulate the varying speed of race horses to that they arrive together at the finish line. Place items along the path which slow down the speed of the horses. MODERATELY DIFFICULT AFTER THE DEMO: G. Variation of a maze puzzle. Move colored arrows to boxes of the same color using white arrows to move the colored ones. MODERATELY DIFFICULT TO DIFFICULT H. Can we change destiny and Fate? Auntie Luisa Gray returns in a sequel, going back in time in order to alter the past, attempting to save her niece Jackie’s parents. Will she succeed? Or does Fate have some surprises for our Auntie Gray? I LOVE this game series featuring the affection between Auntie Gray and her niece Jackie! This is a fairly well-done mystery sequel, and is consistent with the series. The graphics are colorful. There are more puzzles than HOP scenes, but both are well executed. The HOP scenes are varied with some multi-step ones. The HOP scenes consist of silhouette, story sequence, list of items to locate, and replacement of items back into scenes. After four chapters, I found very few HOP scenes.
I found most of the puzzles to be easy; however, I did find a couple which were a little more challenging. The puzzles are varied with variations of maze puzzles, matching puzzles, manual dexterity puzzles, moving tiles/lock puzzles, mechanical puzzles and mathematical puzzles. There is one multi-step puzzle in this game. My favorite was a puzzle in which you must place all items back into a cabinet with no remaining spaces. There are morphing objects throughout the game and they are not easy to see. You also collect portraits of the Gray family as well.
After the demo, the next chapter has only two HOP scenes and six mini-games. The mini-games are a little more difficult than in the demo. The fatalistic theme continues throughout this chapter as well. I did not see any significant changes between the demo and the actual game.

fromBack from a week of “traveling”, this game was a pleasant surprise. Having also been gone for quite a while, it was about “time” for our penguin to return.

Oh, Happy Day! Our “penguino” has returned with another Griddler (AKA O’Ekaki, Paint-by-Numbers, Pic-a-Pix, Nonograms or whatever you call them) puzzle game. After a lengthy absence from this site, I, for one, am glad to see him return with another fantastic griddler puzzle game! It is “timely” for me because I ran out these games to play some time ago. A BIG THANK you to BFG for a game in one of my favorite genres. This one is also from my favorite dev for this type of game, Match Games.
HOW TO PLAY: This is variety of a Sudoku puzzle. In this puzzle, create pictures by filling in squares in a grid. The grids in this game will vary in number from 5 x 5 to 20 x 20 if it is like the games of the past. Each side of the grid will have numbers for each line of squares indicating the amount of squares which are to be filled in for each line of squares. Squares are filled in where the squares intersect between the two sets of numbers on each side.
• Levels: Casual and Advanced. The advanced screen begins with a 10 x 10 grid. The casual version will begin with a simplistic 5 x 5 grid and have a tutorial as well. • Colors: The game has three (3) colored screens • Autofill: There is autofill so you do not have to fill in the unused boxes. • Hints: Hints are given as you proceed and are based on the difficulty of the puzzle and how well you perform in solving the grid • Number of Levels and Griddlers: There are approximately 100 griddlers - 20 levels with 5 griddlers for each level. The puzzle grids become larger and more difficult as you proceed in the game. • Aids: You will receive aids in the game such as a pickaxe. • Awards: You will receive gold, silver and bronze trophies based on the amount of mistakes you make. If you make too many mistakes, you must restart the puzzle • Garden: As you complete a level you will receive an item to place in your “garden.”
An excellent colorful griddler game! This dev produces the best griddler of all the devs who produce these games for BFG. I highly recommend this game if you like Sudoku games or any type of mathematical games.
fromWhere did I leave my shadow? I think it got lost at the airport. Maybe I can find another one in this game. Also missing a great CE to play as well.

You are off to visit your old college friend, Ashley, a “radio superstar,” being stalked by “shadows” from the past. Being an investigator of the supernatural, you are there to “rush” to her defense and “shine the light of truth” on what is lurking behind those shadows. I like (not love) this game. I do like the puzzle-like aspect of the game which includes some mini-puzzles in both the inventory and HOP scenes. There is an equal amount of HOP scenes and mini-puzzles. The graphics and the VO’s are decent.
Most of the HOP scenes require sequential steps in locating items and the demo includes both silhouette and lists of items to locate. There are also mini-HOP scenes in search of a small number of one item. The mini-games are varied and include variations of jigsaw puzzles, sliding tiles puzzles, and in at least one instance you must locate and replace items back into the scenes (which is more like a HOP scene than a mini-game.)
Déjà vu? Didn’t BFG just offer a game similar to this? The game format is reminiscent of a previous game using a lantern to get rid of shadows. In this case, to use the lantern, you must untangle lines so that the lines do not intersect each other. By carrying all the lanterns in these games, maybe I can aspire to become the Town Crier at a historical village. I will await its presence as an SE. To me, it is a decent game but lacking the quality of a CE.
LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hard, Custom Hints 1 to 100 seconds Skips 1 to 100 random clicking in the game
EXTRAS: Map - Map is provided as you play the game 16 Achievements Collect 10 scene silhouettes to provide a story of the town Receive a crystal to help get rid of the shadows. Every time you need to remove shadows, you must untangle lines so that none cross each other. Strategy guide Usual wallpaper, artwork, screensavers. Replay of 12 HOP scenes and 12 mini-games
HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES

Locate a specific number of items in silhouette. Using arrows, the HOP scene expands to include more scenery in which to search for items
MINI-GAMES: A. Untangle lines so that no line crosses another line. You will do the same puzzle every time you need to use the lantern to get rid of shadows. EASY B. Variation of a jig saw puzzle. Using arrows – move puzzle pieces so they interconnect to create an emblem MODERATELY DIFFICULT C. Use switches to connect wires to fuses. EASY D. Variation of a sliding tiles puzzle. Rotate colored tiles so that they create a pattern according to a schematic. MODERATELY DIFFICULT E. Locate and replace figures, placing them into their correct locations EASY

4 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER
As a photographer, get ready to “expose” some family secrets at a less than “picture” perfect wedding of Frank and Carol. With the mysterious death of Carol’s mother, her father’s sudden illness, her sister Martha’s jealousy and a ghostly presence in the house – you will find a family album of secrets being exposed as you finish up some family portraits. Set in the era of the 1950’s, the story line is a Jessica Fletcher (“Murder She Wrote”) type mystery.
The story is the best part of the game. It has a good whodunit theme which keeps you guessing. There are more HOP scenes than puzzles. There are a variety of them including matching, sentences, and silhouette. They are the best part of the game, somewhat creative and innovative in design. The puzzles are very easy and include variations of a slider puzzle, a mathematical puzzle, and developing a photo. I felt the graphics were lacking. They are one-dimensional and there are no VO’s. There is NO locking inventory. Extras include a camera to take photos (it blinks when you need to take a photo), 20 achievements, 30 haunted objects, and 16 hidden photos
Sorry, but this review is only based on the demo. There was nothing in the demo to incite me to purchase this lackluster game. It does not have the creative, innovative HOP scenes and puzzles nor the graphics of a 5-star CE game. I also got tired of taking all the photos required in this game. At times, I found the game “jerky” in movement. I became bored playing this game. Since I am preparing to leave on a much anticipated trip, I don’t have time for another game.
There is a nice sale today on CE games and it is well worth the discounted price. This game will appeal to some on this site. If you like the reruns of “Murder She Wrote” television show or love photography, this game may appeal to you. I almost expected Angela Lansbury to be in this game along with a Cabot Cove background. If you purchase this game – Enjoy!
LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom Hints - 15 to 95 seconds. Skips - 15 to 95 seconds
INVENTORY: It is interactive and puzzle-like
GRAPHICS: I was not impressed with the graphics. No VO's for the characters. This is a must for CE games. The graphics are one-dimensional and stick-like. The game is very jerky in movement.
EXTRAS: Map is provided at the beginning of the game You receive a camera to take photos - It lights up when you are to take a photo of a scene 20 Achievements - It was difficult to count them Collect 30 haunted objects 16 hidden photos to add to your attic gallery Replay 10 HOP scenes and 10 mini-games Usual art, music, wallpaper Strategy guide
