I am on a Match 3 kick again so was excited to see a new one released. Not terribly difficult so I must rely on power ups and building the compound to keep from getting bored or complacent. Not as advanced as some other Match 3, but fun to play. Match 3 to earn food, building supplies and an occasional critter to destroy. Not past the demo so don't know what's ahead, but it was worth burning a freebie to find out! Nice to play when I don't want to concentrate all that much. I recommend the gameplay for a lazy afternoon!
Based on finished game. I bought this game before playing the demo, based solely on prior installments of the Surface franchise. Was expecting it to be a stellar addition to the series, but was woefully underwhelmed. Was short; took only about half the time to complete the main game than most games of this genre. This teaches me a valuable lesson; always play the demo first, regardless of prior successes. Would wait for the SE, or buy on a sale day like I did. Graphics, cinematics and cutscenes were lovely, as usual. HOGs were not a main focus of the game. Puzzles were easy. Only ok for me this time. In agreement with other folks; might be time to say bye bye, instead of buy buy. In comparison to the first two or three Surface games, this is a stinker. Sorry creators. This one should have stayed on the drawing board longer.
Of all game genres, Match 3 is my favorite. The Jewel Match games have always been superior, so was excited to see a new release. Another interesting installment. Graphics are lovely, it's visually pleasing, I found it difficult to walk away long enough to rest my eyes and stretch my legs. Although I'm not a fan of Halloween based games, I got this one purely because of the fun game reputation I found in Jewel Match games. Definitely recommend it!
Based on completed game.Truly don't want to disparage the makers of this game, as I know it takes a lot of work, so will try to be encouraging by saying this is, for the most part, a nice little game. The graphics were lovely, and the HOGs and puzzles were different and interesting. However, this game was way easy, and only took about half the time of most HOGs I play. Am confused at how mermaids fit into the times of dragons, but supposed literary license applies. And don't get how something like a baseball bat in the HOG fits. Seems it would be better of the objects were at least of the same time period. The gameplay continuity was okay; just felt like overtaking the evil jumped up out of nowhere, then ended. Sort of like the developers either got bored or didn't know how to create further. Or got stuck on what to do next so decided to stop. Either way, if one would like easy play for a quick afternoon, I recommend it.
I rarely ever give 5 stars, and this would have been a 4 star, but they really need to proof the games better before it's released. So many tech issues, and a bummer paying a CE and not being able to play through. Graphics nice, story line fine, and enjoy a game from this century, but very disappointed by the problems. Would certainly recommend this game if the bugs are fixed.
A famous actor has literally stepped off the screen to kidnap your niece. Now you must find a way into the dangerous and exciting world of the film to save her!
With boredom. I have all the Surface games, and I agree with the consensus - - this is without question a huge disappointment from our Surface Producers. Way, way too easy - -I tend to gauge challenge by how much attention I have to pay to the game over other distractions...tv, phone, etc. I could just about play this game with every electrical device on and still race through it, no problem. The other Surface games kept me engaged and anxious for the next one. I encourage them to go back to the drawing board and redeem themselves on the next one, but don't be so driven by success as to crank out a substandard game (for them) in a hurry. Take the time for a quality game and bring back your loyal fans. Would wait for the SE.
I don't recommend this game.

Dark Dimensions: Somber Song Collector's Edition
Townspeople flee as the black smoke covers their town. Can you close the dark dimension, before it’s too late?
Based on one hour trial: Pros: jump map and quick fill hint button. Ok visuals but a bit underwhelming. Cons: way, way too easy for a CE. Really nothing special to work toward; guess I have been spoiled by some of the more highly developed games.
Will wait for the SE..for sure would buy it..but a no go for investing in the CE.
Based on free trial. It takes a LOT to get a 5 star rating from me, but this comes very, very close. Lovely visuals, nice extras and the story kept me engaged. It misses for me by 1/4 star only because it's a bit too easy for that fifth star accolade. However, this developer deserves kudos for striving for excellence and for bringing attention to our family of Americans whose history is rich and exciting. Am surely adding this game to my collection. Is it worth a CE? I think so!
This review is based only on the hour free trial; however, I had to stop and purchase before I got to the end. It is a visually beautiful HOG, with lots of extras to pique interest. I especially appreciate the addition of a map, so if I get a bit stuck or distracted, all I need to do is refer to the map or get a hint. Even the map is interesting to me in that it is instructive, but also helps with the "treat" quest. Easy to follow but challenging enough to carry through. I don't give a summary of a game; one can see that before the download. I surely enjoyed the story and can't wait to continue the journey. A definite yes for me!
Based on demo trial. I sort of would like to offer an extra half star, because this is a lovely game visually. Graphics and cut scenes are helpful but not overwhelming. Was a bit reluctant even starting this game because of the overall blackness of the subject; a train holding folks on the way to hades. However, it's easy enough to follow and you want to destroy the evil and release the captives. I don't generally offer much info as I don't want to risk preconceived conclusions on the merit of the game. I will say I must add this to my collection.
