The concept of an eerie tale derived or based on a nursery rhyme or fairy tale is an excellent one, yet I didn't enjoy this particular rendition.
The graphics were way too 'busy' and impractical to be scary, with 'things' all over the place that truly shouldn't need to be along the way to make it immersive and the storyline was both run of the mill and helter skelter and just too contrived and simple to be believable or pan out as an especially spooky tale IMO.
So, bottom line, this was just not my cup of 'Blue Tea'... I'd have liked a little less artificial additives in my 'cup'. Better luck next time... I'll check out whatever is offered next, yet will probably have to pass on this invitation to tea.
Definitely download and test it out... everyone appreciates different 'flavors'... it's just not to my particular liking overall.

I played this as an adventure game at one time.... it is still at least as excellent as ADV/HOG.... and, yes... some games you need to do a little reading [gasp], lol. In this case, it doesn't take away from the game at all, it actually ADDs to the game because it helps tell a story with a beginning, middle and end.
Graphics are now better than the original game [since it was an original point and click adventure]. Granted, the graphics are NOT the ornate detail with bells and whistles typical @ BFG; yet, again, due to the fact there should actually be the plot that flows throughout the game, there is no great need for the overly embellished screens because one can become enmeshed in the flow of the story itself. Oh, and actually, overall, the graphics are quite colorful, clear, and interesting.
Gameplay in this remake is somewhat simplified since it's very guided even on the most difficult setting, yet the basic premise of the original game is still good so far as I've played.
I think it's a great idea to dust off and recreate some of the older games [they were GREAT]. Overall, I enjoy adventures better w/o H0G, yet if it pulls in more fishies for the fun of the play.... this will be a plus!
Either way?
I LIKE it and will buy; hope you give it a chance and if so, I believe you may enjoy it at least as much as I have both times through!! : )
Enjoy.
I recommend this game!

I thought the prior reviews were a bit harsh and star ratings didn't reflect actual statements in many cases so in view of that, I'm bumping it up a star in hopes fishies will at least check it out and not totally disregard the game based on low reviews. : } I think it's a fun game with seasonal gameplay value and it's just a little different than the norm and I like that.
So, the overall this game play is a point & click H0G / adventure... a game with a tale to tell!! Even the "extreme gameplay" is much easier than we're used to with most BFG games, yet, I'm hoping it will be a fun and spooky little game with an interesting twist in being based on a 'real' case.
The graphics are good, nothing great but appealing to the season of Fall... the sound just ok and the characters are well outlined in every respect.
So, via the Demo, I thought that the game, being based on a true haunting, was appealing and had the creepiness factor I like/need at this time of year. Overall so far it looks like it will be a fun and simple enough diversion and I look forward to playing it while I wait for Trick or Treat ghosts and goblins to knock on the door for candy... and will purchase with a credit.
My guess is that Paranormal State, Poison Spring probably has/had it's strongest appeal in the tweens age group, but, hey... it's Halloween! Time to put the age barriers aside a bit and HAVE SOME FUN, right!!??

I tried the Demo and hit the BUY button before I even finished ~~ I've been playing it between other games. Especially with Halloween just around the corner, this game sets the mood and adds some mindless challenge [well actually, since I don't play Match 3 all that much, and I'm playing on timed mode, it's not as mindless as I first believed it would be, lol].
Anyhoo, I do believe this Match 3 will appeal to YOUNG AND OLD ALIKE in every way, since it offers the timed mode as well as relaxed [untimed] and the graphics with storyline are very appealing for all ages, too. There is a progressive little storyline, and as you travel along the narrative playing the M3 levels, you will gather purchased and free items [such as black cat, grave stone, etc] and be able to decorate your 'own' haunted house to keep evil away. The game also offers wallpaper for your desktop!! :)
As for the spook factor in general.... the illustrations and music were just PERFECTLY chillingly wonderful and everything about the game was what I recall from my entire life of "spooky, spooky fun" for Halloween. You may even be tempted to play it at other times as well. ; }

If this game had stayed away from overt occult, I would have given it 5 stars. As it stands, there was too much occult activity and I don't appreciate occult depicted in my gaming at all, let alone participation in same.
Unfortunate this game didn't stay on track with strictly the incredibly good 'spooky' atmosphere because I would have purchased this for Halloween thrills. As it stands, I can't buy.
What a shame... the developer has what it takes and outshines every game in creativity and creepiness factor, yet it took that one step too far IMO. :(
If this dev goes back to the drawing board and doesn't cross the line of religious respect, it would be incredibly great.
Thumbs up for originality and full-blown scary impact... please try again for folks such as myself and IMO you will have a 5 star WINNER.

Based on demo of CE:
There is SO much gorgeous artistry and vivid imagination going on here... I truly am enjoying every single step of the way thus far.
The beginning was a tad slow as far of my warming up to it and I agree the main character's voice was a bit not to my liking, yet those are my ONLY qualms with this WONDERFUL romantic, fairytale, humorous, delightful, lovely and incredibly creative adventure game.
SFX, music, cut scenes and most voiceovers were great IMO (other than mentioned above) and the mystical creatures were NOT too cutesy... they melded perfectly with the theme. There were some funny little bits of infamous fairytales woven in... everything just so well done. I haven't finished, yet had to stop to chime in my 2 cents, lol.
So....YAY>>> My faith has been restored in casual gaming and now, ever the optimist, I'll be back to check for more like this.
It's an easy game even on the most difficult setting, yet this does not IMO discredit the game in any way... I liked it 100% overall.
SUPER HIGH FIVE KUDOS to devs and BFG on this GREAT GAME!!! Can you tell I'm enjoying it!?

Yep... 'the elephants' have gone a bit 'mad' in creating such a storyline as is depicted in this game IMO... elephants... usually quite strong and yet gentle despite their imposing stature, intelligent and beautiful creatures with the ability to move mountains and win wars.... whoa is me, they have almost completely lost their balance I'm thinking.
Why do I say this??? Well to simplify and to come right to the point... there is way too much going on.... and what IS going on is not pleasant. There are many creative aspects to the game, yet overall the creativity gets lost in the shuffle of the game's lack of flow and consistency and overall it suffers tremendously from overt ADD/psychotic behavior in it's telling. Yep, definitely rogue.
Sad... sad... sad; yet I have high hopes for the next game the elephants present us with... please don't let us down!!??
