The main thing this game has going for it is that it is a very long and complex game - lots of different locations. There are also collectibles and achievements for those who like that sort of thing (I don't). Game play along the way is average to good. There is a jump map and good HINT button. The bad things about this game are, number 1, bugs. The ones I found correct themselves if I exited the game and started again. The English is poor in many cases with comical VOs. The artwork is just OK. The story is lame and is almost comical in it's telling. The heroine wears a good suit and heels in her adventures, for example. If you kind of close your eyes and forget the bad stuff, the game is enjoyable.
This is a top-notch game in every respect. The production is outstanding with what seems to be an authentic rendition of the Smithsonian except maybe the hidden elevator. There are many extras such as the interesting fact cards, collectibles, souvenir room, and the usual other stuff. Game play includes innovative HOS and puzzles, custom settings, and a jump map. Very well done. The story is interesting and is well told. The bonus chapter is just OK, but it does continue the story. This is one of the best games available. .
The production of this game is outstanding - great artwork, very amusing characters, good VOs, good music, good everything. It's easily a five star, except game play has many annoying features, too many to list. I so wanted it to be better, because it is fun being "in" the story, but it is so bad that the game isn't really much fun to play. Very sad.
This is a well designed game of good length. The story is interesting and is well told with a good journal. The setting is great, all these old ships. Good production with VOs. Game play is average. There are lots of HOS that are of the junk pile variety with IA. This kind of detracts from the game, but not too badly. There aren't that many puzzles, and they are the standards. There is a jump map, but it isn't informative. The HINT button works well, although it doesn't include jumps and is slow charging. It is very enjoyable, but there is a lot of back-and-forth.
I recommend this game!

Haunted Legends: The Stone Guest Collector's Edition
Someone is stealing the hearts of children – literally! Is it a brilliant inventor, seeking to cure his ailing son? Or has dark magic taken over the village...
It seems as though this developer and other top developers (all starting with E) are resting on their laurels and producing less than top-notch games now. The production is average with poor VOs. The story seems interesting, but it gets confusing and there isn't a journal to rely on. Game play is poor. The HOS are mostly same-old-same-old with just a little IA. Some HOS are awful, configured on a stained glass background with eye straining objects to find. The puzzles are very easy and boring. There is an informative jump map, but its usefulness is compromised by indicating every location where action could be made if only you had what was needed. The HINT button usually works well, but it gets a hiccup at times and gives up. There aren't any collectibles but there are achievements. The bonus chapter is a continuation of the story and is of decent length. I sure don't recommend this game as a CE. An SE? Maybe.
I loved the other Surface games, but this one is a stinker. The production is super, very well done, great VOs, etc. The music is awful, very overbearing. I couldn't turn the volume down low enough to make it go away. The story is interesting and is fairly well told. Game play is very poor. Puzzles are all simple. HOS are pretty straightforward and not a challenge at all. There isn't a map, but you don't need one. The HINT button works well. This is a very short game. The bonus chapter kind of continued the story, and was equally short. The two together are not as long as many games. There are collectibles (big deal) and this developer's favorite - flowers to find. The flowers can be used to decorate a room - give me a break. I don't recommend this game especially as a CE. Get it only if you have a credit to use.
This is a well produced game with good artwork and great VOs. The music fits well, too. It's weird, but that's the name of the game. The story is interesting and is well told. There is another story after you complete the first one - it's a long game. Game play is top-notch. There is one of every kind of HOS, and they are all IA. There are many puzzles, and they are well designed. The HINT button works well, and there is a jump map. This is one of the better designed games I have seen. I don't know why nobody else has reviewed it. Maybe because it isn't a fairy tale with a handsome prince. Play this game. You will enjoy it.
As usual for this developer, the production is outstanding except I have never cared for their use of cameo shots of characters talking in the foreground with them still standing in the background. At least their lips move. Game play is average, and there is a good jump map. There is one annoying feature: you find slides and put them in a camera where you see two side-by-side shots of rooms. I couldn't figure out what one was supposed to do, so I just randomly clicked around until some message came up. Really dumb and poorly thought out. I recommend this game, but only as an SE. I have just played the demo and will wait for it to buy.
BF must have dug deep into the vault of old games to find this dog. It may have seemed OK twenty or so years ago. Now, it has absolutely nothing to recommend it. Don't even bother wasting your time on the demo.
I was really impressed by the demo of this game, and so I bought the CE. I was disappointed in the whole game. The story has an interesting premise (kids with paranormal abilities being kidnapped in order to use their abilities), but the story is so full of holes, that it loses interest after awhile. Where did these kids come from to begin with? The bad guys are intent on killing our hero, yet capture her instead and send her to some island? Where did this island come from? The whole bonus chapter takes place there. Really bad. Game play was OK. Great cut scenes. Good hints and map. If you can ignore the dumb story, I recommend this game but only as an SE.
