This game is well produced and is fun to play. It's too bad the story is so awful with more holes than Swiss cheese. Who is the "bad" sister? The guy is going to get medicine for his wife, but he ends up working in a bookstore? A real mess.
I know this is just a game, but you'd think the developers would take at least a shot at some authenticity. Mixed cultures abound. Roman columns and arches in a Native American (NA) setting. Mixed NA cultures - Mayan, Aztec, Inuit, you name it, it's there. What a mess. I guess if you ignore this mess, the game is OK.
I recommend this game!

This game is top-notch in every respect and fun to play. Even the usually annoying "helper" is fun in this game.

This game's production is top notch - great artwork, VO's, etc. Too bad it's wasted on such a lame story. The personification of Death in this game is not our old, tried-and-true Grim Reaper, but is a handsome, medieval knight. Some of the females in the audience might welcome death from this guy. Seems as though Death needs help and appeals to you, the almighty detective, for help. People are cheating death which will upset the balance of the world. He gives you these tools to use, but doesn't explain why he couldn't just use them himself. He can take your life away, but he can't solve this little problem. Give me a break!
Game play is not the best, either, in my opinion. Lots of back-and-forth using a jump map, and lots of mixing and analyzing in a lab. Really not much fun.
I don't recommend this game unless you can get it on sale.

I bought this game after enjoying the demo. Unfortunately, it was all downhill after that. As others have pointed out, the game is very short, and the bonus chapter is a joke - so short you hardly get going before it's over. The "extras" are worthless, too.
The story and game play are pretty lame. Not well designed at all. Artwork and music are the same for games from this developer. It would be nice if they found a different tune.
I don't recommend this game as a CE. Totally not worth the money. Maybe, just maybe as a SE.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a fairly well produced game, artwork, characters, etc. Game play is a little on the less than OK side. Object manipulation (pickup and placement) were not the best, sometimes taking several tries. There are a number of spelling difficulties, too. (What is a "flack"? A flask misspelled.)
There isn't a map, and there is a fair amount of back-and-forth, but the HINT button works well.
The story is well told with a very good diary. Too bad it's so far fetched as to be ridiculous. The "all powerful" bad guys are very easy for you, the hero, to overcome, while the rest of humanity was powerless. Give me a break.
The game is of good length, and I recommend it if you don't expect too much or have free game begging to be used.
I recommend this game!

I played the demo and then bought the game. At first I couldn't understand why this game got some bad reviews. As I continued playing the game, I wondered why anybody gave it a good review. Talk about a disappointing game that looked so promising at first!
The story is disjointed and just plain awful. There are so many bad points about the story that I would need more room to list them all. One striking bad thing is that you gather clues as to who-done-it (sounds interesting, huh), but you never use them. The villain is revealed in short order, which is par for this game since it is short. There are alternate endings for the game, so maybe if you select the one I didn't, you get to use the clues. I'll never know, because I for sure will not repeat the misery of playing this dog to find out.
The bonus chapter seemed longer than the main game, but that may be due the torture I felt in playing it. The story here is only remotely connected to the main story if it is connected at all. Terrible!
Game play is also bad. There are some fragmented object scenes where you can't pick up all the pieces until you place others where they belong even though they are in plain view. Frustrating to say the least. One towards the end of the bonus chapter had me wanting to quit right there, but I'm too stubborn to do so.
This has got to be one of the worst games I have played. I can't imagine anybody giving it a good review.
I don't recommend this game.

I am constantly amazed at the imagination of some game developers. There have been all manner of creatures to help you, cute little dogs and cats, elves, etc. I thought that surely there was nothing new when I saw the hero's friend turned into a jaguar and the hero's mother turned into a weasel to help you in other games. This game has raised the bar. It has the ghost of a dog, a ghost, to help you. OMG!
The game is actually not too bad despite this. The story is interesting, and I might end up buying the SE version when it comes out just to see the end. (I only played the demo so far.) Production and game play are average to good. The HINT button works well.
I recommend this game but only as an SE. I don't think it is worth the extra cost of a CE.
I recommend this game!

The game's production is not the best (poor VOs, etc.), but the game is well designed and fun to play. The story is so-so, not good but not bad either. It is a long game with many locations, and game play is good. My only big gripe is that there is a fair amount of back-and-forth, and there isn't a map to help. The HINT button works well, pointing you in the right direction.
I recommend this game!

This game doesn't have a cute, little critter to help you. Instead (are you sitting down), your friend is turned into a jaguar, and he/it helps you. Good grief! What's next? I won't even try to imagine what it is.
I must admit that I didn't like any of the games in this series, and this one wasn't a disappointment in being just as bad. The story is lame and contrived, game play is routine and the production is average at best. There is absolutely nothing to recommend about this game. Instead of wasting your time with this dog (cat?), turn off your computer, hit the sack and try not to have nightmares about weird animals trying to help you.
I don't recommend this game.

Just when I thought (hoped, really) that I had seen my last BF game featuring witches and evil dwarfs, along comes this dog. I only played (started to play but couldn't stand to finish) the demo, but it was making me sick, so I had to quit. The story starts out in the middle of something without a clue what led up to the start. Then the evil dwarf appears and scares the cat and creates havoc in general for no apparent reason. Ghosts appear suddenly and add their two cents of nonsense. I gave up when a huge snake started lapping up milk like a cat - give me a break.
This has got to be one of the worst games ever.
I don't recommend this game.
