Took while to get the strategy, as I'd never seen a game like it, but by making matches higher up the board you can cut off whole blocks, which will turn gold or silver. Various pairs of things to find - pick and jewel matches to rise in rank, pairs of characters, and in later levels free the fairies. Love the silly storyline - so many games take themselves too seriously.
I love the first Save Halloween, and the devs have really upped their game with this one. The instructions aren't very good - they don't pop up until after the levels in which they're needed - but I like working things out myself. The best thing is the bonuses, especially being able to swap any two for an explosive effect.
I've stopped buying the Laruaville series since they changed the bonuses in Laruavile 7 - (no bomb for a match 4, just a horizontal or vertical rocket for a match 5). But Spellarium has kept the winning formula, now with new features. Please keep it up!
I really like this series, but the only extras in this Collector's Edition are wallpapers, music and replaying the puzzles, so I'll wait for the Standard Edition
Based on the 1 hour demo At first I was pleased that they have made no changes to the tiles and overall design - just added a nice little story. Then some of the levels began to look very familiar! I got to level 26 without finding any of the more interesting conveyor belt levels, or levels with butterflies - not sure how soon they appear in Mundus 1. I'll probably use a game credit on it, but so far it's a bit disappointing.
As a Star Trek fan I like to try sci-fi themed games, and rarely find one to buy. This might be one, though perhaps I'll wait for the standard edition. Excellent art work and a plot that caught my interest. Original and quite easy minigames, interactive HOPs, although only one so far. In the 15 minutes I've played I didn't find any reference in the tutorial to the collectable bleating goats(?) mentioned in the two star review, but I am finding collectable airships.
In the first 2 chapters I had to replay levels to earn more money in order to buy enough bonuses to get through the harder levels, but here there are lots of free wild cards and zombie killers among the cards. As in other chapters you have to replay some of the game before you find all the collectible stickers. Love the new zombie killer minigame.
Don't understand the one star review, but thanks to the reviewer for mentioning other similar games. I'll give then a try when I want another nice little game. I like limited moves games, although this one hasn't got challenging yet, but the decider for me was the bonuses. I always like those which take out an entire row or line.
I'm not a Wizard of Oz fan and I play more match 3 than story games, but of all the Christmas games on offer this time of year, this was the only one I bought. Took some stars off Level of challenge, as even on easy setting I skipped quite a few, but that's not unusual for me. Missed a lot of the emeralds first time round so will be playing it again, but first I'm going to try Christmas Spirit Mother Goose's Untold Tales.
I nearly didn't buy this because I usually don't like games in which you have to collect a certain number of items, but the puzzle elements were still good enough to make me finish the demo, by which time I was hooked again. On some levels it's actually about NOT collecting too many of an item - if you do rocks fall and have to be cleared with explosions. These developers really are in a class of their own with their Match 3!
