Well, this game certainly drags, I made it through about 4 chapters before bailing, do to complete boredom. There are constant back and forth, meaningless tasks to complete, I don't mind having to travel a few scenes back to use a newfound item or two and then moving on, but picking up 1 item, going to the last scene to use it, only to get another item I have to use in the scene I was just at, only to repeat this several times...too much, too boring! Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
Scarlett was just a child when her father abandoned her at the orphanage. His last words to her echoed through her mind all of her childhood life "I cannot protect you any longer, I'll return when I find a solution" Jonathan Everitt never returned for Scarlett, and when she discovered a letter addressed to her father, she knew it was finally time to search for answers. Her journey, however, only led to more unanswered questions. One thing's for certain, all roads lead to the abandoned Steameyer Factory, and Baronet Steameyer is desperately trying to block her every move, but why?
The Hidden Object Scenes were kind of scarce, but then again, the demo was really short. There are only 2 in the demo, a Progressive, Interactive Silhouetted Shape find and one that I thought was different, you had to find items related to circled sections on 3 different children's drawings.
The Mini Games are a little too easy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing as long as you enjoy the games. Here's a list with brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Rotate honeycomb shaped pieces to complete image.
2) Swap tiles so each column and row has only 1 identical tile.
3) Slide copper plate to opposite side in a game of blocks.
4) Swap tiles on a honeycomb grid to complete the image.
5) Attach the horns to the correct antlers.
6) Repeat the sequence of highlighted antlers (repeat x 3)
7) Rotate and place broken vase pieces.
8) Find the correct climbing points.
The Collector's Edition version has 5 Music Soundtracks, 6 Wallpapers, Concept Art pictures, re-playable Movie Cutscenes, re-playable Mini Games and Hidden Object Puzzles, 13 Achievements to earn, 29 Morphing Father Trace Objects, 6 Main Chapters + Bonus Chapter (The Past Forgiven) and a built-in Strategy Guide.

Mad Head Games has always been one of my favorite developers because their games are usually current and relevant, and with the exception of a few games within the series they offer, their games have very interesting storylines. This is one of the exceptions however that just didn't thrill me. The graphics are bright and very colorful, I must admit, but I wasn't keen on the story, which is just a personal preference, so you really should give this game a try, because you may very well love this latest Nevertales addition! Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
It's time once again to enter the magical world of Tales, worlds created by the stories written in the real world. Through his books, Godfrey Lane has created a Taleworld filled with Warlocks and Sorceresses, Spells and Curses, Talking Animals, and Powerful Mythical Weapons! One fateful day, Godfrey discovered his Taleworld by sheer chance, when a magical Portal appeared out of nowhere. Godfrey Lane had penned some very imaginative books over the years, but he never imagined he'd become trapped in his own worldly creation, leaving his beautiful baby girl, to grow up without a father! Godfrey's only hope now, lies within the "Spark" the Creator's Spark, this Taleworld's only source of magic!
The Hidden Object Puzzles are varied with Keywords in Sentences, Multiple finds, finding 4 Plates to open an Interactive List find (moves the object to expose puzzle fragments) as well as Zoom Zone HOP's to find Multiple tokens. In the Collector's Edition version, each of the 17 Hidden Object Puzzles has a Morphing Object to find, but there isn't an alternative type of puzzle offered. In the CE version, you can re-play 17 HOP's, and see the stats for each one including the time it took to complete, the % accuracy, your highest score and whether or not you have found the Morph.
The Mini Games are really a little too easy, I'd just personally prefer them to be a bit more challenging, but they aren't horrible games. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Flip the sphere to find matching pairs of tiles.
2) Drop tokens into column slots to aligning 4 tokens in a row.
3) Swap tiles to create the symbol shown in the upper left side.
4) Match pairs of symbols to connect a non-intersecting line
5) Swap pie tile sections to complete the image. (HOP puzzle)
6) Rearrange statue parts to match its mirror reflection.
The Collector's Edition has 4 Wallpapers, 2 Concept Art pictures, 10 Music Soundtracks, 10 Cover Pictures (cover pictures from Nevertales titles) Scrapbook (pictures of heroes and villain dev cartoon avatars) 36 Profile Icons, 17 re-playable Hidden Object Puzzles, 11 Achievements to earn, 31 collectible Story Memento's, 31 hidden Mad Head Games Spirals, 17 Morphing Objects within the HOP's, 5 Chapters + Bonus Chapter and a built in Strategy Guide, happy gaming!

After playing Plantera a few days ago, I thought this game was going similar, a simplistic Time Management game geared towards children. I hadn't played the first two games so I didn't really know what to expect, but this game is awesome! It's unique, really addicting, and requires using strategy to earn all 3 stars. You will earn more points if you finish the goals within the allotted time, but it's not necessary to try to rush to beat the clock if you prefer a relaxing game.
I love that this TM game takes place in the treetops and that most of the tasks are different than most, but you'll still need to gather some resources, build houses to add workers, sawmills to produce wood, and build bridges to get from point A to B. You can skip the dialog, but you may not want to, because often times the Tribloos give you solid advice and clues to help you strategize.
If you have enough resources, Icons will appear above the different tasks. When you click on the Icon, it will prompt a Tribloo to begin the task, but the coolest part is that you can then choose how many Tribloos you want to assign to the task! Obviously the more workers you assign, the faster the job gets done, you can assign several workers to one task, and then deduct some of the workers if you want to assign them to a different task. After completing the construction, some constructions require workers to be assigned to then gather the resources, such as a Sawmill, and the consequence wood it produces.
Eventually, the birds arrive to throw a wrench into the strategically planned out mission. Constructing Bird Deterrent buildings with alarms will help drive them away when you assign a worker to sound the alarm. The birds will scare away the workers and you'll have to wait for the birds to leave before you can reassign the tasks at hand.
You can take a Screenshot of the completed levels, and there are 40 Achievements to earn. The tasks are listed to the left of the screen in a large Icon, so it's very easy to know what the level goals are, and which goals still need to be completed. This will be a definite purchase for me as soon as I receive my next credit :)

Rumor has it that the Morante family sold their souls for their wealth and power, and have been paying the price ever since! Don Raimondo Morante died last night, and his wife, Dora is convinced that his first wife is responsible, but Selena has been dead for over five years! Is this the work of an ancient curse collecting their dues, or do the Morante women have a curse up their sleeves?
I'm super impressed with the graphics. This is the best I've seen in a Grim Facade game, which seems to have opted for more CG graphics over the muted yellowish hand-drawn graphics of prior games. This is a very puzzle heavy game, which is my personal preference, but sure to disappoint many die-hard HOP fans. There's just something about this game that doesn't float my Queen Victoria yacht, perhaps the meaningless tasks, the repetitiveness, or the slow-moving plot? There are also Conversation Choices, but this feature rarely excites me nowadays, however, if it made a difference in the outcome of the story, that would be a whole different ballgame!
This Collector's Edition version offers 27 Morphing G & F Letters and Collectible Coin Tokens that allow you to purchase upgrades or repairs to your new-found yacht. These coins, however, are different than the regular gold coins you collect throughout the game that are used to purchase items from the boatman, and really these coins aren't collected, they're looted! All Grim Facade games have this feature, and none of the coins are earned honestly, the detective simply pockets any loose change he finds in peoples houses, but since they're rich and cursed as well, I suppose it's all good.
The Hidden Object Scenes are rather scarce, mostly Multiples or Fragment finds, but I did rather enjoy finding words with No, Not or any word ending with n't on several documents, such as don't, won't, wasn't etc. Some of the HOP's have small puzzles within them.
The Mini Games are in abundance, several of which are 2-3 part games, and some are available in a Casual or Hard mode Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
!) Guess the sequence of code given.
2) Place bell fragments into highlighted spaces.
3) Arrange symbols on beam according to clue.
4) Ring bells correctly by selecting bells with partial symbols.
5) Lead boat through the maze avoiding obstacles.
6) Create a path for all 3 waterways by adjusting grooves.
7) Select matching pairs of water lilies that are shown.
8) Use small tokens to toggle gates to clear a path.
9) Drag puzzle strips to complete image.
10) Swap puzzle sections to complete image.
11) Rotate puzzle pieces to complete image.
12) Connect thread to connectors maintaining center intersect
13) Select claws to open, 1 affects others.
14) Remove the bars by choosing non-connected bars.
This Collector's Edition version has 12 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art pictures, 5 Screensavers, 4 Music Soundtracks (I'm still curious to know if anyone downloads these music soundtracks?) 20 Movie Video Cutscenes, 14 re-playable Mini-Games, 14 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Achievements to earn, 27 Morphing G & F Letters (would have been cooler if they were morphing letters that spelled Grim Facade: Broken Sacrament!) Collectible Coin Tokens that allow you to purchase repairs for your Yacht, Queen Victoria (which supposedly was a yacht you found drifting at sea?) 3 Main Chapters + Bonus Chapter and a built in Strategy Guide, happy gaming :)

I knew this was a must-have game when I became so engrossed in it that the sudden ending of the demo surprised me, and I was just about to beat the level too! I have played thousands of games, but I've never played one quite like this.
Basically, you slide the numbered tiles strategically around the board (using keyboard arrows or your mouse) trying to position two identical numbered tiles together, such as two number 2 tiles. Once you push the tiles together, they add together and become a new tile. For example, you push the two number 2's together and a number 4 tile appears, push two number 4 tiles together and a number 8 tile appears, push two number 8 tiles together and a number 16 tile appears and so on. It sounds easy, but when you push the tiles in a row or column, the entire board moves with it, so you have to "set up" the tiles by manipulating them and taking advantage of rows or columns that are full and can't move.
Some levels require you to make a specified number of matches within a specified amount of moves, but they give you plenty of moves to complete the task, and at least in the demo, there's no time limit. Other levels require you to earn a specified amount of points, and some levels add a new tile with each move. As you progress, obstacles are added such as brick walls that don't move and can't be destroyed, even with a power-up bomb. The brick walls can actually be used to your advantage to help manipulate and break up the pattern movement, but it can also ruin a good set up.
There are 6 Episodes and each Episode has about 20 Levels, and there are 30 Achievement Trophies to earn. Give this game a try, it's different, it's unique and very addictive!

This is another game designed for wasting time on your phone and as an app, it might be entertaining for a couple of days, but not so much as a full-fledged computer game. For starters, the graphics look like something you'd see on one of those old-school computers that took up an entire desk just for the monitor. The little creatures remind me of Pac-man and there are absolutely no instructions unless you count the pointy arrows that occasionally pop up, but even then you're just left wondering about the who, what, where, when and why's.
Basically, you plant veggies, fruit trees and bushes, harvest the fruit and veggies to earn coins and plant more fruits and veggies with the coins you earn. I'm not sure why this game is classified as a Time Management game, you aren't really doing anything related to Time Management other than wasting time. From what I can see, you aren't penalized for taking too much time, as a matter of fact, you don't even have to do anything, the little blue critters that appear out of nowhere will harvest the food for you! Eventually, some baddies appear to steal your fruits and veggies, but you can buy a dog to guard the cash crop. Butterflies also appear out of thin air, and for some reason, a select few have circles around them and if you click on them they will earn you coins as well.

Other than different layouts, there's really nothing different. The graphics aren't stellar, the storyline is weak, and the one feature that sets this game apart from all the other Time Management games, is the humor, but there isn't much humor in this one. You can play in a Relaxed, Normal or Expert mode, (Expert wasn't available previously) there are 50 Levels and 15 Bonus Levels available.
There are the usual Time Management tasks, of clearing paths, harvesting food, cutting down trees, repairing bridges, and gathering other resources. Mana is gathered to allow Mary to cast spells, which give you Faster Workers, Faster growing Crops, and instant Tree regrowth etc. Buildings of various types must be constructed, such as Sawmills and Foundry's, and as you progress, other buildings become available to help you replenish various resources faster, depending on the level goals. Those dreaded Zombie Skeleton's have returned, and if you don't pay attention, they can easily mess up your strategic plans. As soon as they are spotted, you'll need to click on them, which sends John to destroy them in his tight, but shining armor. If you aren't quick enough, workers will get scared off, and all of the queued tasks you had selected previously, will have to be re-clicked, once John has won the battle, and cleared the way.

I've never been a fan of the Collector's Edition version for a TM game. I personally don't see a need for a Strategy Guide, (although, I would love to see some sort of Hint feature added, to use when I'm not sure what I should do next, on occasion) and I could care less about most of the CE extras offered, such as, Wallpapers and Music. I did, however, enjoy finding the hidden Puzzle Piece in most of the levels, which allows you to assemble a Jigsaw Puzzle in the CE, but that's not a feature I'm willing to pay twice as much for!
This Collector's Edition version has 30 Achievements to earn, 26 Movie Cutscenes, 10 Music Soundtracks, 6 Wallpapers, 32 Collectible Puzzle Pieces to assemble a Jigsaw Puzzle, 50 Levels + 15 Bonus Levels and a Strategy Guide.

The first game in this series, Eventide: Slavic Fable, was released as a Collector's Edition with all the bells and whistles and of course, at a CE price. The second game, Eventide 2: Sorcerer's Mirror, was released as a Standard Edition, but still had all the bells and whistles of a CE, There were14 Cards with Imps, and 20 Glimmering Mirrors to collect as well as Achievements to earn in several different categories, which is unheard of in a SE version! In both of those games, the graphics were simply beautiful, the kind of beautiful that makes you stop and take notice of all the details! Finally, number 3 comes along, Legacy of Legends, and there are no bells, no whistles, the hand-drawn graphics are muted and unappealing, and the demo only lasts about 30 minutes! What happened? How can such a beautiful fantasy game take such a drastic nose-dive, when all 3 games were developed by House of Fables, and all 3 games were produced by Artifex Mundi?
The two features this series offered before, were really cool features. There was a Herbarium section in your diary that was used as a picture reference during the HO's which made the HOP's way more interesting. You also had a section that listed your "Moral Choices" During the game, you would be given the chance to make several moral decisions, and the decisions you made actually affected the ending of the game! (makes you want to play that game now, doesn't it?)
In the first game of this series, Mary's Grandmother asks for your help as a botanist, to save Heritage Park in Moorland. When you arrive, Grandma has been kidnapped by her own assistant, Boruta. He was desperate to acquire a magical potion that was capable of temporarily transforming the Slavic creatures, into humans!
In the second game, you must rescue your niece Jenny, who was kidnapped by a sorcerer named Tvardosky. He was a greedy, evil sorcerer, who trapped the souls of his victims inside a magical mirror, and charged his loved ones to speak with them!
In Legacy of Legends, the third installment of the series, Mary decided that the perfect location to plant a magical fern was in the forest behind her brother's house. Little did she know, that because of the magic fern, her brother John, would be kidnapped by flying serpents called Zmey's. These mythical creatures have taken John to Vyrai, a legendary floating land in the clouds, where its people are capable of influencing our weather!
The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly Multiple Item finds but also include standard Interactive List Item finds as well. The scenes are clear and but at times, objects are difficult to recognize when they are all lumped together.
The two Mini Games available in this demo, are simplistic and fairly easy to solve, but with less than a half hour demo available, it's difficult to get a feel for how complex games are going to be. Below are brief descriptions of the games offered in this very short demo:
1) Find all 3 sections of each symbol shown on book pages.
2) Guide the Aitvar through the sky, avoiding obstacles.

For the first time, I couldn't finish a Haunted Hotel game, and I have played every game in this series! There's nothing haunted about this Hotel, it's nothing more than a story about a mad scientist and his unethical experiments. It's not even a good story about a mad scientist! The tasks are the same ole same ole, the HOP's are all about the same, and the puzzle directions are inadequate. Hopefully, this is just a dip in the series, because this has always been one of my favorite series. It's a no-go for me personally, but here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
Mark and Jane were on board the train, heading for their dream vacation in the Alps, but they never reached their destination. In a cataclysmic chain of events, the train derailed, near the abandoned Schneider Hotel and Spa, which just so happens to be owned by Dr, Tony Schneider. When Mark finally regains consciousness, he soon discovers that the train derailment wasn't the horrible part, but the Schneider Hotel where he ended up at is! Mark remains calm, determined to find Jane, but the only amenities this Hotel has to offer, are cobwebs and a dark past. Either Mark's injuries were more intense than he'd imagined, or the abandoned Hotel's creepiness is playing tricks on his own mind. Separating reality from delusion proves to be more difficult than he imagined, because this Hotel is Haunted, and this Haunted Hotel wants Mark and Jane to become permanent guests!
We have a problem folks, somebody forgot to put the Haunted into the Hotel, the Spook into the Spooky, the Scare into the Scary, the Fright into the Frightening! Yep, the atmosphere inside the Schneider Hotel (and Spa to make it even cheerier) is practically all warm and fuzzy, filled with kittens, puppies, and unicorns! Lost Dreams is just another story about a madman trying to resurrect a family member, and other than the first couple of basic Haunted Hotel HO games, this is the first Haunted Hotel game that didn't thrill me, just another mediocre game that's easily forgettable!
One of the reasons I've always loved Elephant Games is because I love the way they're able to create graphics that give off a creepy vibe, graphics that are crystal clear. I fell in love with the type of graphics, and the atmosphere they create, when I first discovered the early versions of the Mystery Trackers series, and I couldn't get enough, playing one Elephant game after another (who also never let me down with my favorite feature, Morphing Objects) But all that has changed with their games lately, and at times, the graphics in Lost Dreams, was downright blurry! As far as the Collector's Edition bling goes, it does offer features I love, such as a Morphing Object in each scene, Morphing Memory Elements and Screensaver Puzzle Pieces that are located strategically throughout the game.
The Hidden Object Scenes offer a variety of types such as Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds and uncovering Matching Pairs. Although they aren't horrible, they aren't fantastic either and offer nothing new, or alternatives.
The Mini Games, in my opinion, have the worst directions or explanations I've seen in a long time, they leave a lot to the imagination, but maybe that's the plan to make them more challenging? If I hadn't been familiar with most of the games, I'd probably have had to skip some of them from lack of guidance. Here's a list with brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Slide tokens to their correct slots shown on the side.
2) Select icon symbols that match symbols shown in center,
3) Choose the correct location of lights by memory.
4) Rotate disk ring to restore the pattern.
5) Adjust liquid levels to match the hint shown on the labels.
6) Select Numerals to equal the sums on columns and rows.
7) Rotate disc rings until all contain the same colored gems.
The Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 4 Music Soundtracks, 12 re-playable Mini Games, 15 Hidden Object Scenes, a Secret Room, 18 Achievements to earn, 13 Morphing Memory Elements, 20 Collectible Puzzle Pieces, 3 Screensavers (once all puzzle pieces are found) 27 Morphing Objects, 5 Main Chapters + Bonus Chapter and a built-in Strategy Guide.

In Blood starts out with a bang, and after playing the CE demo, I knew I just had to have this game! As with all Vermillion Watch games, you get to choose the Chapters in whichever order you want, but it has absolutely no impact on any aspect of the game, which is kind of a bummer. The three chapters (between 1 & 5) are simply chapters that focus on each of the three characters, Carmilla's Penthouse, Varney's Atelier and Dracul's Train.
Because each of those chapters only deals with a single person, it can get a little dull at times, and they are quite lengthy chapters at that. I also grew weary of all the recipe following tasks, it felt like that was all I was doing, searching for ingredients, making potions, forging emblems, finding more ingredients, making more potions, it just kept going on and on, until I was bored halfway through each chapter and desperately wanting to move on. I've never been a fan of making recipes and following step by step instructions in just the right order, but if you enjoy those types of puzzles, it will a perfectly fine game. Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you:
The insidious Red Queen has finally met her demise, (or has she?) so Master Hawkes can finally breathe a sigh of relief, now that the foggy streets of London are once again safe. The Vermillion Watch remains vigilant, quietly blending into London's society of elites, secretly gathering intelligence, and always keeping tabs on suspicious behaviors. Perhaps the Vermillion Watch let their guard down prematurely, or perhaps tonight's strange occurrence was too unfathomable for the human mind to comprehend. Because tonight, an Evil has been awakened, always vigilant and capable of secretly blending into London's society as a means to gather intelligence. An Evil with an insatiable appetite......for blood!
This is the exact storyline Vermillion Watch needs to adhere to, the Jekyll & Hyde, Jack the Ripper, Burke & Hare, Eleanor Pearcey, Dr. Thomas Neill Cream, Dr. William Palmer, Mary Ann Cotton kind of legendary serial killers of 19th century London, NOT the Wizard of Oz American scenario! The streets of London were brutal in Victorian London, it doesn't mean the game has to be brutal, but Dracula sure makes for an interesting subject now doesn't it!
The Collector's Edition version has some CE bling, with the usual wallpapers, music, movies, achievements, replayable mini-games and hop's, strategy guide and bonus chapter. Other than those staple features, the only collectibles are fairly large not so hidden Drops, and of course Morphing Objects offered only within the HOP's (PLEASE LISTEN EIPIX...most players want morphs in each scene, you can keep them in the HOP's just add them to each scene for a perfect CE game!) I'd probably even be willing to pay a buck or two more if a game had some killer morphs, something very challenging such as those offered within the earlier Dark Parable games, that were non-linear and didn't morph until triggered by an action in a different scene! (now that was creative)
The Hidden Object Scenes are a wee bit scarce in the demo, but there are 24 in total. Most of the HOP's are List finds, some have slight Interactions required such as opening something or moving an object out of the way. There are also Multiple finds, Keywords in Sentence finds and Sketched picture finds, but not a lot of variety, even Each HOP has 1 Morphing Object to find in the CE version, and no alternate puzzle offered.
The Mini Games are decent and range from easy to medium difficulty and they haven't offered those dreaded, clicking on one may affect others, kind of frustrating puzzles! Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo:
1) Rotate cubes to match the schematics.
2) Stack discs on bases with vertical rods of various heights.
3) Push rows and columns so each has identical horseshoes.
4) Adjust the legs of each horse to match the picture.
5) Select the correct partial labels and then the correct bottle. 6) Click cylinder pins to match the pattern on the music sheet
7) Repeat the piano key sequence of eye movements.
8) Rotate rings on discs to create the symbols shown.
9) Search the room through a keyhole to find objects.
The Collector's Edition version has 9 Wallpapers, 9 Concept Art pictures, 9 Developer before & after split pictures, 12 Music Soundtracks, 7 Video Movie Cutscenes, 24 re-playable Hidden Object Puzzles, 29 re-playable Mini Games, 15 Achievements to earn, 12 Souvenir items to locate, 42 collectible Hidden Drops, 24 Morphing Objects within the Hidden Object Puzzles, 5 Main Chapters + Bonus Chapter and a built-in Strategy Guide.
