Same old, same old. Change the title to bring in suckers. There is a reason why people do not like Spirit Legends any more. Calling it Spirits Chroncles does not make it any better.
I love retro, quirky games - as opposed to the cookie cutter ones we are offered too frequently. I wanted to love this.
Except that the developers did not know how to structure it nor get a decent hint system - or put warnings.
The point is that I got a coin by fishing and selling fish. I spent it getting rum to give the old guy in exchange for a game that I exchanged for dice. Fine enough. Now what do I do? Hint says "give coin to singer"
Except that I do not have a coin nor way to get one. Was I supposed to pay the singer BEFORE? And why was not some obstacle put in before I bought the rum? And why could I not get another fish to sell?
This developer needs to learn the basics of developing a game. No flashy graphics, no sound effects, but make sure that if things are to be done in certain order that all steps are done in time
It is an interesting game with some nice twists. You got to strategize a bit.
The problem was with the story. Or rahter lack of consistency. We are told that they are the first people in the planet. Or that they are trapped in a cave in.
So what do they do? Put up tourist housing and charge rent. Who are they charging rent to? There are no other people.
I know charging rent in standard so they did. But that would have been avoided if they did not make it SF.
Or they could have set up energy sources to extract the metals and quartz.
In other games you are awed by the cleverness of the minigames and HOGs. Here you are entranced by the story and atmosphere. I just want to know WHAT HAPPENED and WHAT ELSE WILL HAPPEN. The visuals are stunning adding a sense of dread to the story.
As I said in other occasions, Story is all. If the story bores you nothing will save the game. And this story is AWESOME
The settings are truly beautiful, but we do not buy mosaic games for their beauty. The one thing is that the puzzles be complicated and can be solved by logic alone. The puzzles are complicated - and since the grids may not have rows and columns in multiples of 5, you better count your cells. You can switch colors. BUT, not all colors are available. You have to unlock them by opening cells in other colors. This adds to the difficulty.
Except for two or three puzzles that needed hints to be solved, at the end, all of them can be solved by logic, with no hints.
To play it you need steady muscles and quick timing. As I have neither I gave up at the Chinese characters.
It would be nice if developers took into consideration that not everybody has the same manual dexterity and put warnings so that we avoided these kinds of games.
