This game has nothing that would make me purchase it. In fact, I couldn't even finish the demo! BORING!! The puzzles are extremely dated and simple. The artwork is so-so. The music is annoying. Morphs were pretty easy to spot, too. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is that the HOS are pretty good....nothing new, but they aren't as bad as the rest of the game, and it is a HO game, after all.
I really don't get all the 5-star reviews from experienced players....until I look at their review summaries...and 5 stars is mostly what they give for reviews...
As always, give it a try, and decide for yourself!
Review based on demo, only: This is a great game for those starting out in the hidden object world. I am giving it 3.5 stars because, IMHO, it will appeal to a lot of players...although I will not be purchasing it for myself. One of my favorite games of all time was the 1st in this series....McElroy Manor. As the series has progressed, the games have changed drastically, and are not nearly as appealing to me. The colors in this game are mostly blues and greens...very subdued. The morphing objects were very easy for me to spot, and the puzzles were super easy....almost insulting! I especially disliked the one where I was "driving" the boat...what year was that designed in...1980?? It felt like an early edition of an old Asteroids game...or Pong! As always, try it for yourself. If you have played a lot of HOPA games, I think you will find this game tedious and repetitive. I know I did!
Based on demo, only: Solid 4-star game. The original Phantasmat is one of my all time favorite games...this installment is pretty good, considering it is #8 in the series. As others have commented, it is rather dark & dreary, but that is in keeping with the setting/theme....bright and colorful would not be appropriate for this game. I think the puzzles are its best feature. The morphing objects were very easy for me to spot, and not an asset, IMHO. The HOS were also good, but nothing special. As always, try the demo out for yourself.
Based on demo, only: I enjoyed the game...my only pet peeve is the washed-out look it has. This Dev is usually excellent at their graphics, and while the movement , etc is spot on,the colors are drab and lacking... IMHO. While I play mostly for the HOS and puzzles, this does have an interesting story line, too...enough so that I payed attention to it, which is rare. I will purchase it, when a good sale on CEs come around. As always, try it out for yourself!
There is nothing to get excited about in this game, IMHO. While there are a lot of collectibles, of various types, they are all pretty easy to spot...and there is an "indicator" at the bottom of each scene to tell you if there are any collectibles there...and even which type of collectibles are there...which took most of the challenge out, for me. It does have a full-length demo.
There is just absolutely nothing about this game that I didn't find in HOP games several years ago....no WOW factor, at all. It will not be a purchase for me!
As always, try it for yourself...apparently, based on all the 5-star reviews, some gamers did enjoy it.
I was very disappointed in this game after reading all the five-star reviews, but that seems to happen a lot, lately. I found the "fear factor" the devs were going for comical...just not scary at all, especially with the cartoon-like graphics. Puzzles could have been good, but to missed the mark, for me. It's almost as though this was a game started several years ago, shelved, then pulled back out and finished. And what's with the glowing apparatus that is your helper...? Not a good addition, at all!!
As always, try for yourself...apparently some do enjoy this game, I am just not one of them.

I do enjoy this series, overall, but this game is not a purchase for me...at least in the CE form. I may get the SE with a coupon, or in a daily deal. There was nothing special about it that made me want to keep playing. I did get a bit confused in the 3rd HOS...couldn't tell if there was a morphing object in this puzzle, or not. In the "Extras" it looks as though I missed it, even though in the puzzle there is no indicator that there is one (A circle on the right side of the puzzle tells you how many you've found when you hover over it)...and I never found it, after 3 tries. I wonder if it's a glitch in the game? I guess it's just a mystery I'll never have an answer for... (If this is confusing, it will become clearer as you play, I hope.)

As you can tell by my title, I'm not a fan of ERS games, usually. I do have a couple from this series, and this one is probably my favorite. While it still has that ERS vibe, it's a great story, and I enjoyed the game.It has some unique features that made it a purchase, for me...i.e. the microscope/virus in one of the opening HOS. As always, try the demo for yourself...and enjoy!!

My review is based on SE...I just didn't feel CE was enough bang for my buck...and I'm usually a CE girl. I have no regrets purchasing the SE, though...definitely a fun game, and the graphics were great!! Nothing too challenging, in a good way...in fact, fairly easy puzzles, etc. If you're looking for a good, relaxing game, try the demo...hope you like it as much as I did!

ERS is one of my least favorite Devs...all their games have the same feel...and are not to my liking, usually. This game is an exception...where it still has that ERS vibe, it's a lot more fun...kudos to the Devs on this one! I really enjoyed several of the HOS, and found some clever ways the Devs made this a different, fun game...i.e. the microscope/virus cell! It's these unique additions that made this game a "purchase," for me. As always, try the demo for yourself...and enjoy!!
