I played the CE version with a bonus content consisting of mini games and hidden objects scenes that you can replay if you so choose; additionally there is concept art, music, wallpaper, movie scenes to view. I could have done without those and bought the Standard game had there been one. But the artwork and special effects, VOS, puzzles, HOS were very good. You had a map which was good and the game pretty much flowed in the manner that I like. I found it to be a very clever game, though; a fairyland of animals and a helper who was a fairy, who could only be utilized by our obtaining the magic for her. The hint button was an elf, who I named Simon and the fairy's name I chose was Fiona. Cute game for kids in the 10-14 year old range. Although nowadays the younger kids are so techno savvy that I'm sure they could figure it out along the way. I would recommend this game.

Though this game received a high rating, I wasn't all that impressed with this standard edition. There was no map, You didn't get to use some of your items until late into the game. I couldn't wait until the game was over. I found it boring. Great artwork though, good sound effects, redundant music. I like games to flow and I felt this one was a bit choppy. However, I would still recommend it. The puzzles were challenging and interesting. Concept very interesting. Storyline is the same ol' same ol. Hidden object scenes were crisp and good. I give this game a 3 1/2 stars.

I really liked this game. Wasn't very long but there was a lot to do. The HOS were interactive and very clever. The artwork was good, music okay. Real people, good VOS, and fun puzzles. I played the expert mode and the puzzles were pretty easy, some tricky. I think there was a nice variety of things to do in this game. You had crayons, letters, and toys to find and you can tend to forget about these things when you really get into the game. There are achievements you can rack up. After the bonus game you have the extras like more HOS and puzzles to solve. Pretty neat. You get a lot for your money, and take advantage of the deals that Big Fish has to offer. Deal after deal! They're the greatest! Anyway, I gladly recommend this game.

A multitude of things to do in this game! Elephant Games has come through again! Yes, there was a lot of back n' forth and I don't mind it so much as long as there is rhyme to its reason. In the CE version you have a Strategy Guide, hint button, diary, and map. I very rarely play the casual mode any longer. Also, I noticed, too, that when you find an object, there was more to do with it then just one thing, which slowed down the game a bit. Nothing wrong in that. Sometimes, tho, I just wanted to get on with the game but that's what makes the game more interesting. I played the CE version and right now I'm in the bonus game which explains how Mary became so evil and I won't mention the rest as I will be giving it away. Buy the game! I give this 4-1/2-stars even tho Big Fish Games doesn't have the 1/2 option. The game was fun and the concept was awesome. Some very eerie scenes, too. And, of course, it's the same old - same old, good vs. evil, but I like becoming the conqueror in the end! That's the whole point, unless the evil villain escapes, and then you always have the sequel! But in this case, the bonus section right now is very interesting. Anyway, the artwork was amazing; the sound effects were spooky and realistic; Interactive HOS, puzzles/riddles were great, and VOS wonderful. I loved saving the kids and that lil' chipmunk is priceless!!
I'll leave the explanation of the storyline to those great reviewers who take the time to do so. With that said, I bought the standard edition and I'm about half-way through the game. At first I hesitated in buying it because of the dreary scenes, but I thought, 'what the heck', I'll take the plunge, and I'm glad I did. Though you're all over the place, you do have a map (and a great hint button, too), and let me tell you, the characters are extremely interesting and some very humorous, too, like the lady tour guide in the Town Hall who is deathly afraid of a so-called beast lurking in the building! We must find food for it or otherwise, we'll get eaten!! The VOS/acting is incredible and that alone is a plus for me. There is text along with everything else. Lot of great thought into the story and the characters. Very clever game plan even though the objects in your inventory aren't used for a while in some cases. Dark and dreary scenes but the artwork is excellent; sound effects are great; music is very good. At first there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for some of the riddles but as a result they did make sense. So get the game. Take your time. No sweet, fairy-land flavor to this game. I highly recommend it.

I did like this game, I must admit. I played the CE and it had a nice bonus feature, along with screensaver, wallpaper, music, etc. Lots to do but HOS at every corner it seems, but fun, nonetheless. Music was good but redundant (synthesized). ERS developers put a lot of thought into this game. That little man sure is a nuisance. The artwork was well done but dark and grainy in some spots. In one of the interactive HOS you even provide a fly for the toad! Oh, my! Very good VOS. Some etch n' sketch HOS--objects sketched in the walls or within another object. According to my monitor, a few of them were barely visible and hard to find. The game was not difficult though, but the puzzles were inventive and challenging. At one point, I saved the little girl and hid her but I had wished the storyline would have reunited her with her mother. Oh, well, such is the nature of the beast. I would recommend this game but it should have had a map.

ERS always puts out great games and this is one of them. I played the standard game in expert mode and it was a lot of fun. Lots to do and very clever puzzles. Truthfully, though the game flowed really well, I think it should have had a map to export you from point A to point B. All games should come with that, but then the game would have probably ended sooner. The HOS were pretty good; as one reviewer commented it was that last item that became difficult to find. So many lizards! And the game was fairy-tale like but it had a lot to offer. Voiceovers were great, artwork was wonderful and the storyline kept my attention. I really want to give this game 4-1/2 stars but it's not offered here, so a 4-star it is, and I highly recommend this game. BigFish is amazing; they offer great deals for members and non-members alike, and I suggest you grab them when you can. This was one of them and a fun game, to boot!

Powerful and intense! I purchased the CE version and I'm more than half-way into the game, and normally I like to write my reviews when I'm finished, but I'm here to write that though the beginning was ho-hum for me, the game plan changed tremendously and started to flow like you wouldn't believe. Folks this is a must buy game. In the beginning of the game you're pretty much in three or four areas for awhile, but after breaking through some of the barriers, the game picked-up momentum. Kudos to the developers! The artwork is awesome, the sound effects and music are wonderful, repetitious but wonderful! However, the voice-overs really did it for me! Whew! You even hear diabolical laughter in the background from time to time! Absolutely strong peformances from the men--deep and bellowing voices; and the few women that were involved were equally as good. Love this game. You are the last Descendant and you must collect 9 Medallions of Power, plus you have an Amulet that detects the presence of sacred symbols! You have a journal with tasks, strategy guide if you need it, and a hint button. I'm playing the advanced mode and I'm having the time of my life. Again, I was fooled by the slow start of the game, but don't give up, keep pressing on and you won't be sorry! Some of your items in the inventory will rest there for a bit but you will get to use them. A comment appeared at the top when I made the wrong move with an object, which was: "One might expect the Descendant to know better." That got a chuckle out of me. Great interactive HOS, puzzles, you name it. This game's got it all! I highly recommend it!

I bought the CE and I'm at the epilogue of this game and I must write that this game is cute, yes, with its goblins and lil animals here n' there, pocket dragon and the hint owl, which I didn't really need, but there is a journal and you have goals to reach. No map, a myriad of puzzles and things to do and actually there were more minigames than HOS but that was fine by me. You really get your money's worth in this game. The artwork was beautiful, cartoonish-like, but lovely, nonetheless. The narration by the princess was wonderful, and the rest of the communication was via text. As much as I love VOS, sometimes, they're long and drawn-out or overacted at times. A well-developed, extremely clever game. I recommend it.
ERS has created some great games in their time and especially with this series, but Grim Facade: Mystery of Venice CE was okay but not great. Again, it's just a matter of taste. No map, two modes, regular and expert and I played the expert mode. You have a diary which, to me, is always a must. You collect lots of fans but I had no use for them as I didn't use the hint button at all, although I must add that the puzzles were very clever indeed. I skipped a few to be honest, which makes me wonder if I really am an expert. But there are loads of HOS for those who love them. I like balance and I felt this game had far too many. There are 4 tracks of music and I particularly liked the 2nd track but everytime you enter another area the music changes and, too, the music is redundant. The bonus game solves the mystery, which is a good thing! Good art, grainy in some areas and very clear and crisp in others, some repetitive scenes but nicely done. There are some HOS items that are right there in front of your eyes and others that are sketched in wood or walls and a few that were hard to find. I would still recommend this game because judging by others' reviews they really liked it, and I did, too, as it really wasn't all that bad to me, but not that great either. Go ahead buy it and try the CE version.
