This game didn't take me very long to complete. If I had played it when I was new to games, I would have enjoyed it because it's very easy and the story is simple to follow. There is a map which takes you to where you need to go, so you don't have much back and forth time wasting. I enjoyed the final scene, it was very well done. I didn't give this a 5 because it's way too easy. It's not a bad game at all, just not one to give me a challenge. I actually was kinda bored and couldn't wait to finish it because I wasn't interested in it. The music has a drone to it that adds to the sense of wanting to fall asleep. If you want a good first game, this one is for you. If you are an intermediate or expert, I don't think this will pose a challenge for you.
I recommend this game!

Maybe my bar for a five star game is too high, but the minute I saw the jerky, childish characters, the lack of voice overs and that stupid crocheted sock doll that made high-pitched chimpanzee-like noises I was dubious about the previous reviews. As I progressed to the murky, brownish-gray first scene and watched the claymation style movements of the characters, I was annoyed. However, I kept going to the first HOS, which was very easy, even though the graphics made me think I was viewing the objects through muddy water. But when I finished the first HOS and the hideously made clown/puppet....whatever it was...made itself known in a big way, I was done. The clown was so crudely depicted (stitched button eyes? really?) that I could not bear to have him/her as my companion throughout the story. I felt like I was watching the very first Mickey Mouse cartoon...that black and white creepy thing where the mouse awkwardly dances while whistling?? Anyhoo, when I buy a game, I expect it to be made better than something my brother can draw. Not so, this game. Wow, it's the worst I've ever seen. I quit and uninstalled as quickly as I could and will spend the rest of my day figuratively kicking myself for buying it based on other peoples' reviews (not that they weren't being honest.) Note to self; always play the demo first.....I learned the hard way.
I don't recommend this game.

I was looking forward to playing this game because of its high rating. Boy, was I disappointed. First of all, I know this is a dark drama, but come on, the graphics are so mud toned and murky that I felt hypnotized by their boredom. Secondly, there are a LOT of HOS which are also gray-brown, easy and you have to keep finding objects in the same scenes. Thirdly, there's the story...or I should say, lack of one. I found that I didn't care if I helped the little girl or not because the characters had little interaction with me. There was no map and the hint button said only "....look elsewhere..." The music sounded to me like a hive of bees and did nothing to get me into the mood of the story. I played 3/4 of the way through and got so bored, I just couldn't force myself to keep going. It's way too easy, droll and annoying.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is pretty much ho hum for me. The story line did not make me want to engage with the puzzles to keep moving, but I did just to get it over with. It's not a bad game, not a good game, just lukewarm entertainment.
Pros: You get to decide the ending
The puzzles are easy
Voice overs are adequate
Music is alright
Cons The story is dull, unoriginal
Character movement is jerky
Too much going backwards to use items
Nothing to challenge the mind
Kind of short
I think if you're new to this genre, you'll find this game interesting. However, if you're like me and have played a lot of games, this one will seem a little stale and familiar.
I don't recommend this game.

Wow! What a disappointment. I've played all of the previous Dark Parables games and loved them. This game was one of the worst games I've ever played. The cut scenes are so blurry, it's difficult to tell what's happening during the action. All of the HOS are junk piles and way too easy. A beginner player will have no problem knocking this game out in a couple of hours. The scenes that we get to explore are VERY cluttered, cramped and claustrophobic, not to mention, boring. I couldn't believe how childish the story line was and the monster was ridiculously stupid. I felt like I was babysitting my brother and reading him a story before bed time. If you're looking for an intelligent, challenging and engrossing puzzle, I don't recommend this game. Perhaps kids 10 yo and under would enjoy it, but other than that, it's not worth purchasing unless it's a daily deal for $2.99.
I don't recommend this game.

I like a game that keeps the puzzles doable so that the story line moves along at a fast clip. This game does that. I was able to complete the game without using hints, which is always more fun. I rarely found myself wondering what I should do next, but when I thought about it, the next step came quickly to my mind. I like that. The graphics could be cleaner and crisper to my eye, but the music is good and builds to add excitement to the story line. The two negatives that keep me from thinking this is a great game are; more going back and forth than I like and having to search for different object on the same HOS. These are minor issues when taking the whole game into consideration. If I could have given 4.5, I would have. It's really good, but not perfect. You'll have fun if you play it.
I recommend this game!

I really tried to like this game but in all honesty, I found it so boring that I just couldn't finish it. The music alone will lull you into a state of drowsiness and then the story line will put you to sleep. The graphics are dull, dull, dull. The voice overs were hilarious due to their poor quality, unless you like everything stated in a monotone. Only one puzzle posed a slight challenge to me, but by that point, I really didn't care enough about the game to work on it very long. There was a LOT of running backwards to either retrieve or use items, which I absolutely found annoying. I like a game that draws me into it's "life" and keeps me moving along because I just have to see what's around the next "corner." This is not one of those games. It felt like a job to me; a job I didn't bother to complete.
I don't recommend this game.

After reading the so-so ratings on the CE, I was afraid to buy this game, so I waited until I had earned a free one. I think this game rocks!!! I enjoyed it from start to finish, as I have all of the Redemption Cemetery series games. As a dog lover, I enjoyed having the dog as the central focus and working to release him. The train is amazing....gives you a spooky feel. The games were, at times, a little challenging but I didn't need a hint to get through this game although I played it in advanced mode. I loved the interactive map which saved having to go to and fro like so many other games. Also, having the use of the Raven during my journey made things very interesting. The story line followed a logical path which made it, with some creativity, relatively easy to keep from getting stuck. Some of the HOS are interactive which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have nothing negative to say about this game except I wish it would go on for days and days.
I recommend this game!
