A mysterious plague casts a dark shadow on the people of Persia. The young apothecary Tara must discover the cause of the illness before it's too late!
Graphics vary between good and very good. Sounds and music were nicely done. This story is interesting, but nothing new or innovative. Pick up amulet and glyphs appear on arm and provide powers. This is a glyph and healing potion focused game. The introduction is a story book detailing some backstory. There are a couple main hero characters trying to save the world again and one bad guy trying to take all the power. The heroes must connect three magical factors to fight against him.
Characters are rather cartoon-like and without much attention to detail but with a decent script. The girl genie (I’ve heard that voice before on a fairy with this developer) sounds like a child cartoon character.
One Hidden Object game was a story book theme which I consider lazy development but finally an old fashion one popped up with world lists and some interaction and was well crafted with attention to detail.
Same old over-used Mini games.
At each main stage, the player must complete a three part game, defend self by selecting a circle containing two glyphs that will not repeat any of the opponent’s glyphs, repeat a highlighted sequence, and then turn all the glyphs same color.
The little critters are very cute and adorable, the adult ones are very well crafted and lovely to look at, but the babies, even if ever so cute, looked like cartoon characters.
The scenes are nicely crafted and interesting. The script so far sounds pretty good compared to a lot of recent games I’ve trialed.
The multiple-step tasks are simple and require collecting and creating potions for healing.
I might just consider purchasing this game because it isn’t creepy, it’s relaxing, and the story seems to move forward instead of repeatedly go back and forth.
Lots of back and forth tasks. I purchase a game for a story that moves forward without using Mini Games to waste time and to fill in what can’t be achieved by an intelligent script and intriguing story line. I was bored within the first 10 minutes by the long commentaries and the abundance of Mini Games, but I finished it hoping it would improve. It failed. Huge disappointment! I will not purchase this game.
One after another Mini Game interrupted the flow and made the game boring: Several repeat Mini Games-once finished with round one up popped a second and sometimes a third. Shoot sandbags needs eye/hand coordination. Use 3 skills to fight off a bear, I skipped. Prepare a healing bracelet, after collecting all tokens shuffle and drag 3 sets to outer tracks. To cross a bridge, you must combine 2 symbols to create 1 complete symbol with a storybook background commentary between 2 rounds. Once inside the door, you face another 3 rounds of matching symbols. I probably missed listing some, but at this point, enough was enough.
Graphics 3: Varied. Not up to quality of many other games. Good to better in some scenes. Some scenes were less detailed than others and a bit foggy Music/Sound 2: Turned down music because of repetitive drums Characters 4: Well designed, attire fit the story, but not much variety, lots of Viking gear. Spend less time on gear and more on writing a decent story line that moves forward instead of back and forth Voice overs 3: Okay. Some sounded the same Hint 4: Couldn’t adjust game to custom to shorten it, but pretty fast return Hidden Object Games 2: Few and far between of what I consider a Hidden Object Game, find items, etc., the ONE was nicely crafted. The other...I really don’t consider picture book backstory a real Hidden Object Game, more a filler to waste time for lazy developers. The one in the Elder’s cave was poorly crafted, annoying, hard to see some objects, while others objects were difficult to find. HO fans will not enjoy this game Mini Games 2: Couldn’t adjust to custom to shorten, but short time to skip. They should make a new category called MINI GAMES instead of calling some a Hidden Object Game. Abundance of Mini Games, almost the entire trial was filled with so many of them that it spoiled what might have been a fair, but nothing new story. To be fair, the Mini games were nicely crafted, but used too often as a time filler.
Into the trial 37 minutes and it froze, so I just quit. I suggest you take advantage of the trial to make your own decision, but I'm not going to purchase this game.
I'll just pass on a few observations as others have covered the main points. I dislike a lot of back and forth in any game and this one has way too much of that. The story is rather predictable and nothing new. Tired of someone dying and must race around for what seems like ages to find the items, potions, etc., to save the person. I find that frustrating and annoying. The characters were okay but some seemed out of place for the time and locale and I felt like someone dropped the ball on that continuity. I wasn't sure if I was in a rural village, small town or large city based on some characters and locations. it just seemed disjointed. Some of the voice overs were over the top. Just didn't pull me into the story because it seemed all too familiar as well as the above factors.
Overall: Ended 40 minutes into trial. Poorly crafted monster. If monster is going to be one of the main characters attention to design and detail should be PRIMARY! Otherwise, the characters were well crafted with good voice overs. Game play is lots of back and forth which I really dislike. I prefer a forward game with continuity that pulls me into the game, not stops to return to a number of locations.
I suggest you take advantage of the trial to make your own decision, but I will not purchase this one based on number of mini games and too much time spent going back and forth.
Graphics 4.5: Nicely done. Positive note: It offers Gamma so you can adjust the brightness of the game. I love that option! Music/Sound 3: Turned down Characters 4: Nicely done except for monster Voice overs 4: Well done Hidden Object Games 4.5 Mini Games 3:Tried a few, but too much shuffling, moving around and finally just skipped. Not a fan. Story 3: Didn't intrigue me enough to purchase game
Graphics 4: Well done with attention to detail, good scenes and décor Sound/Music 3: Turned down Characters 3.5: Good design Voice Over 4: Not over the top, variety Hidden Object Games: Beautiful designs, variety, a few with dark corners, interactive Mini Games: Too many, shuffle, move one end to another, eye hand coordination and memorization. Not a fan, but mini fans will enjoy, and games are nicely crafted Morph/Collectibles: Yes
Overall: Many improbable inventory items and poor script. I lost interest after about 20 minutes, but finished to be fair.
Scrawny desk clerk gets all upset because lady looks at the guest book, but he doesn’t make her sign in. Room is prepared, the clerk tells her. Paper is peeling off the wall and there’s a hole in her pillow, I would rather sleep in my car. In town, creepy mailman warns her off. At the library, there’s a razor blade stuck in the door. Really! And, the door is locked. Why? She meets a lady doctor walking by who shares that she is busy during the day but available in the evening. So why isn’t the doctor in her office? Then she discovers a stapler in a fountain? Lady finally gets the librarian’s attention and he is so thrilled that someone wants to read a book. So why was the door locked? As soon as he lets her in, he suddenly has an important task and leaves her alone in what looks like someone’s junk room instead of a library. The tasks continue back and forth with the same lack luster, with implausible tasks, and with predictable outcome…lady needs to find her man and save him.
The story is old and seems too familiar. Fans of Rite of Passage will probably want to add this to their collection, mini fans will enjoy the games, but I am looking for something that intrigues me to continue beyond a mini game focus with an innovative and intriguing story with strong characterizations. This is not that game. But to be fair, I suggest you give it a trial test to see if you enjoy it.
Maybe in the future, someone will write an interesting script that moves forward with continuity, with plausible tasks that make sense, with items not just tossed in for the sake of need/use, and develop a clever story that utilizes continuity, clarity, and distribution and use of inventory items that make the story interesting.
First, developers need to learn that introductions either intrigue a player or turn them off...this one was a turn off. Graphics vary but mostly okay, some rather gritty appearing. Characters are poorly crafted for the most part and are cartoonish, young girl appears like someone just stuck an adult head on her. Some good elements in design, but as far as tasks and decor was sort of all over the place. Spooky stuff should be focus here, but almost laughable. Again amulets, runes, all too familiar. Hidden object game graphics were from gritty to good, interactive and okay. Mini games, I usually just skip them. Question? Mechanical jack to replace wheel on horse drawn cart? As I've said before hire competent editors and intelligent script writers; they would take games to a whole new level. Not going to purchase this one, might be worth it for some as a free game. I suggest give it a trial run to see what you think. Graphics: 3 Music Sound just turn down anyway Characters 2 Voice Overs 3 HO 3 Mini ? skipped Story 2.5 Tasks 3
Overall I thought this was a good start to a potential continuing series. Ending had closure. Story flowed forward with some back and forth to recover objects and this could be resolved somewhat if Chapter 2 is in the works, good locations, lots of tasks, some more intricate than others. I liked this game except for the mini games, not a fan, because they were time consuming with lots of shuffling, connecting, mazes styles and once finished with one some had two more parts, one was enough! However, the ones that required completion of an object, task or flask were well crafted. Hidden object games were well-crafted with beautiful designs, different approach to some that were interesting, but a few items were difficult to discern, but “hidden” is what it is all about. I played the trial and thought some of the reviews were pretty harsh, so purchased the SE to find out for myself. I enjoyed the game, the characters and the story and I will purchase the next one if they move forward with Chapter 2.
Graphics 5+: Excellent with attention to detail Décor and Design 5+: Beautifully crafted and designed Character Development/Design 5+: Very well designed and attired with good voice overs Story 4: A different approach, some different concept art and good effects Hidden Objects 4: Some items were small and difficult to find, but kudos on graphics, design and well-hidden but visible objects Mini Game 3: To be fair, not a fan of mini games. Too many in this game, shuffling, mazes, connections, just found many annoying, sometimes confusing and more time consuming than fun, will use the custom and skip them on replay! Hand eye coordination required in a few and some continued to 3 parts, repetitive, but have to say the design and development was well-done and attention to detail was excellent
Some continuity areas 2: Cigarette in ashtray on bar, only bartender was there and had a cigarette in his mouth? Maybe customer got stuck in the rest room? Left computer on so bad guys could find information. Shame! Hid in back of truck but had to break a lock to open it? Maybe I missed another truck but was only large one there?
Not a full screen which I found annoying. Letter at start was hard to read because of script and it was long. Beginning dialogue was long and drawn out but I still wanted to give it a try. Typed dialogue was in addition to voice. When it went back to the dark ages with follow the arrows, I decided it was not a game I wanted to pursue any further. i think I played it about 10 minutes. Just felt like an old style game with improved character animation and okay graphics. Like me, i suggest you take a trial run to see if you enjoy this style.
After taking a trial run, I purchased this game and was thrilled at the excellence of concept art, graphic design and attention to detail. This game has something for everyone!
Characters are well designed and voice overs are nicely done. The story moves forward with interesting scenes and a variety of fun tasks.
Hidden Object games are exquisite in design and offered great variety, also no hidden or dark corners, but they did a great job of hiding a few items to make discovery a bit more challenging...right in front of your nose!
Mini games, not a fan, gave me reason to try them and even enjoyed some, a few are a bit on the difficult side and will make mini fans happy, found them worth the time and effort because they are very well designed and crafted.
Because the story moves forward so nicely it was great to anticipate the next adventure which peaked curiosity and anticipation. No yawns in this one! The ending was well produced and NOT another one of those games with an abrupt ending that left me disappointed or scratching my head. This ending was a BIG plus for me! The bonus game was just as well done and also had closure.
I plan to replay this game because I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and I missed some collectibles and morphing objects! Probably because I was more interested in the advancing story line, see what comes next, than finding either.
Also this is NOT a short game! Alert: Morphing items can appear in the Hidden Object Games as well!
After playing the trial, I purchased the game, obviously by mistake...must have mixed it up with another! After purchase, it would not let me restart from the beginning. I spent 30 minutes trying to find a rope to save a drowning druid. After searching 3 locations managed to find an implement to cut down the rope, but the rope wasn't all that was needed, on each step the hints returned me to places where NONE of the inventory items worked...an item in a tree log, no ammo for the catapult, a crystal missing (no crystal so far) a missing armor piece which will probably open the door. Most frustrating game I've played in ages and truly sorry I purchased it. Hints are horrible and just continue to return you to the same places that nothing works to complete. Maybe its me, but I've played enough games to figure out how to find things, even scrolling over every locations didn't seem to reveal the needed items. Waste of my time and effort and definitely not fun! Developer needs to return to this game and go through it again with a fine tooth comb or a sledge hammer.
