Available at BFG since 2014. Does have a jump map. More HOPS to play than your average game today. I think there were at least 15. The HOPS were extremely enjoyable. There was something in the tempo and atmosphere of the game that really appealed to me. It's a slow pace. A game that I would have missed if it wasn't on special offer. Review based on completed game.
Medieval type settings! Get past the initial 20 minute introduction to get to the really lovely buildings, furniture, alcoves, and all sorts of patterns and décor of that era. I really loved the HOPS. There were about 8 or so and all were gorgeous to play. I silenced the voiceovers, so I can't say much about them. Romeo reminded me of Orlando Bloom, and Juliet was perfect- determined and strong, but delicate and lovely. Determination not to be separated, they have to overcome adversity - other than that, nothing to do with the original story.
Really enjoyed playing this game. When you've had enough of colorful bling and want some great graphics, with lots of detail, spooky lighting, and lots of realistic-looking items included,- then here's your answer. It's definitely a serious game, with scares here and there. The HOPS were interesting to look at, and the puzzles varied. There's lot's of rooms to explore and the story line and characters were very well done all the way through to the end. The puzzles are interesting.
I liked this game much more than the last couple in the Haunted Hotel series! The graphics are DETAILED with lots of realistic looking items thrown in. The moody ambience with grays and neutrals, howling winds and other great environmental sounds, is just up my alley. The game has a consistent tempo all the way through to the end. Character interaction is minimal, but good when it occurs. Fun puzzles and HOPS. I enjoyed it all and in fact it was just what I needed. I liked the theme. The music was also great, and I listened to 75% of it. *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************SPOILER ALERT REGARDING THEME - SEE BELOW **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** The ghost theme this time is of a ghost looking for someone he loved, but going mad in the process and creating mayhem. No kids are involved. It's all grown-ups.
*Choose a shape, click on it, and move it to combine with another shape. *One square of the grid is made up of 3x3 mini-squares. *All 9 mini-squares of the 3x3 must be filled. . *No parts must overlay eachother, and no parts can be missing. *Two of the same color = more points. * There is a time limit.
You get an option at one point to add more complicated shapes if you want to. There's a box you have to check for this to occur - it's a choice that's offered to you. This is very good, because eventually you do get used to the shapes that fit together. Having the option takes the challenge to a much higher level, and keeps the game interesting.
You get to choose various power-ups as you go along, and if you use them effectively, you get more points. Some of them include: 1. build a wall to the other side, 2. get an egg to the bottom, 3. prevent lava from reaching the bottom, and also 4. take a chance and decide whether to bet 1/4, 1/2 or ALL of your points on 1 or 3 mini-games.
After reading the incredible reviews, I just had to give this game a twirl...Hmm. Nothing special, average characters, wooden and predictable, colorful but dull graphics.
OPTIONS FOR PLAY INCLUDE: ************************************************************** 1) "HINTS": You should know, that although you can have HINTS on or off, having them on will ONLY give you written hints and not moves using arrow indicators. An example would be ("create a combo to move this key.").
GREAT GRAPHICS during the match-3 phases. The graphics are sparkly and shimmery...! Rockets flying hither and thither as you combine 5 elements (to remove unreachable coins). Matching 4 gives you dynamite. Matching 5 gives you a rocket.
This game uses the normal SWITCHING format to create your combos. In addition, "match-5s" can be created, not just vertically and horizontally, but also at 90 degrees ! (2 vertical, 2 horizontal, and then move a corner into place.)
All the stuff is here, like break through brick walls, move your key to the lock by eliminating units, direct fire to melt ice, and more. Note, you can only use the dynamite on walls etc if they are at 90 degrees adjacent (and not diagonally).
Lots of pop, whizz and wow!
The other parts of the game, like find the differences have lower standard graphics, and you can skip them if you want.
Artsy and stunning environments! This horror game is cut above the rest in that there's so much detail in every single scene. Just take a look at the sample scenes posted! It really is that good. The story is very well thought out because you just get deeper and deeper into the mystery. I felt that there were no cheap tricks used, or short-cuts to get the horror vibe. Yes, and it is horror. Very creepy and ghostly. Wow, just recently the graphics have really turned up a few notches...across the board!
I agree, that a game on this scale of creepy hasn't been done THIS GOOD in a long while!! The graphics are clear and super detailed with enormous amounts of attention paid to the environment. EACH scene of the dark and disheveled house and its yard is top-notch. Dark and light are balanced well, for the abandoned, creaking house to really come to life! Along with all of that and the superb sound effects, I really couldn't fault this game. Character interaction is minimal, but the telling of THEIR life stories and interactions are paramount to the unfolding of the story.
The nice thing is, it never made me cringe (they never show too much), however that could just be down to personal limits - but it's definitely not a lightweight story, and certainly not for kids-.
The story goes this way and that way, and just when you think you've got it all figured out, you realize you haven't!
Beautiful to look at HOPS and lots of fun puzzles too!
ORNATE and detailed on the indoors, with gardens and mountains on the outside - very beautiful and atmospheric. I just lapped up all the scenes in this gorgeous looking game. For me, this is the best of the Sprit of Revenge games. The HOPS are full of lots of antiques and old bits n' bobs, with everything both lit and shaded, creating that still-life scene ambience. The music is great, the sound effects spot-on, and the character interaction is minimal, but absolutely nothing wrong there. Gentle-paced game.
