This is a fun game to play in the 1st half, but gets more challenging and hard to follow in the middle and end. The graphics are just so-so, parts are good, but characters look like cartoons. voiceovers are OK, but very little animation and jazzy special effects.
One nice thing is helpful messages are present even in expert mode, as are Hint and skip. The mini games start easy, but a few are challenging (blog WT helpful here).
Game kind of lost me as the actions to progress become obscure and Huh? Had the actions been more intuitive, would have enjoyed the game more.
Taking pictures and developing the photos is not as annoying as one review notes. The camera (lower right) glows red, indicating, Take picture now. Then the light bulb glows, so you click icon and immediately transported to dark room where it flashes step by step what needs to be done. Then you click the return arrow icon (lower right) and you're transported back to where you were before--just a little detour from the sleuthing. No big deal.
Storyline is OK--not the greatest, but not the worst.
I recommend trying the demo before buying. The demo sold me on the game, but the latter half of game was frustrating for me, perhaps because I played on hardest mode. If you play casual, everything will be easy peasy, and maybe more enjoyable?
I recommend this game!

The artwork for this game is beautiful and a joy to wander through the scenes and marvel at the elaborately carved furniture, kingly beds, gothic stone walls. The characters are well drawn and fairytale attractive.
The HOS are challenging--had to use the Hint several times, which is a rarity for me.
Mini games are not hard, but not super easy.
The storyline is easy to follow and the HOS are utilized to explain the backstory and instead of list of objects, the objects to find are part of the narration and many times the objects are symbols of concepts.
There is magic amulet (bottom left) which finds evil blooms, and that comes into play in several scenes. When it glows is when you use it.
The ending is TRICKY! If you answer wrong, you have to play all over again, so choose carefully.
Loved this fairytale HO game, especially the artwork. This is a game I would enjoy playing again, just because the artwork is so nice.
I recommend this game!

This was an unexpected surprise of a nice game. The HO games are standard variety with at least 2 items that have interaction with another object in the scene to find or complete the object. Most mini games are not that hard, ahem, frustrating. The storyline is decent, with a little bit of a surprise at the end.
The one unique aspect of the game is the ghost catcher (bottom left), which is a magnifier to locate the floating ghosts. Each scene has one ghost. Spot 'em with your mag eye and zap them. But at the end, you have to go through all scenes encountered and look for them again. You didn't miss them, it's a ploy to make you wind your way through all scenes again. On the other hand, it acts like a collectible of sorts for an SE game.
For the most part, it's a straightforward game with most actions easy to intuit, except for the last few chapters in which I had to use Hint because it was not clear what needed to be done.
The pretty lady on the game cover unfortunately only makes a brief cameo, would have liked to see more of her. The characters are nicely drawn and well dressed, but the lip movement definitely do not sync well with the voiceover. No matter, you can turn off the sound and just read the dialogue.
A nice HO game for those who enjoy sleuthing. Give it a try.
I recommend this game!

Warning--blood spatter and bloody victims are commonly encountered. Fortunately, music is not too creepy, or would be really scary.
If you can get past the above, this is a good sleuthing adventure game. Not too many mini games or HO junk piles, but a lot of LOCKS to unlock and find keys. A lot of going back and forth among various scenes and items encountered before, but useful later.
There's a good game flow because most actions are logical and easy to intuit. Graphics are good, but definitely heavy on beige, brown and some grays. Bloody voodoo dolls abound.
Has several good twists to the plot and red herrings to throw you off the track as to the true Axiom Butcher. Plot is easy to follow and makes you WANT to know who the killer is.
This game seems oriented toward male players, as it is more violent than usual BF games, but it's no where near as violent as stuff out there today. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

The best part of this game is the length of the game. The artwork is not very good. The voiceovers and dialogue are extremely trite and not believable. The mini games are not too hard, but I did give up on a couple because the instructions were terrible. Most actions are easy to figure out, but I did have to use Hint a few times to figure out what to do next.
Had the artwork been better, this game would have gotten 4 stars from me. Being a visual medium, artwork is very important to me. You can turn off annoying music, but you've got to look at the screen to play the game.
If length of game is important to you, this game fits the bill.
I recommend this game!

I loved the SE version that I HAD to have the CE, but regrettably, the CE is not as good. The SE had a blitz of HOS before the finale that made the game of great value.
The CE has the usual Bonus game, which is 2/3 length of SE game, but no extra puzzles, no achievement room, no extra collectibles. You get the usual wallpaper, music, movie clips in the 2 games. The actions to take in the Bonus chapter are ambiguous--had to use the Hint quite a bit. Only 2 new places to explore.
I think most of the inspiration was in the SE, and when it came to the CE, they ran out of ideas and steam.
I don't recommend this game.

Not a great story, but good game play. Mini games are mostly reasonable. Most actions are intuitive, but I had to use the hint more than I would have liked. The objects are well done, but the characters are not well drawn and look unnatural. There is a happy ending, but it is abrupt.
I recommend this game!

It's not the greatest game I've played, but not the worst either. Good for a punch. It's a decently long game with more actions than HOS. 30% of actions are not intuitive or logical, and consulting the map presents some very pale colored icons that practically blend into the background, ie hard to make out, and also does not really provide good info for what actually needs to be done to progress. The mini games are not too hard, but also forgettable. Storyline is a bit far fetched. This is one of the few games aimed at cat lovers, especially snow leopards.
Try the demo before buying.
I recommend this game!

I liked everything about this game, except the graphics were just so-so and not breathtaking. The mini games are not hard at all, but 99% of actions are intuitive, logical, or easy to figure out. It may be too easy for more experienced Fishies, but a good way to relax playing it. The ending is very abrupt, but perhaps the CE would remedy that. Even so, it's a fairly long game that goes by fast. Enjoy.
I recommend this game!

This is a very long game to play. The mini games range from easy to tedious to solve. It would be a hard game to play without helpful messages, hints and skip features. 30% actions are not intuitive and just strange.
The story line is completely forgettable and the standard you-are-in-a-race-to-stop-the-bad-guy-from-releasing-a-magical-power-that-will-unleash-evil-in-the-world-as-we-know-it. The voice for the Spirit Wolf doesn't jibe with the image of the wolf--a wimpy, clownish voice for the wolf who represents the GOOD. Other than that discordance, the VOs and visuals for the characters and scenery are fantastic.
Other special features of the game include the use of a binocular (lower right) to see items far off-->move the X-Y arrows until they turn green so the objects comes into sharp view. There's also a magic amulet (lower left, eagle icon) that glows when you come across hieroglyphics that unlock an object. You have to find stones in the scenes that belong to the amulet and then click on the symbols matching those hieroglyphics when they are found on the amulet to release the item. Did I tell you this was a very involved game?
Nevertheless, if you want the most for your money or are a fan of Native American culture, this game provides many hours of challenging gameplay and beautiful NA graphics.
The map function is not that helpful on intermediate mode.
This is a game you might want to try before buying.
PS--this review is for the SE version.
I recommend this game!
