A fun game to play, with a good mystery to unravel and easy to follow. Most actions are intuitive, but powers of observation are needed in some scenes, as the object to progress is small or blends well into environs. Most mini games are easy, usually fundamental, but sometimes takes quite a bit of time to solve. Has an unexpected twist to the culprits, but the ending is truncated in SE version, perhaps a set up for the bonus chapter in the CE version.
If you play in advanced mode, which allows map to show objectives--beware, it OUTLINES the area of interest in different colors instead of having ? or ! icons overlying the area. I found that confusing because most games use the icons. Also some interactions require a certain sequence before the object will interact. For example, you have to turn the faucet on 1st to get running water and THEN hover the cup under the water to get cup of water. If you hover the cup to faucet, you get an error signal. For some of the HOS, the cursor has to be exactly pinpointed on the object or it acts like you didn't find the object.
I recommend this game!

Nothing special about this game, and average graphics (cartoon-like, not crisp sharp details) ruins it for me. The storyline is decent, good length of play, not too hard mini games should make for a good game, but the graphics make it so uninteresting to lose yourself. But all must judge for themselves.
I recommend this game!

This is one of the older HO games, but still good.
The storyline is forgettable. Actress you are trying to rescue is really pretty, but she only appears a handful of times. Mini games are easy to challenging (time consuming to solve but easy to intuit). I did give up on one game completely.
HOS nothing special--no morphing objects, some interactions, but not spectacular, most are easy.
This is a good sleuthing game, well worth a try.
I recommend this game!

Mystery Tales is one of the better series out there. This is quite a long game, with excellent visuals and special effects. The HOS are quite creative, with many interactions. One outstanding example is unscrambling letter blocks to spell a word, then find these objects in the scene, find a new letter block and unscramble another word, find the objects it spells, until you have the object for your next action. Another HOS involves finding objects with billowy smoke outlines.
You have a magic box of magical items on the lower right corner that is periodically used in the scene to overcome obstacles. On the lower left corner is a crystal ball that requires 3 crystals, which must be found in the scenes around you. Once the ball is charged, it transports you to an alternate view of the current scene. You go back and forth between these worlds to free four people put under the spell of the witch to ultimately save your daughter.
Most mini games are easy, except for 2-3. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable game, fun to play, and exercise your sleuthing ability.
I recommend this game!

This is probably the most violent game I've played in this genre. There is a murderer at large in the ward. There is blood and violence with game, but not an old school Direct X game format.
The story has many red herrings and surprising twists. It is the best part of this game. Visuals are fair. HOS and mini puzzles are good--just right amount of challenge.
If you don't mind some blood and violence, this is a good detective story that will keep you engaged to the very end.
I recommend this game!

This is a super long game, and quite arduous to complete. There is no teleport map and a lot of going back and forth among 5 doors to 5 souls and their realms to save from the witch. You need a good memory to remember all the little stuff you encounter in each door way, and stuff found in one door is used for something in another door encountered way, way, later or way, way, back.
Usually I complete an HO game in 1-2 evenings after work. For this game, took me 3-4 nights. Some of the hidden objects are hard to spot because they are very small or well blended into background.
The visuals are good, but follows a Jeckyll & Hyde theme--either grotesque and gruesome or beautiful & elegant.
There are no fancy, smancy morphing objects in HOS, but there are a legion of tasks to complete. The mini games are devilishly tricky.
This game is good for Fishies who like a challenge. The ending is a bit abrupt for all the build-up to the end, but it may be a segue to the bonus chapter.
I recommend this game!

The overall plot is good, but quite complicated and much more involved than The Vengeance. The visuals are excellent with movie-like animation. I didn't much care for the Goth looking grandfather and his s-u-p-e-r s-l-o-w way of speaking. The mini games and HOS are more difficult than The Vengeance. I had to skip several mini games and used the Hint button more than usual.
Overall, a very well developed and thought out game, but did not like the abrupt ending--maybe this is deliberate as an incentive to buy the CE version. This is quite a long game if you attempt to complete all mini puzzles.
I look forward to another Anna Gray adventure in the future.
I recommend this game!

This is the 3rd Dead Reckoning game I have played--this is one is pretty good. I didn't like the other two very much.
The plot is well developed, with a surprise answer to who shot Johnny Abili. Most tasks are logical to intuit. I only had to hit the Hint button a few times. There seems to be more mini games than HOS. The game is long, with a lot to accomplish before the killer is discovered. The ending is not very exciting, but the surprise killer makes up for unexciting ending.
This is a good game if you want to play a gumshoe.
I recommend this game!

A great mystery adventure, better than a Nancy Drew mystery book. Lots to do and see.
You play a woman who received an eye transplant, and after the surgery, the ghost of a murdered young girl appears to you and guides you to Austria to investigate her murder. After the surgery, when you encounter a scene that glows or has a mist, you pop on your magic glasses (lower right) to "see" in "her eyes" the message the ghost is trying to communicate about her murder.
The visuals, voiceovers, and plot are excellent. A few of the HOS make you find all morphing objects in order to open the list of objects to find. Some items in the HOS require more than one action to complete.
The mini games range from easy to challenging. I skipped 4, mainly from lack of persistence rather than difficulty.
This is a long game, and most actions to accomplish are logical or easy to intuit. The map teleports and makes it easy to figure out where an action is available. The helpful messages are great. You can switch to Match 3 if you get stuck in an HOS.
Loved this game and wholeheartedly recommend to all.
