I don't really like newer games but I do like Dark City's Victorian/Steampunk genre. Smooth, straight forward, no nonsense game play combined with a fantastic story line, voice over and music. The many cut scenes can add to the atmosphere but sometimes interrupt and stilt it. I'd have given it five stars if there had been more hidden object scenes without all the frills and fuss. There just weren't enough HOS to keep HOS fans happy. It's more like an adventure game. I did like the bonus game and the moral decision you have to make at the end.
I recommend this game!

The World's Legends: Kashchey the Immortal
The beautiful Tsaritsa has been kidnapped! Help the young Tsarevich save his dear mother from an evil sorcerer!
This has lots of hidden object scenes with light puzzles in the game play. There are unlimited hints and a skip button on the mini games. It's gentle and relaxing but also lacked a certain something. Maybe it wasn't as atmospheric as I would have liked. Many of the characters you meet along the way are animals, so if you are an animal lover you might like this.
All roads lead to Rome! With thousands of years of art, history, and culture on display, it's the perfect destination for your next Big City Adventure.
This has 60 levels with 10 different mini games and 60 hidden sheilds to find. This was the easiest of the Big City Adventures to play, in my opinion, with clear, well rendered graphics that made finding objects a pleasure, rather than a pain. It wasn't too easy however, I found the mini games more difficult than the HOS in this one, sometimes it can be the other way around. I loved all the scenes, they were fun and interesting. All in all, a great game.
This game has 60 levels, 10 different mini games/puzzles and 60 secret jade dragons to find in every hidden object scene, Like all Big City Adventure games there are limited hint and bonus coins to find in every HOS and limited skip coins in the puzzles. This one, like most of them, has a blue zoom in area in all HOS, where a couple of objects can be found. I loved this game! It has clear, clean and detailed graphics, nice music, very interesting scenes and facts. This is definately one of my favourites of the series.

Big City Adventure: Istanbul
Visit the ancient and powerful city of Istanbul, ever-steeped in history, in the latest chapter of the hit classic hidden object series.
This has 60 levels,10 different mini games and 60 secret camels to find in each HOS. Also, there are different hint and bonus coins to find in each scene. I liked this and found it atmospheric. I liked the music and sound effects and it was relaxing. The objects were a little difficult to find at times. I didn't get all my camels but it didn't affect my game experience too much. I loved all the interesting and historical facts about Istanbul.

Big City Adventure: Rio de Janeiro
Samba your way to the tropical paradise of Rio de Janiero! Search for thousands of cleverly hidden items and play fun mini-games along the way.
It has 60 levels and 10 different mini games and a blue zoom-in area in each scene. There are 20 sandcastle postcards to find and they are all in the object lists, so you can't miss them. These are used at the end of the game in a surprise puzzle. I think I enjoyed the mini games more than the actual HOS in this one, which was unusual, as it's always the other way around. Objects were quite difficult to find and I had to retry some scenes four or five times over. Also, I didn't find the scenes as interesting as in other games. The fun facts were still as good though. All in all, it was okay, just not as enjoyable as some of the others.
I recommend this game!

Big City Adventure: Tokyo
Search for thousands of cleverly hidden items around the historic sites of Tokyo. Play a bunch of fun mini-games too.
This game has 60 levels and 10 different mini puzzles that occur throughout the game. There are five skip coins in puzzles and various different hint coins in each HOS, as well as a blue zoom in area. There are 20 gears to find in the HOS but they are all in the object list, so you can't miss them. Until I got to the end, I was wondering, what is the point of these gears? But you find that out in the end as they give you a little surprise! This is definately one of my favourites of the Big City Adventure series. The hidden object scenes are really interesting and quirky. I find it one of the most relaxing of the series, without being boring at all. It gives you that feeling that you're really there, in Tokyo. You can almost smell the sushi.
This game borrows heavily from Dark City London, so it was like watching/playing a repeat at times. I know it's part of a series but I think it's a bit lazy to just cut and paste bits of Dark City London into this, which was the impression I got. Also, the game play is purposely elaborate and full of stops and starts, halting play. It slows down, it speeds up. To be fair, I know that's part of the stye of this series and puts me in mind of Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes character. There are simply not enough HOS for a HOS lover. Can't fault atmosphere, sound and vision and especially the storyline, which helps make up for the frills, ribbons, repeats and subsequent tedium.
I don't recommend this game.

Big City Adventure: Paris
Romantic Paris awaits you on your next Big City Adventure!
There are 60 levels in this game and a blue zoom in area in each HOS where you will have to find a couple of the listed hidden objects. There are 10 different puzzles/mini games. Use your skips on the puzzles frugally, if you're not much of a puzzle person, as they do get more difficult as you go along. You only ever get a maximum of 5 skips on puzzles, but you can use them now and again as you will keep getting awarded skip coins, but only ever up to a maximum of 5. I liked all the historical facts about the French Revolution. Quite gruesome really! Very good game.

Big City Adventure: Barcelona
Nestled between the mountains and sun-soaked beaches, the vibrant and stylish city of Barcelona awaits you on your next Big City Adventure.
This game has 60 levels,10 different mini puzzles and also a zoom in area on all HOS. Lovely graphics and design. There's something quite classy about this game. It was a pleasure to play. I really liked finding the hidden guitar in every scene. It's little things like that, that make it exciting! Well, maybe not exciting but it keeps a certain motivation going. Also, there are achievements to earn in this one, which is a nice added feature. The objects are neither too difficult or too easy to find, creating a perfect balance throughout.
