A very nice series but I've become bored with it. The graphics are always beautiful, nice bright colors, I enjoy the trivia. And there are no vacationing animal families!! I own more than enough travel HOGs so this isn't a must or even a might buy.
The game has good features, scenes are full of all sorts of things. There are various list styles. Most objects are well hidden but some are right out in the open. The mini games are enjoyable but I prefer more challenge, I liked the variety. There is Relaxed Mode only, no Magnifier which was a problem for my less than perfect vision. If you are a HOG series collector this is a good one to have.
Big Fish, review page is still broken since your new format was installed first week of August. It's way past time to FIX IT! Today this review took 3 attempts, the third one was caused by it being deleted when someone else's was posted. Please stop the delay and repair the damaged page!
If you're a fan and love having the game finished for you, here's a "new" game for your collection. Everything is exactly the same as in the other 8 Floor solitaires, except the title and card art.
The graphics are dark, unappealing. The card art as well. The Gold Cards are a constant irritant. Level 2 left me with 10 cards on the table. What fun is that? Replays are of no use. If you are a serious player and your goal is to clear the table, find another solitaire game. This one never lets you do it yourself. There's never really a story, only the suggestion of one.
These 8 Floor games are well liked by many, I'm sure, and for them they are always fun regardless of the Gold Cards and never any changes. But for those always waiting for a quality solitaire that challenges and entertains and has appealing graphics, it's disappointing when this dev appears! We all have different tastes.
I was glad to see only 2 pics of food this time. Not so glad to see very few images with full backgrounds, that being my only complaint. This is the finest paint game we have at BFG and I really love it. The quality is far beyond the others.
The variety of subject matter has something to please everyone. Images are unique and full of crazy patterns and shapes, designs that add interest and detail. The colors are devine and all the variations create great detail and shading. The pics vividly come to life and the end result is gorgeous! Animals and people are my favorites. I really love the vintage ones but they are rare.
It's easy to fly through these collections, especially with most images lacking entire backgrounds. Small means too easy to complete even with all the tiny areas to fill in. But I'm learning to pace myself and also take advantage of the Freeplay option more often. That really slows me down because I have to stop and think about the colors I'll use and where I want to create shading. It's so much fun and takes a lot of time. I can change the colors as often as necessary to get the pic exactly how I want it.
No age requirements or special skills required. Just jump in and paint to your heart's content, get creative with Freeplay. Enjoy! It's a nice relief from the busy HOPAs I play every day.
After playing the demo for both versions I'm still not inspired to buy the game. I was expecting more but it will likely please many others because it's a "holiday" game.
The game has lots of unique features and great assortment of bonuses. You won't be disappointed with all the explosions and good challenge in either Casual or Expert Mode. I tried both but favored Casual for the sake of time in the demo. There are mini games for extra fun and a clean-up project rather than a rebuild.
The goal of earning 3 spiders was beyond my reach no matter what I did or how many times I replayed. It was a fail in bother modes. Replays were a pain because they required returning to the main screen and reading all the text again as well. Very discouraging and frustrating! The boards were dark, tiles not very colorful.
Then, there's the very unappealing Halloween project of cleaning up the yard of an old run-down house. The items needed were very expensive, some levels didn't have an upgrade, the graphics were too dark and made everything difficult to see clearly. The few repairs I made were almost invisible and actually partially hidden at bottom of screen. The project wasn't fun at all and was a slow process because of the costly items. I managed to acquire one decoration for the terrace.
So for me, it was a boring game despite the M3 activity and games. It was visually unappealing and the unreachable goal made it simply not much fun. Hopefully you'll find it more entertaining than I did.
I, too, love this developer and the splendid HO games they create. Sure, they are each basically the same but the theme changes and being an animal and nature lover, the games are very appealing to me. I always purchase without regrets.
The graphics are amazing, bright natural colors. The scenes are overflowing with beautiful images, all real, no cartoonish stuff. I love the detail and density which make finding the objects more challenging, but not overly so. Everything is very well hidden. The zoom feature and magnifier are a blessing for my imperfect vision. The game has so many features and options to make it an absolutely fun experience.
No frustrating timers, no weird sound effects, no dialogue to read, no cartoonish animal families. Just an abundance of fun, flowers galore, beautiful scenes, mini games, lots of morphs and other extras. They all make it a CE worth the extra $$, a guilt-free goodie for me! Plus it's CE BOGO day!
Pennmom made a good point about the message conveyed when favorite features are removed. It also damages the quality and level of fun we expect to find with our reliable devs. I rated the CE with 2 stars due to this and because it was more about spirits hanging out in mirrors and less about Halloween. The story, imo, was flimsy and somewhat hard to follow.
It was a quiet game but I think it had a very demonic feel to it. I did not care for the creepy spirits! I enjoyed the HOPs and puzzles however they were pretty easy, nothing special. Little materialized to indicate anything of what I expected, based upon the synopsis and 5-star reviews so I was disappointed. The tasks weren't too bad, graphics were very good but a little dark, scenes were sparse of Halloween sights, lots of back and forth.
Others believe it was a great game and found it spooky and challenging with a good story. I didn't find that at all but that doesn't mean it is a bad game. It just wasn't my idea of fun Halloween entertainment. The SE is probably the better choice since the CE has minimal extra content.
The graphics were sharp, richly colored. Scenes mostly dark, lots of tasks scattered about but fewer of the really tedious ones. I met a few characters, all looked great, nicely costumed. The female centaur was brightly adorned. But the game didn't feel new to me, old with new characters.
Glissandro sounded like he was script reading, listening was annoying. And the royal guard's voice was simply awful, horrible voice-acting! Laughable, indeed!! V/Os are very important to a game, imo. It amazes that devs are so accepting of the low grade voice acting in their games!
The demo HOPs were challenging. The very interactive ones were lengthy. The objects being very small, they were often hard to recognize. Plus it was hard to figure out how they were to be used. Color wasn't great, either. I did really enjoy the few puzzles which can be played in Easy or Hard Mode.
I liked the premise of the story saving the forest and magical creatures. I always am displeased with the demo not showing more of the adventure. The tasks take up too much time. I learned the hard way that a Domini game is no longer a fun, quality experience. Always the same format, disappointing CE content. Nothing new or exciting. I remain reluctant to buy even if there was a good sale.
This game will appeal to many who love the forest/creatures fantasies. They usually offer great visuals and animals we want to save. Hope it has lots to delight your interest in this type of story.
I was hoping this game would be on par with The Adventures of Perseus. The boards are similar to that game, the match 3 process as well. The graphics aren't great, drab colors, items for building Athens are small, no choices of where to place them.
I like the story and the goal we have to reach and always enjoy this type of Match 3 game. I was having fun, enjoyed clearing the path for the characters on the boards. Then the first mini game arrived and stopped me cold. After many attempts to complete it I finally gave up and abandoned the demo, since I could not continue. The hint did not help and unless I was blinded from frustration, I saw no skip button.
The game is like The Adventures of Perseus and Cradle of Rome, so I know it should be fun and challenging. I've decided to check out other reviews at this point, because of the mini game. I felt so defeated! Hopefully, it will prove to be a great game and I can take advantage of today's sale!
There's nothing new here to celebrate. I keep checking every demo but always find everything exactly the same. There's never a story, never a mystery! So why pretend, devs?! I'm sure you have fans that love these games and that's wonderful. But don't you want to add new fans and increase your rating?
I usually like the artwork on the cards. The graphics most of the time are pretty good. However, that's not enough on the plus side! None of the features make it fun nor do they add any particular interest or challenge. Just doing away with the Gold Cards would be a big improvement. Avid solitaire lovers want the ability and challenge of removing ALL the cards, all by themselves. Maybe some day the light bulb will turn on and the devs will create a solitaire game that will be a happy surprise for a change!
The review page has been broken since Aug 12th. Big Fish, why haven't you fixed it yet????? I had to rewrite this review 3 times, thank you very much!! Not fun!!!
If looking for a fun HOPA this game may sorely disappoint you. If you love HOGs it will be right up your alley! The synopsis is misleading and there are not 100 doors. Each chapter is a different theme, 10 in total. An extra 4 in the CE version.
The game features nothing you expect to find in a HOPA, the format never changes from room to room. You are basically just playing HOPs and games. That's it. No adventure whatsoever, there really isn't a story to follow. Lots and lots of HOs and puzzles.
Hidden object games are great, I love them. BUT advertise it for what it really is. Why promise something that isn't being delivered? The graphics and artwork are not up to par, the game is so repetitious that boredom is inevitable. Some of the content I am sure I recognize from other Domini games. Domini just seems to keep falling down the entertainment scale and BF doesn't seem to care much about quality any more. Very sad for all of us! How I yearn for the good old days! Maybe some day, someone will "wake up and smell the coffee". For now I just try to avoid the thorns and appreciate the roses. I'm certain Domini fans will be happy with this game. It isn't bad if HOGs are your delight. For me it is a pass.
