f you like your adventures on the easier side, a fair amount (but not too much) of hidden object scenes and not so much the puzzles then you should really enjoy this game.
The adventure side of this was great, you explored many and different types of environments and the graphics were quite crisp and clear with nice colour to enjoy the scenery. I thought I would be revisiting a lot of the scenes in the first game as it’s the same house but it’s all brand new, which was a pleasant surprise. The plot was really developed here and for the first time drew me into the story. I pleasantly enjoyed the first game in the series but I thought this overall, with the scenery, plot and adventure was better.
This time you visit a hallway in the house with large locked paintings, each representing a chapter and a completely different world location. When you were doing the normal interactions of HOPAs (hidden object puzzle adventure) it made such a different doing it with nice and different locations.
It was great to have no sparkles even on the hidden object scenes on the hardest setting of two and there was no random click penalty.
They had morphs which I do think IMO is a must for a CE or at least to collect items so it was great to see this but sadly no achievements in the CE.
There is a transporter map (instant jump to a different location) and it also tells you if there are things you can CURRENTLY do in a location. Sometimes games have this feature but you still can’t do something so it’s wonderful to see this.
Sadly I have to come to the not so good part.
-I was very disappointed in the puzzles in the main game, I felt they were uninspired, not many and I yearned for more and better quality ones.
-The interactions of some gameplay relied too much on ‘find a drawing of ‘x’ then when you found ‘x’ you just had to press buttons in the same order. I find that boring and they really repeated that.
-Every hidden object scene they repeated (I don’t think more than twice). Some were junk pile, but I didn't find any tiny items and it was clear to see.
-Hand holding on the advanced setting with black bar tips.
BONUS
It was really well done. The plot was really developed and suddenly the puzzles turned up! While not brilliant in terms of originality, spin or twist I was just glad they were there. They did ratchet the hardness up by about half a point (3.5 in overall gameplay and puzzles for a HOPA) I found the gameplay to be better and more enjoyable than the main game. Bonus took me 1hr 35min so it was a good length for bonus gameplay for a change. More importantly the gameplay and scenery was just lovely. About 20 mins of that time it was old scenes but the rest was new.
TIME – main game – 5hrs 20mins plus a further 1hr 35min for the bonus play. (no skipping on hard, I don’t use SG) In all about 7hrs gameplay.
I just found this game too easy for me, the lack of good puzzles and repeating of H O scenes made this a 4 star game instead of the 5 star that I want to give it.
I recommend this game!

For those that love quite a lot of hidden object scenes (especially near the end) and also quite a lot of puzzles, I think you will enjoy this game.
I really enjoyed this game, it wasn’t anything earth shattering new but it was well done. Sometimes you don’t want a challenging game, just an enjoyable one. I felt the pace of the game was good throughout, and there was a good selection of new areas to explore.
The plot is going back in time to change history, it may be pushing it but I thought it was OK. I don’t think you could ever get lost as to where to go next as it’s very obvious so those that don’t like wandering around games should find that aspect good. The backtracking was minimum which I really appreciated. I also loved that on the most advanced mode, the no black bar tips worked and on the puzzles you had to bring up hints if you wanted them, so no hand holding.
I did find some cutscenes not that sharp in graphics and overall a mixture of grainy graphics in some areas and quite sharp in others.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES –
Pros -
The hidden object scenes weren’t crystal clear and some scenes were grainy, but items were defined enough, and I don’t remember any tiny objects to find. There were no grey, dark backgrounds and they all had some nice colour to them. I enjoyed some of the interactions of them as well. I don’t think I had to repeat a scene more than twice, although it would have been lovely to not repeat them at all.
ERS why don’t you become the first developer to have a skip button on hidden object scenes as well as puzzles – I think that would be a great hit!
Cons –
Some were junkpiles on steroids.
They were quite close together especially near the end when it seemed I was playing H O scenes back to back.
I played on the hardest mode (3rd one) and there were still sparkles for the hidden object scenes, and they had a random click penalty both of which I hate.
PUZZLES
ERS have really stepped up their puzzles in both the style and hardness of some of them. There were also loads of little interactions or mini-minigames throughout the gameplay which I love, to open doors for example instead of finding keys. Even the puzzles we know like the sliding one, had a twist on it. I loved the Hedgehog and mushroom puzzle as well as the cupid one. And I mostly forgave the back to back hidden object scenes at the end as there was a lot of puzzles.
The inventory fan was plain annoying as it took sometimes 3 clicks to get an item, as it was hidden, you couldn’t lock it and only 5 items showed.
The sort of reversed silhouette hidden object scene in the demo, that was the only one in the whole game.
I really enjoyed the very last interaction you had to do in a game.
It is on the shorter side for time for a SE – it took me 4hrs 45mins on the hardest setting (no skipping)
I recommend this game!

There is two modes of play with this, one with a timer and one casual mode. I only played casual mode. It was great for a change to be able to play a TM game without being kicked out of a level. You are a girl working the farm and each level requires you to make or collect different things - from milk, eggs, fruit, wool, to later making pies, mittens, bandages, yoghurt etc. There is a man who rakes the hay, collects water, and food for the animals for you but you have still to tell him what to do.
You also have things to buy for improvements (although I wish I didn't buy the large truck as you run out of money quicker than you can make it.) And can sell or buy animals.
I liked how the game was broken up after every 5 levels or so with a hidden object scene - find 15 sheep. But it was timed and if you clicked on a wolf or random clicked you were penalised heavily with the clock. Those had to be the hardest things to find as they were just shadows and I never finished one!
It was long enough, not super long as some TM games I've seen. I just liked that I could play and finish a TM game for a change. It's not the most exciting TM game I have played but enjoyed it.
I recommend this game!

If you like a lot of hidden object scenes, quite a lot of them are junk pile and wandering back and forth a fair bit - then this is worth a try. I bought this as a DD, and it passed the time nicely. I am surprised that this is only a year old as this game by VOGAT plays like a much older game.
The plot line is the mad scientist gone awry and your sister has disappeared and you along with a FBI agent look for her. It's standard fare but I found that part enjoyable enough.
The hidden object scenes, are many and you do repeat them sometimes, especially near the end nearly immediately afterwards. There is 2 choice of settings and both give you sparkles and the 2nd level I played on also had the random click penalty in the hidden object scenes which I dislike.
The puzzles were about medium difficulty and scattered throughout the game and although nothing great, at least kept me playing it along with the graphics. I liked some of the scenes (not hidden object) and the airport I thought was a bit different from the usual.
Length was about 4-5hrs, which was fine as I was getting bored and wanted it to end.
I don't like all those straight junk pile scenes so wouldn't recommend it, but if you do take a look or if you can get it as a DD.
I'm rounding it up to 3 stars as I got it as a DD so felt for that, it was worth it.

The only reason I bought it was knowing that it was this hyped up, long awaited ERS game so I thought it would be something special when it didn’t even come up to the standard of a good ‘same old’ game. Azada libro was far better than this, being a straight adventure game.
ERS concentrated on the live actors and seemed to not put as much effort into gameplay or plot or even some of their graphics. And although the lip synch in the actors was mainly good - when it wasn’t, it’s just so off putting. They are obviously trying to catch up to elephant and BFG with using them but just putting live actors into a “C” adventure game isn’t being different and it doesn’t make a blah game good.
Plot was a mishmash of a nod to haunted halls and every other game – mostly children in peril, and ending been done so many times. I’d forgive the tired plot if the gameplay wasn’t as tired. There was nothing new or exciting or even captivating about this game. There didn’t seem to be many new areas to explore. In the middle of the game, puzzles were few and far between and the lack of achievements or things to collect (which should be a minimum for a CE game) made the middle part of the game boring.
There was a puzzle which was a twist on the rotating rings puzzle and that was good but you had better like it as it kept repeating, getting slightly harder each time. The last hour suddenly got more interesting and had a couple of harder puzzles in it very close to each other, with some others. I would have loved if it had been spaced out a bit more, so I could have enjoyed them in amongst the same old tired gameplay. Most of the puzzles were on the easy side.
There was a choice of 3 settings of hardness for gameplay. I play on the hardest for ERS games as they are easy games to play. But I still got full explanations for all the puzzles even though they say there would be no tips and occasionally I still got the black bar tips which they also said wouldn’t be there. Do developers not know that when you play on advanced you don’t want any hand holding?
I think this should have been a SE game and not a CE game, when you think of games like phenoman: city of cyan and urban legends the maze were straight SEs (that were far better than this) I don’t understand how this was a CE. I haven’t been as disappointed in a game I bought for ages.
The plot was 100% tied up in the SE main game.
BONUS GAMEPLAY -
Actually the bonus gameplay was good, it was puzzle heavy so for those that don’t like puzzles or skip them then it will be super short. It took me 45 mins no skipping but if you find puzzles harder it will take you longer. I wish the main game was more like this. The setting was about 50% same area as before and 50% new. The one thing that was really bad about the bonus was the plot. But because the gameplay was OK by then, I didn’t mind too much.
Other bonus – 4 music ‘tracks’ you hear being looped over and over during the game, screensaver, concept art, wallpaper
TIME – main game – 5hrs plus 45 mins in bonus
so in all quite a short game (compared to others)
I don't recommend this game.

I finally got this game working after years, (found the right nvidia driver to roll back to) and just finished it. It took me on a journey with highs and lows and I ended up loving this game far more than the first one, which I really, really recommend you play first although I really enjoyed the first one as well.
This KHEOPS game follows off immediately where the first game ended, stranded again on the island. This time you play both as Jeb the monkey who was in the first game and Mina. In case you are wondering if the game would get boring as you are back on the same island, it’s not. There are plenty of new areas to explore, different characters, even some arcade style games all this coupled with playing as Jeb makes this ‘new’ and fresh.
Although arcade mini games are my least favourite type of game, it does have an option to play them in easy mode. Like most LF games you can’t skip any puzzles and you do have to do manual saves. It is a 360 game but you can slow down the camera under options in the main menu and this DEV is the only 360 game I can play because of this.
This is really a non linear game and it’s a challenge but if you have played the first game it will really help you out and make that side of it easier. It’s a true adventure game as you have to examine everything, explore everywhere and try everything. If you do you will get extra points from some of your choices.
The plot is well rounded and fleshed out and everything explained near the end. There is also a choice of endings and if you didn’t save just beforehand they give you a choice to play the alternate ending.
To combine items just drag one on top of the another in the inventory and if there is more items that can be combined with it, it will go into the big box beneath the inventory with a ‘?’ which tells you that you can drag other items onto it as well. I didn’t realise that this box where you combine things had a scroll arrow at the side, so do remember that there could be things there waiting to be combined and you can’t see them! To make Jeb or Mina eat or use some things you can also drag something from the inventory onto their icon in the inventory as well. I thought at the end the game allowed me to use something that I needed but it didn’t (it was hidden in the combined area) so don’t worry the game won’t allow you to do that or it will give you an alternative that you can use.
To get high points play around with the inventory – you can cook and bake!
I love that this game has shortcuts that opens up – transporter map so you can ‘jump’ from place to place and cut back on the backtracking.
This game I wouldn’t recommend for the non patient or those that have never played a true adventure game before, it’s a challenge. I rate it 5/5 for a reason and I play a lot of these! But for ‘experts’ I didn’t find it frustrating (bar the first nut arcade challenge which I hated and wouldn’t work one time and some other arcade mini games) it was mostly straightforward and I found it the perfect level of challenge.
So sorry it's over as it's definitely in the top 3 best ever large file game, I have played here at BF if not the top.
I recommend this game!

I would recommend playing the other 2 games first, in this casual adventure series by Kheops to understand the story so far but you don’t have to.
Like the first two games which has a completely different setting in each game, the tradition continues. This time you wake up in 1886, in a house as a doctor. You then as you go through the house, discover things you have to do and collect. There are a lot of 'find 15 same items' areas. There are not different scenes as a hidden object scene would be, but it is integrated into the areas you are.
You can play this game in 360 or by using arrows, you can go into the menu and change it there. You have a task menu to your left, and if you click on the ? beside it, it will give you clues to your task. The puzzles do have a skip button as well as the option to make it easier.
For those that have played the other 2 - You may be disappointed. This has gone more 'generic', mainstream. It seems very straightforward even easy to me. There is a lot of 'find same items' areas. I really liked the first in the series, more complicated and some of the puzzles quite hard. The 2nd one I didn't like so much, but I found that harder than this. This seems so easy! It just didn’t seem like a sequel to the others.
I can't believe how short it was. I played on hard and it was about 3 and a half hours. And I recommend you playing it on hard as this is a short and very easy game. I was playing the first game for ages compared with this. I liked the cellar puzzle in the demo, and thought there would be a lot more interactive play like that. There ended up being far too many 'find same items'.
The difference between the first game and this one, that I missed - the first had complex puzzles, non linear (to an extent) game play, bit of head scratching. This was very straightforward what to do next, easy puzzles (as in you know what you had to do, even if it took you a while).
The first game was an A this ended up being a B or B+. The ending was satisfying - not a surprise which was good. I did enjoy it, in a casual, don't have to think too much about this game kind of way and I wanted to see the end. Just a shame that the standard dropped so much from the first game, and such completely different type of gameplay that it didn’t feel like a sequel.
Only recommend for true lovers of the first two in the series who wants to know the ending, and if you can get it at as a DD.
(edited from my original review but still feel the same)

for differences and more detailed reviews about the bonus see my CE review but worth noting you can't collect the owls in SE
I am going to be slightly harder on this game purely because Elephant raised the bar with their last game – surface - mystery of another world. Here they took a step down from that level, I can’t help being slightly disappointed in this game compared to surface.
BUT compared to raincliff I think it fares well, in some aspects it is better (map). All 3 of this series (the void, raincliff and now this) have gotten better and I have really enjoyed all of them. But I did prefer raincliff setting, the midnight blue - makes it look like every other good HOPA out there, although it does have colour in outdoor scenes throughout.
I enjoyed the live actors, and live animals it is one of the things that make it stand out from the crowd. Although in a couple of cut scenes, the opening being the worst, the lip synch is so way off it is annoying. But most cutscenes how they are done you don’t see their lips.
I love Elephants graphics in their games, crystal clear, no wash on them. But those like myself who hate sparkles will be disappointed. I played on hardcore and I still had sparkles on hidden object scenes (in surface no sparkles on middle setting!)
MAP AND LOCATIONS
The GOOD –
- It has the transporter map, which makes a HUGE difference and raincliff didn’t so that’s a step up.
-It also has an exclamation mark in areas that things still need done in. If you hover over it, it will also tell you what it is.
The BAD
One of the major things that set ‘surface’ apart, was the variety of the look and feel of different locations as well as the sheer number of them. In ‘surface’ each chapter was completely different and you never revisited previous chapter scenes even at the end, it was all new.
Sadly here not so, like most other HOPAs out there (including raincliff) you do go back into old locations.
In black Isle, outside it was mostly raining and always dark. I like the rain it was soothing (apart from the thunder!) but maybe a chapter with the sun would be different.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES
The BAD - 99% junk pile and some bad junk pile.
The GOOD –
-no random click penalty
- Non repeating scenes,
-well spaced out – don’t have one every time you turn a corner!
-Use of inventory item is needed, although sometimes you literally put it in a scene only to lift it out again without interaction but most were well done
- I lOVED the mini puzzles in some, would love to see more and that was my favourite thing about them.
PUZZLES
The BAD - Sadly most/all were easy. I agree the time consuming one was the feathers and I didn't like the 'constellation' one.
The GOOD – Even though most were non original it was a good face lift. I haven’t seen the bee puzzle in ages, loved that but would have liked to have seen it harder, and bigger.
I loved the unique take on ‘spot the difference’ took an old and boring (to me!) game to a new level. I did enjoy the puzzles but please make them harder!
And even though they were easy, some did take some time which was good.
RE plot I can’t say anything or it would be a spoiler. It’s not a person disappeared case, which you realise quite quickly but a spin on it. It could have been fleshed out more and those that love a lot of update re story during the game will be disappointed.
Vague *spoiler* for type of ending -
Ending for main game, I don’t like those kind of endings personally. Everything was 100% wrapped up and then.. It wasn’t a ‘to be continued in the bonus' but very close. I personally would prefer they didn’t say anything if I was a SE player.
SE game time (not including bonus) is a hard one, as I normally don’t play hardcore (no hints, no skips, and only looked at walkthrough a couple of times) it was over 8hrs and I realised how much I must use hints! But my normal play mode (no sparkles, rare walkthrough, some hints) I’d guess 6 -7hrs. If you use sparkles and walkthrough well obviously it’s going to be under 5hrs I’d guess. Even though there isn’t that many locations, it does take a long time.
If they had no sparkles for Hidden object scenes, harder puzzles, different outdoor scenery no going back to old areas, I'd give it an A. But then I don't give "A"s out often!
I recommend this game!

A very well done game. For those that love plot and a lot of dialogue, done here in voiceover, not many hidden object scenes and unique puzzles and slightly harder puzzles than usual, this game is for you.
The dialogue you can skip which was good as you could read it if you were impatient. But it’s the best voiceover I ever remember in a game, very good and creepy. The puzzles were mostly medium with some nice harder ones thrown in and what a refreshing change to say that some were truly unique. It had the usual 2 choice of hardness, I play hardcore and it had sparkles on hidden object scenes (but when you repeat them I guess you have to)
Pros –
No random clicking on hidden object scenes on hard mode
Mostly non junk hidden object scenes (you did repeat them but not more than twice)
Unique and some harder puzzles
Longer than most HOPAs (hidden object puzzle adventure)
Hint button told you if there was anything in an area to do
Plot was very well done
Cons –
The biggest con to me was that they gave you a map and it wasn’t a transporter map as there was a lot of backtracking going on.
It was a confusing map – 3 different pages, and sometimes didn’t show you active areas or things you needed to pick up or do. It was a maze.
I hate endings of not finishing things up. They could have kept it at the scene beforehand and not the ‘in the bonus play…’
If I could do a puzzle when he was talking that would have been great, I could pick up items but not move or do anything.
I love a game with harder puzzles and not cluttered with hidden object scenes but all that backtracking when it was so easy to get lost, and not have a transporter map really brought down the score on this game.
So an A grade game was brought down to a B+.
(I am very hard on scoring games.)
I recommend this game!
