All my reviews are on complete gameplay but I had a glitch in this game with 10 mins to go, so played 99% of it.
Well the name of the DEV says it all – puzzle lab - as there are a lot of puzzles which is my kind of game. There is a fair bit of handholding going on which I wish wasn’t there and the puzzles were on the easier side. But even the easier puzzles most had a great face lift and had a multi layer – like the ‘jigsaw’ type had 2 layers to it. No pipe puzzles, or gears, or slider puzzles, it was different which I really appreciate. I did find the game got better and not as easy after the demo period.
I liked the setting it was bright but obviously dusk or maybe bad weather, but it shows that you can make a game that gives a slight mystery without that midnight blue that every other HOPA usually has. This was so refreshing to see as the scenes were very bright.
There are voiceovers throughout but sadly the main character – the girl, had to be one of the worst voice acting I have heard and it did detract from the game.
You can change hardness setting while playing the game, no sparkles on hard.
MAP, BUILT- IN STRATEGY GUIDE & JOURNAL
Pros –
There is an in built SG in a SE game which is accessed in game and will open up usually around where you are in the game.
There is a map which shows you active hotspots – things you can do something in.
Journal you could replay all the cutscenes, they were next to the journal entry which I thought was logical.
There is a task button, if you click on it will tell you your tasks
Cons –
When trying the SG out, it didn’t open where I was a couple of times, and actually revealed spoilers as it was a few pages ahead. I tried it later and it seemed to work better.
Journal kept sparkling at every update which was often.
Map wasn’t a transporter map.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES
(no cons!)
No random click penalty on hard mode – yeah!
There weren’t many hidden object scenes but when you came across them, it was like two in one as there was a completely hidden and different scene in most of them (except one), sometimes it was a frog, or find ‘x’ amount of same items – this was excellently done and I loved them more so, than the main H O scene and I enjoyed those.
Mostly the H O scenes weren’t junk pile and there were also small interactions in it as well.
I thought how they did the hidden object scenes was excellent.
PLOT
I liked, it wasn’t original but had enough of a twist on it to make it feel you weren’t in game déjà vu. I am afraid I can’t tell you how it ends, if it was satisfying or not as I had a glitch (I think rare) and it stopped me 10 mins from the end (argh!)
Some gamers I know don’t play anything that has anything to do with occult or dark side etc. This doesn’t have anything like this, the bad guys aren’t witches etc and there was nothing even in H O scenes.
I wouldn’t even put this game in the eerie category although it’s not in the light and airy one either.
time - it was about the normal time of a HOPA for me - 5-6hrs on hard, no skipping puzzles. (maybe nearer the 5hr mark)
Overall – It’s a really good game for puzzle lovers even if it’s on the easy side and I appreciated all the little differences that really adds up and makes it seem refreshing from the usual style HOPAs.
I recommend this game!

For a newbie to TM game this was 'nice' for me. Not too fast paced clicking of mouse.
There are 50 levels (and then go back to redo some levels which makes another 25) as well as a freeform casual mode.
You have to manage shops in a mall with different challenges each level. You can hire staff, which each does a different job. But you can only employ one staff at a time. Which I didn't realise till much later. I thought I was employing a cashier and an assistant, then realised I had been wasting my money as an assitant does the cashier job AND wraps presents.
I wished when a box came up for you to do something ie payroll, vacation request, it bleeped or something, As when I had 8 shops and I had decorated them very colorful with all the shoppers etc, I didn't notice some requests. Especially when you are trying to look for certain shoppers.
I can't remember which level I got 'green' or yellow flag on, it would be nice to replay a level at my own choosing to get better 'mark'.
tips - think ahead to next level and try and get a start on it
(later levels will require all shops to get a max '50' on it, so if they only ask for 2 shops with level 50, try and get 3 or 4. This is quite easy as you should be trying to raise the rating of all shops at the same time.)
- If money is the goal, buy expensive shops, it hurts at the beginning but they give you the maximum revenue back the quickest.
That and a high rating. With only one or two shops open, you don't need staff at the beginning of a level so save money there.
I don't play that many TM games but this one was pleasant enough, worth a look for a DD but more experienced TM players will tell you if it holds up against other games.

This leaves of from the first game and it's a nice logical continuous story. Even though there is a lot of the same feel of the first game, there is a lot of differences in interaction, more collecting of same items (find 10 butterflies in large area) in each door/area. There are 4 doors, each representing a different season and then large corresponding 'world' you explore.
If you liked the first game (which I strongly suggest you play first) I think you will like this one.
There are sparkles for mini games and puzzles, but not for items to find. Whereas it would be nice to have an option for advanced play to not have any sparkles. There is a fair bit of back and forth but less than some HOPAs I have played.
Overall I love the difference in story, the 'feel' of the game. Unique in a world of HOGS scary houses/towns. Nice in built hint/strategy guide (but not perfect)
The adventure and puzzle side were nice although puzzles were too easy, and to me a big bonus - non repetitive repeating of HOG scenes (i think twice was the max?) It took me about 5hrs to play - nice length (I am not a fast player). And I think it is better than the first game.
improvements for next game -
- Harder puzzles - very easy so not for those looking for a harder puzzle game
- advanced mode (maybe harder puzzles and no sparkles)
I enjoyed the difference style in this game, despite the sparkles and easier puzzles!
I recommend this game!

This is a charming little game from boomzap, what I call a filler game, an easier game to be played between harder games. It is by far the easiest in the series but I found it to be the most enjoyable. If you play the others you can see that this is the first in the series and they have progressed in length, graphics and hardness.
I love the graphics and the fairytale story, it is certainly a game that you could give to your young daughter to play. I love how the puzzles were one after another but they were sadly super easy, but they were a bit different, there wasn’t a pipe or gear puzzle to be found.
If you love hidden object games then this isn’t for you as they are few and far between and a different kind (thankfully!) from the normal junk pile you usually see, but they were really well done.
It was short 3hrs for me and I’m not a fast player, but I didn’t feel cheated. I love at the end in the main menu how there is a mah-jong game you can play and apparently there is a further part of the story upon completing it (non vital). I don’t like the game, but I appreciate the thought of putting it in.
It may appear dated compared with modern HOPAs but for a fun, different lighthearted game with loads of puzzles it’s a very good B- from me. A laid back easier, relaxing Sunday a’noon game or for your kids.
I recommend this game!

What makes this game different is two things; an interactive transporter map and a ‘click on 3 or more’ mini game which you can toggle back and forth during a hidden object scene.
You don’t get the map until about 30 mins into the game and very annoyingly at the end of the game it is taken from you, so there was needless back and forth.
As well as the transporter aspect there is also a time element, change something in time, and travel to the same scene at a different time and that will have changed. I really enjoyed that aspect. The map also gave you an exclamation mark in areas that you could do something in, which was good.
I also liked the progressively hard mini game which you can choose instead of doing the hidden object scenes, and can even toggle back and forth during the scene if you change your mind. I did not like the repeating of the hidden object scenes, all were at least repeated twice and some more than 4. If it was just repeated twice I’d get it – you can do the hidden object scene one time and the mini game the other. There seemed to be more time and thought into the ‘click 3 game’ (I wouldn’t call it a match 3 as you didn’t have to drag an item to make a chain of 3 or more).
But that is where my enjoyment ended, and I did mostly enjoy this game until near the end when I lost the map then I had no patience.
THE NOT SO GOOD -
You repeat one puzzle a few times, another puzzle twice, and apart from a standard pipe puzzle at the end, and a couple of others there weren’t any puzzles. This was an inventory game a lot of ‘pick up and use in other scenes’.
Continuing on from the previous game in the series, there is a cliffhanger, here a literal “to be continued.” I hate these, especially when the plot wasn’t that gripping to begin with – I was bored with it.
the repeating of the hidden object scenes slowly grew more annoying.
Some tweaks, this game could have been a good game, it was so close. For those that like a change from hidden object scenes and like those “match 3” minigames, or if it’s a DD it’s worth a look. It’s a standard length – it took me about 5 hrs. About C+ rating - quite a good rating for me.
(I am now doing 'out of 5' star rating and not the 'like' etc rating)

I LOVED briar rose the first in this series, enjoyed exiled prince and was really disappointed in this game.
I would have given it 2 stars for my personal taste.
But I know all the people that just love FROG (this is all FROG scenes) and a LOT of them, very few puzzles will love this game. So will do my pro and list to give you info about the game, although you won’t agree on which list I put some items!
Pros –
-Morphs on a SE which also lead to faster hint button
-Exclamation mark on map, to let you know if something needs done
-Collection of 5 different sets of gems to open up short parables in your diary was a nice touch
Cons –
-If they gave us a map they could have made it an interactive map as the backtracking in this game, was a lot.
-Repeating at least twice of all the FROG scenes some 4 times and random click penalty
-So many FROG scenes, some straight after each other
-Repeating of puzzles – one puzzle was repeated five times, another 3 times!!
-Very few puzzles
If you love straight FROG, HOGs, picking up things, but not many puzzles then I do recommend this game to you.
I don't mind FROGs for a change although they aren't my favourite but lack of puzzles, repeating them as well as the FROG scenes just left me as cold as the setting of this game.
I don't recommend this game.

I did prefer the first game in the series (the mystery of mcinroy manor) and this game feels like it should have been the first game and not the sequel as sequels are usually better. But this was a pleasant if easy game.
If plot is important to you, then this game does deliver with a nice mystery. What is good about this is, that if you want more details about the plot, read your diary, and for players that just want basic plot details and get down to playing the game, it doesn’t intrude too much. This balances it perfectly and pleases everyone. But there were some weird stuff going on in the plot which I would have preferred not to be there.
It does have the feel of an older HOPA. There were two settings I played on the harder one, and it still gave me sparkles for hidden object scenes which I don’t like.
The first game in the series, didn’t have many hidden object scenes, here there are much more and you do repeat them, but they are interactive which is nice (you pick up something or do something in a scene to get an item.)
Hint button tells you if there is something to do in the scene and if there isn’t, it won’t empty until it takes you to something you can do.
It wasn’t puzzle heavy, I’d have liked to have seen more puzzles. There was a fair amount of backtracking, but if are used to HOPAs you expect that. I am surprised that this was a CE.
Nothing special but if you pick it up as a DD it’s a pleasant, relaxing, easier, game.

I am going to be slightly harder on this game purely because Elephant raised the bar with their last game – surface - mystery of another world. Here they took a step down from that level and after just finishing surface, I can’t help being slightly disappointed in this game compared to surface.
BUT compared to raincliff I think it fares well, in some aspects it is better (map). All 3 of this series (the void, raincliff and now this) have gotten better and I have really enjoyed all of them. But I did prefer raincliff setting, the midnight blue - makes it look like every other good HOPA out there, although it does have colour in outdoor scenes throughout.
I enjoyed the live actors, and live animals it is one of the things that make it stand out from the crowd. Although in a couple of cut scenes, the opening being the worst, the lip synch is so way off it is annoying. But most cutscenes how they are done you don’t see their lips.
I love Elephants graphics in their games, crystal clear, no wash on them. But those like myself who hate sparkles will be disappointed. I played on hardcore and I still had sparkles on hidden object scenes (in surface no sparkles on middle setting!)
MAP AND LOCATIONS
The GOOD –
- It has the transporter map, which makes a HUGE difference and raincliff didn’t so that’s a step up.
-It also has an exclamation mark in areas that things still need done in. If you hover over it, it will also tell you what it is.
The BAD
One of the major things that set ‘surface’ apart, was the variety of the look and feel of different locations as well as the sheer number of them. In ‘surface’ each chapter was completely different and you never revisited previous chapter scenes even at the end, it was all new.
Sadly here not so, like most other HOPAs out there (including raincliff) you do go back into old locations.
In black Isle, outside it was mostly raining and always dark. I like the rain it was soothing (apart from the thunder!) but maybe a chapter with the sun would be different.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES
The BAD - 99% junk pile and some bad junk pile.
The GOOD –
- Non repeating scenes,
-well spaced out – don’t have one every time you turn a corner!
-Use of inventory item is needed, although sometimes you literally put it in a scene only to lift it out again without interaction but most were well done
- I lOVED the mini puzzles in some, would love to see more and that was my favourite thing about them.
PUZZLES
The BAD - Sadly most/all were easy.
The GOOD – Even though most were non original it was a good face lift. I haven’t seen the bee puzzle in ages, loved that but would have liked to have seen it harder, and bigger.
I loved the unique take on ‘spot the difference’ took an old and boring (to me!) game to a new level. I did enjoy the puzzles but please make them harder!
And even though they were easy, some did take some time which was good.
RE plot I can’t say anything or it would be a spoiler. It’s not a person disappeared case, which you realise quite quickly but a spin on it.
Vague *spoiler* for type of ending -
Ending for main game, I don’t like those kind of endings personally. Everything was 100% wrapped up and then.. It wasn’t a ‘to be continued in the bonus' but very close. I personally would prefer they didn’t say anything if I was a SE player.
BONUS GAMEPLAY –
Timed myself 1hr 30 mins no skipping puzzles, on hardcore. Quite a bit shorter than the other chapters but I really enjoyed it.
The setting is the same initial setting in the main game but different weather! Some new areas, revisit a couple of old scenes. What I liked about it was the puzzles, were more of a medium rating of hardness than the mostly easy in the main game. I loved the visuals/story it was funny and really enjoyed that part (by this time you don’t take the plot too seriously!)
CE extras –
50 owls – you don’t collect any more in the bonus and they are in the H O scenes as well.
Video – That was really good.
-It gave you out-takes and how the actors were filmed in ‘green’ screen.
-Also, there was a really funny quick movie. (which I won’t spoil)
-All the original intros they had for the movie (which I preferred!) and other actors they had doing the parts.
This was all very quick, only a couple of minutes long.
Music, artwork, screensavers, and the SG, and achievements.
SE game time (not including bonus) is a hard one, as I normally don’t play hardcore (no hints, no skips, and only looked at walkthrough a couple of times) it was over 8hrs and I realised how much I must use hints! But my normal play mode (no sparkles, rare walkthrough, some hints) I’d guess 6 -7hrs. If you use sparkles and walkthrough well obviously it’s going to be under 5hrs I’d guess. Even though there isn’t that many locations, it does take a long time.
Bonus play –another 1hr 30mins.
If they had no sparkles for Hidden object scenes, harder puzzles, different outdoor scenery, I'd give it an A. But then I don't give "A"s out often!
I recommend this game!

The game started badly for me. My family is Irish although I lived in Scotland. So when I first heard the worst fake accents, not just Irish but English, followed by bad canned, what the makers think is Irish music, I nearly gave up.
This is not one of my favourites of ND games. I think the graphics were worse than the last game in the series although still good. There were some nice moments, and fun things. I think whether you like or love a ND game, a lot has to do with the setting, variety, and the puzzles. If you like all 3 then you are set. Personally I don’t like a game set around one location, and most of the puzzles I just didn’t like.
The story is you are maid of honor at a friends wedding in a castle in Ireland, when you get there the groom has disappeared and that is the mystery you have to solve.
Cons-
- I had a bug in the game, the game forum gave 3 tips to try which did work (it was to do with the thing/item that helps you access a part of the castle). I kept getting killed so was frustrated.
- This is one of those game where the 2nd chance (game automatically restarts the game just before you did a fatal error) must be a record with the amount and in different places it is used, so if you don’t like that..
- There is only 3 main characters that you see for most of the game.
- a small thing but the bride is just sitting reading a book the whole time just before a wedding? And where is all the guests or family, a bit weird but if you enjoy the game I am sure your 'disbelief will be suspended'
pros -
There is humour in a minigame (sheep) and there is a very good ‘spot the difference’ in the pub arcade machine – 10 different scenes.
You have fun doing something unexpected; I don’t want to spoil it for you.
If you love Irish folklore, haunted castles, exploring the castle and grounds (that is the whole game apart from the pub) then I think you will enjoy it.
So I know a lot will enjoy this, and I did in parts but overall it just wasn’t for me. But still like most ND games it’s a good game, just not my taste.

I loved this game. Elephant continues to push themselves and the results are worth it. It truly is an A grade HOPA. Best game yet from them and one of my top 3 all time favourite HOPA. It even gets better as you go along.
The graphics were really well done. I didn’t like real people in 13skull because of the way it was done, here it was well integrated, (although the lip synch was way off and was off putting).
They brought us back the integrated transporter map and I love them for it. What is even more amazing is that each chapter is completely self-contained and quite vast, and you have a new transporter map each chapter and each chapter is completely different (you don’t revisit scenes from previous chapters)
We have had kidnapping before but not in this sci-fi setting and how it was done is different.
I played on the middle of 3 choice of settings (as I like the option to skip puzzles if I need to) so I had no sparkles including hidden object scenes and no random click penalty. The puzzles were very well done and some were unique and took me a good time to play some of them – excellent.
There are a lot of options in setting up, which you don’t often see.
The hint button I did appreciate it but wish there was another option to not have spoilers but see if you have missed anything in a scene.
Each chapter took me roughly 2 hrs each even using the hints and only looking at walkthrough a couple of times. If you play this with sparkles or with a walkthrough, or skip puzzles, obviously gameplay will be much shorter.
The cloud – hidden object scenes, they were junk pile. Oh why elephant when you push yourself so far in every other area you fall short in this one, it marred the beauty of this game. The saving point of the hidden object scenes, were the crystal clear graphics and the great twist on them – you need an inventory item on something in each scene. But you don’t repeat them and no random click penalty (yeah!)
The villain is like a comic book villain (think of the movies like superman etc) and that is good as the game doesn’t feel like a ‘dark’ game.
SE play – 8hrs. (usually a SE would take me 5-6hrs.) bonus – between 1hr and 1hr 30min at the max
BONUS PROS AND CONS
Pros -
- Finding flowers in bonus usually it’s over in the main game
- 3 extra pipe puzzles (not the great pipe puzzle early in the main game but basic ones with a simple nice twist.) these are opened separately when you collect a certain increasing amount of flowers. When completed nice surprise on your main menu.
- Extra bonus play, was in comletely new area had a couple of nice puzzles
- Achievements
- music unlocked
- 3 mini videos (robots dancing around, and a hooded man dancing, and very short villian trying to dance but laughing at himself) at least it was a nice touch.
- Usual concept art, wallpaper etc.
Cons –
Only 3 puzzles from the main are unlocked for replayability if all of them were unlocked it would have been great.
Extra play was the shortest chapter (between 1hr and 15mins and 1hr and 30min) main chapters took me 2 hrs each.
I recommend this game!
