The game was pleasant to play and the scenes clear and attractive. I found the characters pleasing and the story line easy to follow. I gave it four stars because I did get very tired of all the games that "move one piece and it could move others." There seemed to be a lot of them and you can get very tired of pushing buttons and watching everything you had set up change yet again. There is such a variety of mini games nowadays it didn't seem necessary to have so many of these. Other than that the game was entertaining.
I tend to agree with lunaNICK. There were many mistakes, not only the 'rudder' that was a ship's wheel, or the 'apple' that could have been a beaten up tomato, but 'shears' that were called 'scissors' and a 'siren' that was a mermaid. There was little logic, and without logic it is very hard to follow a game constructively. Games that demand you use melted wax shaped like a hex key and expect it to work - as was used here -are not logical and it's no wonder we end up resorting to the hints over and over again, uttering in our solitude 'Huh? What the heck?' None of us who play these games are in any way lacking in mental ability, the games are demanding, but made even more so by the sheer lack of care by the makers. No, not this game, try something else.
This was a very enjoyable game. It didn't demand a University degree to get through it, although it was challenging in a relaxed way. The story was consistent and made sense. Yes, there were morphs, puzzle pieces and antiques to find, but were not impossible. I didn't have to use the hint for anything other than to work out where to go next which could be due to me not concentrating. I could do with more games like this, it hasn't left me feeling I am totally incompetent because of its lack of logic. There was logic and I do love logic in games.
For the first time in ages I was able to enjoy a game on all levels. The images were clear and lovely, the challenges logical and I was not required to keep using the hint button to find where I had to go next. It was a game I could play through and enjoy without the usual irritating lack of pattern and plan that make so many games incomprehensible.
and this is one of them. I had high hopes and actually spent the first free hour with it and then decided to buy it. How I wish I hadn't. It failed to take of. Maybe the best I can say is it is mundane in the extreme. There is little logic and so one is propelled to resort to the hint button far move often that I feel is right if I'm to pay out to play the game. I know I have complained of games that are all pink and purple with heavy blue thrown in and this certainly doesn't have that, but neither does it have any sense of fun or adventure. It's as dull as ditchwater and really not worth buying.
But despite the fact that the game was not in any way special, it was diverting, with all the usual find or go seek or whatever. The visuals were good, The HOGs okay. Yes, it's good enough to pass the time on a cold winters day.
This must be one of the most beautiful puzzles I have found in a very long time. The colours are wonderful and if you have ever loved lead lights then this will delight you. There are 25 puzzles (not nearly enough) and they start off fairly easy and get harder as you go along. Challenging, but still relaxing, it's a chance to lose yourself for a while. You travel from Iceland and go East covering the UK, Europe, China, Japan, Australia and across to the States before going north to Canada and Greenland working a clock face for each city. Each face depicts something that represents the country, so you are kept busy trying to guess as you go along. I can truly recommend this puzzle, you will enjoy it.
There are several things I liked about this game. First of all, it was in decent colour - daylight - with none of the oh so difficult and boring deep blues and heavy purples. Second, it was a relatively relaxed game to play in the first mode, but could become more difficult if you chose one of the other modes to play in. There was only ONE thing to find in each scene, which was a pleasant relief - one can get so distracted looking for medallions, items and morphing objects in every scene. If you are as sick of the overload we have been getting lately as I am, then this is a pleasant relief.
Every scene is deep blue - I'm heartily sick of blue, usually ragged curtains and things covered in dust and cobwebs. Talking about cobwebs I am sick of our Hero or Heroine not able to face taking them off with their hands - how wimpy. This game had far too many locks with no keys or slots with not corresponding game bits, it left water running in the sink as if water was dispensable and then left acid running across the cellar floor with no thought of stopping it. I know I am being picky, but I finished the game hoping for some decent HOGS but there were very few and not worth the playing. Time the makers began to come up with a different strategy, I am beginning to believe I am wasting my money here.
I played for an hour hoping it would improve, but there are too many signs, too many 'have to get this before you can do that', and I'm not that keen on seeing skinned bodies. It's all rather grim as if the creators were trying to go to an extreme of excessive grim, awful, blood curdling, fearful, terrible and darn right out of it all just to beat every other grim game. Not my cup of tea.
