The beasts Scylla and Charybdis got Hercules! Help his wife Megara free the hero and then accompany him to the forest of the Amazons and mount Olympus.
I really like this series and I did have a good time playing it. There were some new creatures and the overall story line was good. However the game was sooooo easy. In the forums, its mentioned that maybe this game was "dumbed down" since it said girl power. I find that hard to believe that developers would make it easy because its about a girl. I just think that some people complain about games being too hard so developers have lowered the bar. There are relaxed, casual & expert modes. I played casual so maybe I should have upped the ante and played expert. So I guess my complaint that its too easy is really a moot point if I never tried expert.
I liked that the female character Megara can open trees up that morph into a berry bush that you can get more food from. I always found I had more than enough and sometimes didn't even need to use the powerups. The levels were mostly click fests, no real strategy to it but you do get to scour the board first before you click. Some games like Viking Saga have a separate page for the story so once you see the gameboard the time starts. This one gives you a glance over. There are puzzles pieces to collect. They are pretty easy to find, just look for a H in the middle. Level 4.3 stumped most people in terms of the puzzle piece but once I found it in a walkthrough I was dumbfounded that I couldnt find it considering how easy it was! what a duh moment!
By getting all the pieces of the puzzle and putting the puzzle together by clicking on the puzzle piece sign next to a level is how you access the bonus scenes. You have to put the puzzle together and then it gives you access. Took me awhile to find that one out. There are lots of achievements but some I feel are impossible to get although I did see people in the forum had accomplished most of them. Most are doable except for me I could never beat a developers time nor did I beat one 10 times...Luckily you don't need all the achievements to open up the bonuses or the super bonus level. I still found these to be super easy. Oh well. At least I had fun. Its a good addition to the series.
I am generously giving this four stars. I feel it deserves a little over 3 stars but since I had a good time playing it, Im rounding up.
I usually don't do reviews unless I finish the entire game but I played almost all of it before deciding it wasn't worth my time to finish it!
It started off good, lots to do, interesting storyline although overdone. There are crystals, coins and statues to collect all of which have nothing to do with the game. You have a zoo of "animals" and the crystals help transform them to life and the coins buy you new interfaces. I really wasn't riveted by the bonuses in this game. Achievements are the usual fare but with a lot of story ones that no matter what you will get. I hate those. It ruins the story to see them too! Wish developers would just hide those achievements because we will get them no matter what so why do we need to see them?
The hidden object scenes are interactive lists but on the 2nd time around we have to put back the object. All are easy. The mini games were way too easy for me also. I like to relax but I do like to use my brain cells too and this game does not tax the brain at all. There are the usual things like needing keys for doors, bas reliefs to open other doors, a alchemy potion that does something to green objects. Honestly it came out of nowhere and isn't very well done.
This is by domini games however if I had not known that I would have thought ERS because its a formula and very linear. In the beginning where the demo would have been, they put out all the stops but a few hours into the game it starts to go nowhere with mundane tasks and a boring overall feel. This game actually helps my insomnia!
I am 1/2 chapter away from completing the game BUT I just can't keep playing it. I am bored. Overall the story took too long to develop and I lost interest. The collectibles/achievements are nothing special. The only thing I really liked was you can play a jigsaw puzzle instead of doing the hidden object scenes. If its the interactive lists you get a jigsaw option, if its the put back the object you get a match 3 option. I can never get the 10 objects in 10 seconds achievement but you can get it just by doing the puzzle...not sure how that worked really but it lit up.
Cured my insomnia & couldn't finish it nor did I want to finish it. Its not the worst game but its definitely not the best. Save your money. There are far better games out there than this. I don't recommend.
I remember when I first demoed this way back when, I hated it BUT I decided to give it another chance and Im sooo glad I did! This is a 5 star game in my opinion but because there is nothing exciting about the CE and because the bonus chapter is not needed and really is just a bunch of hidden object scenes & going to all the same places, I give this game 4 stars. Had I bought this as a standard edition however, I would have 5 starred it.
I have to admit that the beginning is a little corny but once you are aboard the train and go into the different places to release souls, the game gets better and becomes kind of spooky. I loved going to all the sinister people's houses and luring them back to the train where Charon takes their souls. Each story line was unique and touched on stories I already knew but gave them each a fresh breath of air!
The hidden object scenes are interactive but the game does not highlight which objects are interactive so its a guessing game which I found a lot more fun than being told which ones to use by it being bolded or something. There were a nice variety of puzzles, most were easy but a few were a brain tease and I enjoy harder puzzles so they were all doable in my book. You visit each hidden object scene twice. There are different modes of play, 4 I believe (sorry if Im mistaken about this).
The CE is really not worth the extra money. There are no collectibles or achievements. You get the cutscenes, music soundtrack and concept art. The game completely ends in the main game so the bonus chapter was not needed nor did it have any real story behind it. And the bonus chapter was VERY short.
I played for about 5+ hours and once I got through the cheesy opening scenes and really gave this game a chance did I enjoy it! It is definitely worth a trial if not a buy. I am happy I chose to give it another shot!
I have to say I enjoyed this game a lot more than I originally thought I would. I just figured this would be the same old thing in terms of runes and orders but I was wrong. These are the same developers who do the nonogram games and other puzzlers so I was surprised that they did such a good job on this hidden object game.
The plot line is actually interesting. I genuinely wanted to know who the bad guy was and my judgement was lacking in that area. Had no idea until the end. The only bad thing about the plot line is that without the bonus chapter, you will have no idea what really happened as the entire conclusion is in the bonus chapter. I really HATE when developers do that. But since I have the Collector's Edition, I got a really, really well done and LONG game. Did I mention long? There are only 4 seals to get but in each location you have A LOT of tasks to complete and so it takes quite awhile to finish this game. I'd have to say, it probably took me over 6-7 hours to finish it.
The problem with buying the Collector's Edition is that there are not many extras except the bonus chapter and replaying games & listening to music. There are no collectibles unless you count 15 messages your grandpa left you and I have to say, they are well blended in and I missed the majority of them. Too bad because it advances the story a little more with background. There are no achievements either.
The hidden object scenes in this game were sooo fun and interactive! You have the interactive list of items but the 2nd time you encounter a scene, you have put back the objects and its kind of hard due to smaller items in the scenes. I liked the challenge and I loved the variety but I am a huge fan of putting back the items in general in hidden object games. The puzzles were another great part of the game. There are some that are mind numbingly easy BUT there are also a lot of mini games that are a bit taxing. I loved the mini games and as a puzzle lover, was satisfied with how many there were as sometimes I don't find there are enough. This game was abundant with puzzles. It was awesome.
The map is probably the best part about this game though. If there wasn't a map, this game would probably take you weeks to finish because its not linear. You go to other worlds but you need to visit the original world at the same time so you go back and forth a lot. I played in expert and it didn't have sparkles, hints & skips loaded slowly but not turtle slow. You can turn the map help off by unchecking the box on the map itself. It takes a bit of time to find the map though (I hope I am not mixing this up with another game I just played). Once you get the map though, its a lifesaver!!!
I love this game and rate it 5 stars which is rare for me! I hate that the bonus chapter has the ending but I liked this game enough that I would have bought the collector's edition again even knowing how poor the extras are. That is how good the story line is that I didn't mind not having the extras. The graphics in this game are also stunning! The main character looks real and kind of like the woman in the Art Of Murder Large File Adventure Games series and even walks like her too! The voice overs are done very well in this game too. People actually speak like they are scared or angry instead of monotone.
This is a winner. I definitely recommend. Wait for a BOGO and get this game as the freebie so you won't feel cheated out of the extras. Its worth it, trust me! It also sets the stage for a sequel and I so hope they make it!
BTW...this has vampires, purgatory, the devil, references to good and evil, devil worship, skulls, occult type things and is for adults. IF any of this offends you, you will not like this game. Just a heads up.
I really enjoyed the demo of this game because it was a different concept even though it was basically about child abductions. I liked the weeping woman story line as I have heard the myth before and thought it would make for a good storyline...But boy was the story line dumb and boring!!
This is one of the easiest games I have ever played! Sometimes I like easy games but this one was so easy it was boring. The mini games were simplistic and the hidden object scenes were mildly interactive but everything was sooo easy to spot. Just clicking around gave you all the items...a total no brainer.
There are collectibles. Morphing flowers & skulls to find. I found most of them but they are extremely easy to spot, I just got bored and stopped clicking on them. There are achievements, the usual fare of no hints on hidden objects and no skips on mini games as well as game related ones and some others.
On first glance I thought this game was going to be great! Usually games based on myths are really really good. In fact I wish developers would make more games about urban legends and/or myths, greek mythology. However this game is not up to par in terms of game play and what I consider a fun game. I prefer games with more thinking but if I like an easy game, its usually because of the plot and although this game started out strong, the plot became sooo awful! And the ending is so bad! You get a complete ending but I wish they had left a cliffhanger because that way your imagination would be better than the ending you get! Just a dumb ending to a dumb game. (btw I am not saying anyone is dumb if they found this game hard or liked it, I just happen to think the game itself is...)
I finished the main game in 2.5 hours doing all the puzzles and not skipping any dialogue! I attempted the bonus chapter which has a plot line completely unrelated to the main game and when I heard what the main character was asking me to do, I almost wished that the main game had been about this instead of the plot we get. The bonus game is about some random person's daughter who gets romanced by the devil himself or just a vile handsome man as they put it who seduces women with his powers and makes them lovesick and then comes back to kidnap them later. That sounded a whole lot better than the main storyline! However the bonus chapter was sooo easy too and I couldn't take anymore and quit playing the game.
So it took me 2.5 hours for the main game and I did not play the bonus chapter all the way through so maybe its a 3-3.5 hour game if you are lucky.
I was going to rate this game 2 stars but there are other games out there that are worse. This game has nice graphics, nice voice overs and ones that are better than 5 star games!), not too many hogs but not too few either. I never felt like it wasn't made well. So I rate it 3 because some people will probably love this game BUT it was run of the mill for me. The level of challenge made it boring and the story line didn't keep my interest either.
Hard to believe this is by the same developers who did the Small Town Terrors Series! The second one in that series is one of the best games I have ever played! Better Luck Next Time devs!
I liked this game and would have given it 5 stars had it not had sooo many boss battles. You can skip them, yes, but I thought it took away from the game because near the end and in the bonus chapter you play a lot of these type of games and if you answer wrong, it slams the screen like when you get a penalty in hidden object scenes for clicking too much. I found this feature to be a turn off and although interesting and different, I did not care for it.
Mad Head Games have the most interesting games in my opinion. They are not cookie cutter and invent the new things that other developers end up copying. It seems that this developer never does the copying though and that is what makes it a joy to play their games. All the soundtracks, mini games and hidden objects are cleverly done and all their games seem to have that special factor that is missing in so many other games that are just churned out.
There are A LOT of achievements to collect in this game and not just the usual fare of game related or find 5 objects in 5 seconds type. There are collectible acorns but also morphs in the bonus game. I like how the icon on the left corner lights up when you have found the collectible so you don't have to guess if you missed one where the freak it is. Had I been more into the boss battles, I would have been able to get most of the achievements but once I started skipping those my need to get every achievement dwindled since it wasn't possible without completing them. I did do the first couple but I hated what happened when I answered wrong.
Although I loved the storyline in the beginning as time went on, I found it to be rather weird and Im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. Im not really into children related mysteries or abductions and this ties into both of those elements. It did have an unexpected plot line though which is nice for a change. It does wrap up completely in the main game although you never really find out what happens after you save the day. Thats not a spoiler because in EVERY game you are somehow saving the day. The bonus game wraps up what happened after and puts you into the town when it was light and beautiful not dreary and scary like the main game. I liked the contrast but I was quite bored by the bonus chapter.
Although this game had a ton of achievements, collectibles, a terrific strategy guide as it actually showed you the hidden object scenes and where things are ( a lot of other games don't and its annoying if you are stuck and want the no hints achievement especially when its well hidden butterflies!), I liked the first one better and other games by this developer better in general. I give it high marks because its a unique game not like most cookie cutter developers out there and it deserves to be recognized for all that it offers. For most people I think they would LOVE it but I have played too many of these games and it takes a lot to impress me lol This game is impressive though and mad head games deserves a round of applause for not copying others and making the most original games out there. Kudos.
I gotta say that in terms of the Mystery Trackers series, some of them I absolutely love while others of them I absolutely hate. The original Raincliff is my favorite one and it was a nice surprise to return to it. The original one is better, longer and kept my attention better but this chapter was not without its merits.
I would recommend the standard edition only because the bonus wasn't necessary and added a few parts that made me scratch my head at the story although I did complete it all and I usually never finish bonus chapters. The collectibles are morphing frogs and I somehow missed ONE. Ugh how it irks me lol There are the usual fare of achievements. But the main story ends satisfactorily without the bonus chapter.
Elephant's games are always so beautiful. The scenery, the music, the overall game experience. They seem to be the only games I ever finish all the way through and this one was no exception. The voiceovers were well done. The hidden object scenes were interactive but not overly done like some other developers do. I was able to do every single puzzle in the whole game without skipping. I love puzzles.
In the MCF series, they implemented pictures that you receive and then you put over the same exact spot as the picture and it opens up things. Well you do this in this game but only 1 picture at a time instead of 5. They open up secret places to advance the game. I liked the way it flowed.
There is a feature in this game that is new at least to me. Since its freezing in Raincliff and you are in the snow, you have a thermometer that shows you how hot or how cold you are. If the thermometer falls below a certain temperature, it alerts you that you need to find something to warm you up before you can keep going. These things are usually in the scene you are in or nearby. Once you find this item, you can continue on with your game. However if this bugs you, you can turn off this option. I played with it on because I liked having something different.
You also have Elf. I know most people love him but he bugs me and Im a dog lover lol You only use him a handful of times and he didn't seem to whimper like in other games so it was a more pleasant experience than others in this series.
I enjoyed playing this game as I do most Elephant Games. I like when Elephant sticks to their own series instead of doing other developers old ones. Thats when Elephant really shines. Kudos!
OMG I couldn't even finish this one and Im like one chapter away from being done! Talk about a yawner! I really like this series too so I am not really sure why this one bores me so much. Maybe because its just like every other game...
There are puzzle pieces to collect, morphing objects but they are soooo easy to spot so it makes it not a big challenge. I think I played the last game in this series as a standard edition and enjoyed NOT having the collectibles so maybe I should always get the standard lol
There are A LOT of hidden object scenes and all of them are the SAME! You can do a matching game but its boring after the first few! They are mildly interactive and I so hoped there would be variety considering how many of them they are and some you visit twice!!!
There's the usual fare of achievements and play based ones that no matter what you'll get. YAWN
I did enjoy the mini games...well the ones that weren't super easy. Although most were but occasional ones made me think for a minute. I like the challenges. Im sick of all these easy peasy games! Can't someone make a challenging puzzle? Im sure there are people out there like me that would LOVE a challenge!!! & putting it on hard is not what I mean!
This story line is quite boring. It was predictable and slow. I don't mind the imp because he's part of the story line and always has been but this time he seemed a bit more in the way. He moves on your dashboard & if you click on something..the cursor will automatically turn into a green imp circle and he'll jump up. I would have loved to actually put him there instead of being told what to do.
I made it to almost completing this game but I just can't take another second!! I really liked it at first and would have gave the demo 5 stars but thank god I waited! Soooo Boringggg. A little more variety please if you are going to have sooo many hidden object scenes and so little else to do besides stick bas reliefs in things to open them...
A poor offering in a series I usually love...I don't recommend.
I LOVE this series but this game is off in left field...I was going to give this game a 5 star rating halfway through because the Hidden Object Scenes and Puzzles are sooo fun! They are unique and special to Orneon games who I wish released more games because they have a style all their own and its great. However, I think this game would have been better under a different title and not part of this series because it has nothing to do with previous installments.
The hidden object scenes are so original like most Orneon games. Orneon was the first game company to give us "put the object back in its place" type scenes and this game has improved upon them in great fashion. Also, the mini games are original and it has story book hidden object scenes that are beautifully done and give something special to the game. For these two reasons alone, I am giving the game high marks but other factors decrease its beauty.
There are 32 collectibles to find which are pretty easy and they are used to play a mini game in the extras section if you find all of them. The game wraps up completely in the main game and the bonus is an alternate ending so its really not needed. I didn't play it because by that time I was over the stupid plot and the girl Mira that you are helping but she also helps you.
There are no cutesy helpers but MIra helps you. However she is a character in the game, not some item you throw over a spot to help you reach things. You are a human but also a wolf and have an armband that lets you switch between each one. I thought it was so dumb that your armband can break and then trap you as a wolf so you have to make new ones along the way. Seriously? How is that even possible? Each chapter of the game has a new area and you always find a new map. I kind of liked the idea but if you miss a collectible then you cannot go backwards also it made the game very linear.
So hidden object scenes and puzzles had my full attention and I loved each one of them. The story line was boring, Mira was annoying especially since she demands you find her new clothes in some scenes and her voice is dreadful. The healer wolf storyline makes no sense and the things you have to do because of it are intriguing at first but then get unreal. Like since your a wolf, you don't need a shovel to find buried things, you can dig for them. But you can also use your wolf paws to do things that are not logical and should have to switch back to human form.
I hope there is another one in this series but that it reflects past installments and that this one is just left alone. I also hope Orneon releases more games this next year with better plots.
I rated this game 3.5 stars but did not round up because its not worth the 4 star rating. For a game that had such fun elements, its sad that the rest of it was so off kilter. Please more hidden object scenes and puzzles like this but a better storyline!
If you are going to buy this, get the standard edition.
It should have been a tremendous achievement, but the tunnel through the Ridge of Leviathan became the site of a great disaster. What really happened that day?
Oh I loved this one! Had it been a standard edition, I would have 5 starred it! It has a satisfactory ending that you don't need a bonus game for and tons of puzzles ranging from easy to a little challenging. The hidden object scenes are sooo fun! I actually wish there had been more of them! To do the hidden object scenes you have to pick up items in the main game that are then put into the interactive bits of the hidden object scenes to get the object. Make sense? There was only one hidden object scene that I didn't have the items for and had to go search around again but it didn't bother me.
But for a Collector's Edition... I would have rated this 3.5 stars but I am rounding up due to the fact I had fun playing it and overall its a good game. I didn't care for the extras which is a Pantheon simulation thing you open by finding the HUGE flowers which are the collectibles. Seriously there is no challenge here. They are on the notes too so you better at least open them :) I really dislike the flowers you find because its not a challenge at all. There are achievements, the usual like 3 objects in 3 seconds, 5 in 5 seconds, 10 in 10 seconds which I can never do lol Not skipping puzzles etc yawnn..
The bonus chapter was not necessary at all and quite a yawner. I quit it halfway through not understanding why this woman would do what she did especially after all she went through!
The best thing about this game was the voiceovers especially for the lead woman you play. Usually when the voiceovers are done, the people are very monotone. This woman had emotion like you felt her pain at losing her daughter and husband. She had a lot of narrative which kind of annoyed me in parts but she was heartfelt so it helped me stay entwined in the game. I really enjoyed this game because of it. Bad voiceovers can really ruin a game especially one like this.
I really enjoyed this game and the previous one, The Soaring City. I am not a huge fan of this series however since I disliked the first two. The first two were chaotic and hard to navigate but this game made sense and was easy to figure out what to do next even after leaving and coming back. The first two surface games if I left the game and came back I had no idea what I had to do as there was soooo much game and sooo many areas. Maybe they were pre-map lol
A good game but skip the collector's and get the standard. The extras & bonus game are not worth the extra money. Overall a great game though. Kudos Elephant :)
