I enjoyed this game and took some time to finish it. Some of the mini games were unfamiliar to me and quite challenging. Some were very easy. The biggest problem I had was simply that I never got into the "rhythm" of the game. By that I mean I was never sure what to do next most of the time. There is a map and liberal hints. I referred to them multiple times to finish the game. I'm usually a pretty good player so this surprised me. I have nothing bad to say about this game other than it didn't flow for me. I knew this fact while playing the demo but just thought I was distracted. Anyway, good luck if you buy it. There is quite a lot to do before you finish.

This reminds of the free game "Found". You keep replaying levels and try to proceed. It doesn't cost anything to play once you buy it but that's not the problem. There are several areas that become available as you play and accumulate points. There are also some "events" you can complete throughout gameplay.
Each location area needs to be repeated until you complete a total of 150 points which are earned at 3 points per interaction. If you don't complete things within the timer you may only earn 1 or 2 points. It gets pretty old after 4 or 5 replays even though the missing objects get moved around. The scenes remain the same and once you learn the patterns of where things are hidden it gets boring.
My major objection is the fact that there are parts of the game I can't make work. "Events" come up in little windows and the game won't let me open them. Also, I have completed all the areas I can and the "event" that lets me trigger the next level will not come up. I have tried the various forums and this is how I know what comes next. Other people are having the same problem and so far there doesn't seem to be a fix. Reloading doesn't work. What is really frustrating is that some people have been able to play to the end.
So I will be uninstalling it, unfinished and finding something more fun. Maybe they will fix it sometime in the future but for now it is incomplete and has some glitches.
I don't recommend this game.

This game had it all for me. Even in the easiest mode I had to work to figure it out. Fortunately there is a map because I would have gotten lost with all the jumping around it does. It is a long play with lots of different challenges. Some of them I have never seen before. None of the HO scenes are terribly hard but I didn't always know what to do with the objects when I found them. Sometimes my inventory got pretty big before I could piece it all together. There is combining of objects to get what you need to complete a task.
The basic storyline is not terribly new. Evil witch like spirit captures loved ones and you have to save them. It took me a while to think like the developers. Hints are there if you get stuck. You have a helper for tasks that are too heavy for you or you can't reach them.
The hero is an artist and he has to paint things as he goes. Sometimes you have to guess what colors and sometimes you have a guide to follow. Part of the game involves getting all the different paintbrushes in your inventory. You must find the purple brush for example. You cannot combine red and blue to get purple.
I played this for a long time and it was worth the price. A very well done game. The theme was a little dark and distorted so play the demo if you are unsure.
I recommend this game!

Demigods
Embark on an epic journey through the ancient world in this stunning time-management adventure!
This game was fun for many replays. There are 40 levels to play. It is populated with many of the mythical features of Greek or Roman lore. Basically you run obstacle courses to make various Gods happier. Something has upset their world and the young Demigods problem solve to get things back on track. There are 3 levels of play, one of which is untimed so no pressure if you wish. There is a fun little backstory if you wish to follow it. Sometimes you have to explore where to go next as there are tunnels and outlets across the board from where you might feel stuck. There is a simple restart if you need it. I had a blast learning the game and how to make it flow. If you do things in the wrong order the game slows down but is still playable. If you get your priorities straight the levels go pretty fast. The only negative I found was a glitch in loading levels. Sometimes it would freeze and require a Ctrl/Alt/Del to get out of it. On the next try it loaded. The game play never froze, just the loading of the next level.

What made this most difficult for me was the fact that it was visually dark. It was more than difficult to find objects at times because the background was dark and hard to examine. I had to use hints to find things, not something I usually have to do. I am spoiled by some of the newer games that have maps and this does not. There is quite a bit of remembering required. Sometimes when you get a hint it fails to tell you that you must complete some task first. This is best found out by checking the objectives often. It saves a lot of running back and forth between screens.
I originally played this game when it was first published and have gone back to it. I am not enjoying it as much as I would like but only because of the above mentioned (IMO) flaws. Even in the casual mode I am frustrated frequently having to use hints.
This is a worthwhile game if you can look past the dark visuals. Lots of challenges, good mini puzzles, and it plays for a long tome.

I had to restart this twice before I finally got rolling. I liked the first version of HERO so I thought it would be similar. There isn't a tutorial which is why I restarted because I cornered myself and couldn't advance. It took some time to acquire skills I easily found in the first HERO. There is a map so you can jump around. It was sometimes hard to remember where I could buy items or sell items. Vendors are both scattered around and concentrated in the city. There are caves and underground scenes and the only way to clear them is constant clicking. Some of the clues are very small and easily missed the first time around. The underlying theme is to earn lots of money so you can buy what is necessary to complete tasks. Also, you must earn trust stars (fame) so people will talk to you or do business with you. When you hunt or fish, it does not seem like the resource renews over time. In truth, this has been a little more challenging than I like. I tend to play to laugh or to relax, which is not happening for me with this game. I understand it, I just don't want to work that hard.

This story is not terribly unique, grandfather died and granddaughter carries out his work. There is no map so if you become stuck on where to go next you must use a hint. There are silhouette puzzles, traditional HO objects, and some puzzles where you have to figure out what the objects fit with the clue shown.
I found the game to be fairly hard, not so much the tasks but making things fit together. Some of the objects need to be built or combined to make them workable. If you don't click in the right place, the game tells you that it is wrong. It may actually be right but you don't know that.
The explanations for the mini games are sometimes a bit vague and a couple of them caused me to skip simply because I never did figure out what was needed to win. I am an experienced player so it is not like I don't know most of the tricks.
If you can deal with these annoying glitches this is a well structured game. The art work is very good but I can't comment on the sound as I never listen. This is a long game and should keep you busy for quite a while.
I really like this sort of game. That said, I found this a little more challenging that I bargained for. I have played the Royal Envoy series and the Viking Sagas over and over. This game is more difficult than those two series. I am a casual player that doesn't life to play timed games anymore. If I had paid attention to the timer on this game I would have been in the basement on my scores. Fortunately, the game does not quit when you are out of time.
The tasks are interesting and build on each other. You need to build and produce lesser products to combine into more complex products. There is only one level of upgrade so if you aren't producing enough basic products you have to build more. This can be a problem because there aren't always enough spaces and you frequently have to destroy something to make room.
When you are collecting your products, you have to click on a small symbol to get the building to spit out the prize. When you go to actually pick up the prize it is just a sweep. So there is a lot of clicking to keep moving in the game.
If you are an intense gamer that likes a lot of clicking and jumping around to succeed, you will probably will enjoy this game. If you don't want to work that hard, this is not the best game for you.
I realize this is a "free" game but it grinds to a halt unless one is willing to keep buying more and more diamonds. There are tasks to perform to obtain puzzle pieces. Some of the tasks require one puzzle piece and others require several pieces to be combined to satisfy a task. I am at level 18 and I am about ready to quit.
You can buy the objects if you get stuck but that costs diamonds. Diamonds are VERY hard to come by and it is not really an option to earn them in the game. The pay out to earn diamonds dribbles in in amounts of a few at a time. I made a small investment and purchased some diamonds but they go fast if you decide to use them. Often you have two or even three characters searching for the same object. It takes FOREVER to earn that number of objects in regular game play.
You keep doing the same puzzles over and over again, HOS. They are very well done but now it is just plain boring. I haven't even made it to the second island yet and there is lots of game left. I am just plodding along and will quit when my purchase of diamonds runs out. The game itself is not hard, just advancing within the game is hard. Color me gone.
I played the Arizona Rose game with the pirate theme and really enjoyed it. This one is similar in that it plays with the same rules with a few exceptions. Those exceptions make it more difficult, and at times frustrating to master.
When you have a row or column with repeats, it doesn't indicate which one you solve when you manage to solve one of the combos. This means if you have a row that has several blocks of 2s, you can isolate a block and the game doesn't tell you where it falls , first, second, third etc.
It takes longer to score the helper icons so you can use one to help you solve a whole column or row. The puzzles to get the helper icons are harder to solve. There is no helper Icon to allow you more misses. If you hit the number of errors allowed, you get booted and must start over.
I'm not saying the game isn't fun, just that it is harder. The story is interesting. The tetris like game has been dropped and replaced by the pipeline game where you have to get a current from point A to B. The fit all the shapes into a mold seems harder to me.
So go for it if you like this sort of game. It will definitely challenge you. I haven't been able to do this one with no errors like I did in the pirate adventure. Maybe if I used the hint buttons and the other icons more often...
