I am having a like/don't like relationship with this game. Parts of it are interesting; others are tedious. Being that it is a SE and I have a free game code nearing expiration I may end up getting it. I'd really like to give it 3.5 stars. Being that I'm so on the fence I'm not saying yea or nay to recommending it.
As with all games - give it a try. You'll either want it or not want it!
I finally finished the entire game and the Bonus chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the storyline behind it. I personally didn't mind the helper dog since it really wasn't used a tremendous amount. The HOPS were well thought out and the puzzles were varied. I skipped a few puzzles after giving them a try (I often do this when I just don't feel like trying that hard). Overall this is one of the better CE's I've purchased lately. As always, try it for yourself. Some will love it; others will hate it. To each their own.
I did not make it through the entire demo - I honestly just got too bored. I had high hopes for this game when I read the description. Unfortunately it did not take long to find myself wishing for more color, less words, and more action. There was just nothing compelling enough to make me want to continue the game.
I do have one question though. If you're the keeper of the portal between two worlds, shouldn't you know what is happening in both worlds before one has been destroyed?
As always, try it for yourself. It may be your "cup of tea".
Number one pet peeve - no untimed option! Not to mention the background is grainy and there is more storyline in the description of the game here on BF than when you start the game.
For the most part I love the Dead Reckoning series. I like the murder mystery without all the gore. The only demons here are the human kind. It took me an hour to get through the demo (which is somewhat unusual for me) and a couple of the puzzles were challenging.
I for one will be buying this one. Try it for yourself. Don't let the reviews (good or bad) be the deciding factor for you. My individual preferences are vastly different than many of the posters that are always found giving their opinions!
I am a fan of Hidden Expedition games. Some are better than others. This one falls into the better category for me.
It took me about 45 minutes to play through the demo but that was with me skipping two puzzles. After watching the way to solve them (one of the things I love about these games!) I'll definitely try them again (because I'm not going to remember the way to do it by the time I replay!)
Looks like this is going to be either a you love it or you hate it game based on the reviews. As I always say, to each their own. I personally like this game and will be purchasing it. I'm glad I don't go off of reviews alone - there are too many games that others have loved that I hate and vice versa.
I managed to play this game for 20 yawn-inducing minutes and finally gave up. In that time frame I think there were 4 puzzles and one HOP. I toyed with 2 puzzles and then skipped them. I just wasn't that excited about them.
Reaching into ghostly "left-over" apparitions to retrieve objects? Seriously?
The challenge of the puzzles is good - I just was too bored to appreciate them.
I simply do not like this game. I've always been on the fence about Mystery Tales. Some I have enjoyed and some not so much. I will not be purchasing this one.
Try it - it may be your cup of tea. I won't be partaking of this pot however.
This is an okay match three game. It definitely reminds me of a weak sister to Silver Tale.
The visuals are not as sharp and maybe they aren't supposed to be. This one has elements of spookiness in it's match elements and what you need to unlock.
For me, it's one of those "I'll get it if I have a free code" games as far as I'm concerned. It's a good way to just chill and play a game.
I have had a love/hate relationship with Grim Facade games. Some I've thoroughly enjoyed and others didn't capture my attention. This one made me want to play until the end of the demo. I'd give this game 4.5 stars if I could.
Good things: Good HOPS; puzzles ranged from easy to I give up for me. I don't have the greatest patience in the world for some types of puzzles so I appreciate the skip button. Storyline has probably been done before but this one didn't make me feel like I'd played the same game from another developer.
Neither good or bad: No helper. I could care less if there is one or not but if you hate them you don't get one. If you like them there wasn't one in the demo. Only one collectible - a rose emblem. I appreciate not having to find 3 things in each location personally.
Bad: Short demo time. I played this demo in 37 minutes. I did skip two puzzles after getting frustrated with them. One of them was I just didn't understand what I was supposed to do. After I saw the finished puzzle I realized what i'd done wrong. The strategy guide does not show how many total chapters there are so I'm concerned about the length of this game.
If I can find out how long this game really is I may buy it as a CE. Otherwise I'll wait for the SE.
I couldn't even make it all the way through the demo - I was soooooo bored! Fire, fire, fire. What I did play really made no sense. Definitely an evil vibe. I mourn the loss of the originality of Puppet Show. I think the developer has taken the arrogance to heart - and we suffer for it.
I gave 5 stars on visual - I don't play with sound therefore I cannot comment on that one.
I always say to those on the fence - try it. It may be more to your liking than to mine. For me - I'm tired of the series and I can't, in good conscience, recommend this game.
