Finally! A new solitaire game that is enjoyable, has some entertainment value and has a casual setting! When I do these kinds of games it's because I want to be mindless - kinda like a zombie! There is some strategy to it - even in casual mode but there really isn't a frustration level - which is what I needed! It's no Seven Seas Solitaire - but it's enough for me to use a free game code on. So, if you want to be mindless - go for it!
The game seems nice enough. When I discovered there was no casual play I knew it was a no go. I don't like timers. Too bad. I might have bought it otherwise. If you don't mind timers then go for it!
I recommend this game!

Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask Collector's Edition
Explore 17th-century France as you track down a masked killer.
I know that many games are based on books, movies, fables, etc. However, I was really hoping for a twist on the idea of the "Man in the Iron Mask". It took about two seconds for me to find out that no, this is the original story turned into a game with the evil dwarf/leprechaun/whatever he is. If you've never seen the movie or read the book then this will be a new storyline for you. If you like the Haunted Legends games no matter what you'll like this one.
The graphics are great. I did not find the puzzles that challenging. Maybe I'm just tired of the "little man" but I will not be purchasing this one. I will recommend at least trying it. Just because I'm jaded doesn't mean it's not a fun game for many!
I feel like I played an entirely different game than the other reviewers. To me the graphics were so-so. I was not taken in by the beginning at all. I don't particular like the pop-up tips and disabled them. However, if you do that then you get no explanation as to what the add-ons do (like the cranes) and the help section is absolutely of no value in that regard. While I do appreciate the three different levels of play, I much prefer a custom setting which allows me more control over time, etc. This is definitely a no-buy for me.
I am, for the most part, a huge fan of the Dark Parables series. I have my favorites and my not so favorites, but I have enjoyed all of them. I particularly like FROGs - putting something together for its use is more fun to me than finding random items that have no bearing on the story. As with most Dark Parable games, some of the mini-games are easy, some are more challenging, and some are rather tedious. That's why I love the skip button.
Is this the best ever Dark Parable. No. Is it the worst in my opinion? No. Are there games out there that other Fishies rave about and I hate? Oh yes. Definitely. For me, this is my kind of game. It may not be the best Dark Parable out there, but it is so much better than a large proportion of the games that have been released by BF lately.
It did not take long to realize this game was old school and very lackluster. I did not make it through the entire free trial - I was bored beyond belief. Whatever happened to the really good M3 games like 7 Wonders?
I play these type games for relaxation. Therefore, I always use the casual option. I turned off the oil and the bombs - no seeping and no losing the level due to non-matching. I like the way that you can collect extra coins and stars for the achievements. If you just want something to let your mind wander this is it.
I had thought this might be okay. Nothing fabulous but something simple. Unfortunately, the execution of the game fell short. When I have to use a hint twice on the same item to try to figure out exactly where I am supposed to click and it still doesn't work? No thank you. The developers obviously didn't have anyone to test this before offering it. Sorry BFG - you didn't do enough homework with this one.
I have played this game for an hour and have made it through 2 chapters. There are 3 chapters available in the demo. According to the strategy guide there are 5 chapters with a bonus chapter.
Pros: Artwork is beautiful. Colors are glorious. The storyline actually has some uniqueness to it. There is a flying tiger which I've not seen before.
Cons: Frustrating at times. You click on an area that has gears yet no hint as to what is needed there. You have to try everything in your toolbox or consult the guide. When the story from the past is told you must have your sound on. There is no closed captioning for it. I rarely play with sound so this was a big irritant.
I found myself using the guide too much because of my frustration level. This game has potential - but I won't be buying it as a CE.
I hate to say I don't recommend a game - but I can't in good consciousness say "buy it".
I enjoy playing games like these but.....there are a few problems in this game. Misspelled words to begin with. Incorrect words for the item. Missing words for items altogether. Gardenscapes 2 was a superior game to this one. I enjoyed this one - just not as much. I played it untimed - so it was relaxing. Is it worth a CE? I don't think so. I wish there was a "I recommend with reservations" button.....
