This is the latest ND game that I played. I am not much into science, glad I bought this with free game coupon. It is not much science as I thought it would be, the graphic is really nice and the fact that it is a murder mystery making it more exciting.
Overall I like most of the aspects of the game. What I dislike is the character. I am sorry but none of them are likable. That includes Nancy. I don't know but I found her character to be annoying in her choice of words. The suspects also are not interesting. They hated each other, and instead of trying to find the solution, they decided not to speak with each other. I am not an English native speaker and how they all talked are confusing to me, seems useless and there are so many choice of conversation topics, but only few really contains useful information. The ending is ok although it is quite obvious who the culprit is.
If you are a fan of ND and science, you might not want to miss this game. If you are into great mystery, the older ND games are much better.

I think this is my first time giving a CE game 2 stars, but I can't help it because I am so annoyed. When I saw this game being sold, I asked myself: another sequel? but because of my good faith to BoomZap and since I like the previous Awakening games, I bought it anyway. I so blame myself for buying this game without trying the demo and so regret it even though I bought it half price.
The story is boring (draggish), the music is boring (almost non existent), the voice over is boring (almost all characters speak as if they are gargling waters on their mouths)... I only like the graphic, which is why I give 3. On Chapter 3, which is super long and draggish, I feel so much like quitting that I decided not to play the game for a few days before playing again, but I always finish any game, so I play again, so that I can finish it quickly. That's how much I really want this game to end. I like the owl and the dragon is cute, but the owl gives no useful hints. The puzzles have very little info on what to do, but there are so many of them in the game. I don't bother with any so I skip everything except if they cannot be skipped. The map is also quite useless, it just shows the place and where we are, but not where there should be things to do. The owl just says, not shows the hint, so it makes the game even more annoying. The Strategy Guide, you have to access from the menu, so I don't bother using it except for checking where I am in the game and whether it will finish soon. Honestly.
I don't care about the extras anymore because they are the same everywhere. I saw there's this "Glasswork" puzzle, but I don't bother with it, because I have had enough with the puzzles in the game itself. I quickly uninstall it as soon as I finished with it. I don't care what will going on later with Queen Sophia and her parents. So sorry, but I just couldn't care anymore.
I saw there's huge possibility of another sequel but I had enough. I don't think I will buy another Awakening game. Four is enough, five is too much, six and above, that's just ripping us off.
I don't recommend this game.

I bought this game simply because I collect all the Haunted Legends series. At first when I saw this game out about 2 months after the previous one, I'm like "wow, ERS is on fire!". Ever since ERS upgrade their game, the graphic is getting better although it is still the washed-out pastel tones for the color. The sound is also better. The storyline, well, not so much. I was hooked on the first two chapters but after the 5th chapter I felt like I wish this game to end soon. It's getting kind of draggish,. The whole ring collection is not exciting as well. I don't see much the connection by collecting the ring, opening 'invisible locks' using the rings, after the 5th chapter I had to use blog walkthrough cos I am getting tired of it. The final ending, is going back to previous ERS games, seems like they want you to buy the CE to find out what's going on. I'm like "huh? that's it?" I played the draggish game for hours to see an ending that's just less than a minute? Truly disappointed with the ending. Anyway I don't feel like playing the bonus chapter anyway so I think me buying the SE is good for now. If you are an ERS fan, you might want to buy it, with credit or on sale.

I think the theme Titanic for a game is just over exploited, all with similar storyline, always the same time machine theme, unfinished business, saving the souls and the like. It's getting tiresome and very predictable. The game graphic is fine, but the music is annoying, I think there's only 2 music in this game, every time repeated. The fact that there is no voice over in this game making it more boring that it already is. The puzzle is very basic, I hate mini games and puzzles in games so I usually skip them, but the ones on this game is really easy I can solve them very quickly. The game is a straight HOS, minute every minute is HOG scene and quite annoying too, the items are random junk and they are put everywhere on the scene, one after the other, and the real scale is weird, tiny clothes for super tiny person?, extra large popcorn? upside down clothes, dresses, bowls.. doesn't make sense. And you don't have to worry of not finding them, simply click on things randomly and most likely you have hit an item in the list. You basically click on every item until about 5 - 10 items are left on the scene. Simple as that. Plus it's hard to really grasp the emotional moment in Titanic if the character graphic is very cartoonish. In a nutshell, I think this game is meant to be passed. If you are a total HOG fan, you might give this a try, but you might want to see why the majority of the reviewers here gave this game a very low rating.
I don't recommend this game.

When I first saw the CE came out, I never would have thought it was made by ERS, their graphic style is changing for the better, with nice puzzles, HOG games and great voice over as usual. I especially like the rabbit. The game story is not the most original, with witch, prince and kidnapping, maybe because of the cute gnome the story changes a bit and it becomes enjoyable. The prince, however looks annoying and kind of lazy, how did he expect a girl to do something else instead and he just waits?! I especially love the end with options, although I don't know what happen if I chose the other option, because I don't want to replay it again just yet. This is kind of differnent than dark, creepy games that many ERS games represent, and everything here is in bright environment. Truly recommended. If you have some money to spare, I would suggest you to try the CE as well.
I recommend this game!

Finally, another game from Alawar! I have been waiting for one for so long. And I am glad it's the second of Stray Soul series. This game is as creepy as the first one, and probably a little bit more. Interface is the same, you have the doll to help you. There are many scenes going back and forth, but it is ok with the map, although it is not so detailed. But for a CE, there is no collectibles, no achievements and just the regular items that you could find in every CE. The game length itself is long, the strategy guide is not bad, but it is not interactive. If you want, you can also wait on the SE, because the bonus chapter doesn't really add much to the story, just flashback story as many CE games do. I rarely give less than 5 stars to any Alawar games, so I might be biased cos I love all their games, but if you are unsure, you can try the demo first.
I recommend this game!

At first I wasn't so sure whether I should buy this game. I had the first in the series but it was way too many HOG scenes so when the second one came out, I skipped it. I tried the demo first before buying this one.All the games in the series seemed to involve a guy character who had to go to military or something, to make it more dramatic and the game will go back and forth between the girl protagonist and the guy's. There are voice overs, but inconsistent, some do, some don't. This game is not only like a regular game with HOG, there are improvements in puzzles, HOG scenes and storyline. Honestly I enjoy this game. As many reviewers have said, the game is quite short, but I don't really bother. The ending was not really as I expect it would be, as always, it is always happy ending. Sometimes I wish it would be different; in reality I don't think this could ever happen, but oh well. If you're tired of dark, creepy HOG games, you may want to try this game.
I recommend this game!

I am very happy to see this game finally being sold in BFG, I have waited for so long as I decided not to buy the game in their official site cos it's twice more expensive. Not only that, the mixed reviews on their site makes me decide to better wait, and I finally got it with free game coupon, so that's really double the deal.
I played this game on Amateur Mode, in a span of 4-5 days. I didn't play continuously, only two hours max each time. Here is what I think about this game:
GRAPHIC: it was pretty good, they are getting better each time. All things look very realistic, I feel like I am really inside the tomb.
CHARACTER: I think none of them are likable. They are arrogant and talk too much. Even the phone friends are boring. Worst, the conversation can't be skipped. There aren't many suspects since there are only 4 on the site and one missing after a while in the game, the rest can be sent to go 'somewhere' and they won't be back for many while so basically you don't really have many people to talk to.
MUSIC: I don't really pay attention to it, but I think it is fine.
PLOT AND STORY: Not really sure why and how. In the very beginning Nancy is thrown into the desert with sand storm, what's up with that? Aren't we there to solve the mystery of the person who attack Dr. Boyle or are we there to solve the Lost Queen? the very beginning was confusing so it was also confusing throughout the game. There are practically nowhere to go in this game except the tomb and the tent. Plus there is no nighttime, Nancy must be a super woman to stand through all the puzzles and heat and finish the game in just "one day". If you stay in Egypt you will surely want to go somewhere or see (at least) the pyramids. Nothing here. Not much snooping involved either. Dry. We have dictionary to translate hieroglyph but to me the translation looks like it was taken from Shakespearean English and I have no idea what it says, and some of them we can't translate. It's funny that Nancy only translates some hieroglyph and ignore others. Unlike other ND games, this game has zero scary factor. No creepiness of going through an Egyptian tomb and the curse. ND breaks all laws of trespassing and it seems fine in this game. Furthermore, you can actually make a phone call during a sand storm, how 'cool' is that??
INTERFACE: The interface changed for the third time. First it was the stack of books, then it was Nancy's room, and now it's the regular game menu. I kind of miss Nancy's room opening because she will have a case file, but not this time. That's why it's confusing on why it just started like that in Egypt. Who is Dr. Boyle? it was not explained until we further 'snoop' into the game. I don't like scrolling horizontally for the inventory. I prefer the arrow left and right. If you are new to ND game, don't worry about items in the inventory that is unused, some of them will be there throughout the game and is only for reference.
MINI GAMES: Wow, talk about exaggeration. This is just way too much. Getting annoying really, one puzzle after the next, and none of them can be skipped, ugh! That's why I can't stand playing more than 2 hours straight on this game because of the amount of puzzles.
ENDING: Huh? Probably one of the most not creative endings in all ND games. Disappointment, just like ND's Creature of Kapu Cave. In the end there are still unanswered things, like the water. Or I maybe don't pay much attention to the convo cos they're so draggish.
EXTRAS: Outtakes.. umm, I don't know exactly what it is, kind of like concept art but only character is portrayed with background narration. What?? The other extra is spoiler for next game and but to me it does not look very exciting. I will buy it if BFG sell it, because I have to collect all ND games.
All in all, if you are an ND games collector, like me, you don't want to miss this one, but if you are looking for a good mystery, try looking for other older ND games. the length is shorter back then but with way better plot and story.

I have doubts to buy this game when it first came out because of the mixed reviews but couldnt resist the 2.99 USD sale last week. I love it when ERS does adventure games, purely, w/o any HOG games. They are actually pretty good! I like it that they use live actors on this one and they did quite a good job in combining them with the game. Sometimes the conversation is a bit off, but at least they speak English. But this game still leaves all the trademark of ERS: wash-out graphics, pastel color, background music, and lots of skeleton. As many other ERS games, they're sometimes a bit gore and disturbing, I esp. dislike the ghost dog. It reminds me of my cousin's dog way back then which is a doberman. It's not a pleasant creature. Seeing it 'attacking people' is not the most interesting sight you will see in the game. But if you can get past all those, this game is pretty good. I dislike the skip and hint button, recharge so very slowly, I think it takes 4 minutes even on Casual mode. I almost turn bonkers. Other than that, this game is good. You might want to give it a try^^
I recommend this game!

I don't usually write reviews for games I don't purchase but this game doesn't impress me much that I feel I have to write it because I don't think I will ever purchase this game, even with a sale. I own the previous 2 Dark Dimension games, the first one, City of Fog, being my favorite. But after that, the game seems to go downhill. "Wax Beauty" has no much relevant storyline, and the graphic seems to change. When this one comes out, I am not excited. When I see the reviews, I feel like I should try this out. Well, I am mostly agree with the negative reviewers here.
First of all, ashes theme? It is okay if they make it unique, not bad guy chasing innocent girl, look like Silent Hill and Pompeii put together here if you know what I mean. The bad guy, hmm, doesn't look bad, he looks annoying. The game is very short, I finish the two chapters demo in just 30 minutes! and I don't even use SG, and I open it just to check to see how many chapters are there for the demo. I can't believe how short this game is. Really not worth the money, I think. The game is super easy, you get an item and use it almost immediately and using them doesn't require much of a thought also. Everything is very clear and straightforward. The HOG scenes are a bit interactive but they don't save this game. The map is okay, but the "I am here" point is way to small it is almost impossible to see. The cut scenes are the one that I hate the most. It loads very very slowly, and there is part where every movement is stop every 3 seconds in my computer. However I dont think it's my machine fault. I play all the newest games and have no trouble at all viewing and loading all the games from the beginning to the end. Because of the loading, the cut scenes are my least favorite part, it is just simply annoying to wait. And the graphic movement is not natural, maybe because of the loading issues, and the girl (on the thumbnail) seems to do nothing but giving us keys. Well, it is okay, but I prefer finding them myself.
Overall, not impressed at all with this game. The developer seems to go downhill with the Dark Dimension series. I have a kind of disappointment playing Wax Beauty and definitely going to skip this one. Maybe when it comes out on SE and if I have a free game coupon I might think twice to get it.
I don't recommend this game.
