Along with many others, I could hardly wait for Paint by Numbers 2, and like the first one, I gobbled it up. In not time at all. :(
While I am just as impatient for Paint by Numbers 3, I am hoping the palette variety is a little closer to the one offered in the original. [https://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/41994/paint-by-numbers/index.html]
For me, the palette in this version was too limited. The first one had a great range of colors, many of which were pastels, making the complex images beautiful to behold. . For the most part, this one only uses oranges, browns, shades of drab green, and maroons. The bright, happy colors are there, but few and far between. Think of the small Crayola box. Though the finished images are very pretty, they lack the nuances of the first Paint by Numbers.
I'd certainly be willing to pay extra for a Collector's Edition containing more of the complex images with a far broader range of colors. I love those. And as I said, I am (impatiently) waiting for Paint by Numbers 3, virtual brush in hand. :)
Welcome to the Any Wish Hotel, where guests don't check out – they simply vanish! You've been called in to investigate a perplexing disappearance. Can you solve the case before you become a permanent guest?
This game was introduced to me in a Flash Back sale.
Frankly, I've seldom seen a game like this. A long, wonderful, can't-put-it-down adventure.
The graphics are great, the challenges are really challenging, the HO call outs are accurate, and the perfect story line and adventure are not interrupted by omissions or add-ins out of left field. The devs paid attention to every detail.
Don't feel bad if you have to use the Hint button more than usual: this game forces you to consider every possible move and in some of the situations, I was forced to give up and click the button. And yes, I was hit with the Duh effect, which forced me to think harder and pay more attention to details.
I bought this one the day it was released and put everything aside to play it all the way through. I was sorely disappointed when it was done.
The Crooked Man and the Crooked Cat is one of those games that come along only every now and then, which is a shame, and if you have been frustrated with the latest games (I know I have) you will be SO pleased that there are few, if any (I don't remember a single one), wrong call outs in the HOS, mini games that don't actually work properly, or disjointed bits of the story, The devs really cared about this game and all of us.
I HIGHLY recommend this game for players of all levels.
At first, I was disappointed by the number of images filled with drab browns, mauves, and greens. Not that they aren't all amazing pictures upon completion, it's just that I was looking for the splashy, vibrant, exciting colors of the psychedelic 70's.
Ah, patience grasshopper. There are plenty of them in the higher levels. ... And, not enough.
Totally addicted to this game, I want more. Now. Today. Shoot, I'll even pay for additional sets of images.
Buyer beware - if you have housework, laundry, or a report that needs finishing, don't even open this game to the first image. None of your duties will get done as you'll be glued to the little numbered areas screaming to be filled with color.
In the next version, I only ask the dev for 2 things - the option to substitute colors (occasionally the background is colored in when it shouldn't be) and the ability to drag color through those little abutting squares. Ye olde carpal tunnel was starting to rear it's ugly head.
This Living Legends episode should be voted as one of the year's best. I really didn't want the game to end.
The artistry is amazing ... actually I have no words that adequately describe the stunning scenery. That alone is worth the price of the game.
The game play is excellent, I was surprised on several occasions and that seldom happens.
The bonus game was given as much attention as the main game, and it paid off. I totally enjoyed playing it.
Not to be outdone, 4 Friends added a little bit more in the Extras. Another surprise.
Already one of the top devs, 4 Friends is well on it's way to first place.
If you're into this genre, you are going to be in heaven. If you're not into this genre and decide to try it, watch out - once you have a taste of the best, it's hard to fall back to the ordinary.
For me, this Spirits of Mystery episode was a must-have game from the get go. Beautifully executed, great game play. Totally captivating.
Being a fan of dark games, the creep factor was point on. The bad guy creatures are a scare to behold.
HOWEVER, whoever scripted the text used ... uh ... the Google translation engine? Nah, the translation wasn't that good. You can tell from the repeated mistakes that the translating was all done by the same person save for a few instances. In the bonus game, this person practically threw the script to the wind, leaving us with only brief notes - the kind you take on the run in High School and college. Not only that, it's pretty obvious that this person doesn't even speak his own language very well. No idea what that was all about. Like putting cheap carpeting and vinyl seats in a Rolls Royce. Just plain horrible.

On seeing today's title, Reflections of Life, I immediately groaned, thinking I was to be blasted with mind numbing purple and green. Not the case at all. No screaming purple or neon over-the-top green. The artist went for amber this time, a lovely golden shade of it.
For some of us who have played a gazillion such games, the ploys may seem only more of the same, like the lens gizmo that breaks every time you use it, but overall I enjoyed the game play and will buy the game tomorrow after chores are done as a small reward for a job well done.
I recommend this game more for beginners and intermediates than for experts and veteran game players.
For those of you new to Haunted Legends, the recurring character is a miserable little miscreant named St. Germain. While his backstory, which explains how he became what he is today, is sorrowful and shouldn't happen to anyone, his persistence in chasing evil is by his own choice to regain his former stature and good looks.
To those of us who collect Haunted Legends, his presence can become tiresome; nonetheless, the game play is such that the nasty little imp can be ignored.
I played the demo and enjoyed it thoroughly and am buying the game. While the opening gambit is always the same, it hardly matters once past the assignment of the mission and gaining access to the person who needs our help.
I recommend this game, especially if this is your first foray into Haunted Legends. I know you'll have a good time. Oh, right - and the mini games are a lot of fun.
First off, NO WORLD DOMINATION - YAAAY! NO INCREDIBLY UGLY CHARACTERS - YAAAY!
This game is just pure fun. The difficulty level is just right; I think I used the first hint in scene 4. The colors are bright and cheerful despite the drama, the puzzles are fun, it has morphies and collectibles, which I always enjoy, and altogether, I'm having a wonderful time playing the game.
The story line, while not original, is a good one with excellent replay value.
I've only played the demo and am waiting to see if BF will bundle the game tomorrow so I can pick up Shadowplay: Harrowstead Mystery as well, which came out a few days ago.
Go ahead, play the demo. I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I have.

I stopped doing demos before buying the games in this series, 'cause they're all a lot of fun. I just automatically hit the buy button. Whether it's a Park adventure or Cruise adventure, they're great to just zone out with.
A CE though? If it means longer game play with more locations, then yeah - I'm all in, but wallpaper and music aren't my thing and are not incentives to pay the extra price. I'd wait for the Standard Edition if this episode wasn't bundled, as I have other games I can't wait to play.
I'd tell you may current favorite in the box below, but it's the upcoming Dark Parables: Portrait of the Stained Princess, which I just beta tested. Be on the lookout for it 'cause it's gonna be a must-buy!
