Like others have said, the items in this game are very hard to find, some almost invisible, some extra small. I used the hint meter a lot, if there are extra steps to finding the item, the meter will not help you. The characters are cartoon, not very well done. You do make a lot of money, but there is nothing to spend it on. The music is adventurous, not bad. There are several locations to each place you go to find the treasure, play each one 2 times so you will get 100% on your score. Other than that, there's not much to say about this game, it could/should have been better, had potential, but it's like the makers cheaped out on making it. I forced myself to finish it so I could delete it. I feel bad about giving it a bad review, because of the potential the game has, but it was just very badly made. All ages could play it, but I cannot recommend it. So sad! :(
I don't recommend this game.

I really enjoyed the first Virtual Families, so I bought the 2nd one as soon as it was available for p.c. It is pretty slow, the family takes a very long time to make enough money to buy anything. The wife I have is SO lazy, she doesn't like to work and she only makes $1.00 when she does! The music is still soothing, not the same music, but still a calming sound. I guess the challenge for me is having to be patient enough to wait for them to have enough money to buy anything, and there is plenty to buy, furniture, work upgrades, new rooms to add on to the house, food, clothes, pets, flooring, and more. But until your family has gone through several generations, like 2, 3, 4....you are not able to buy some things. This too can try your patience. I think once I get more generations in the home, things will get better, just have to let their start in life be slow, I don't think the first 2 generations will have much of anything cause by the time they have earned enough $$, they will probably die! The characters do look different and they stare at you constantly when they are doing anything! I don't care for that, and I liked the look of the first VF people more. The yard is much smaller, the house much larger, the renovations are quite expensive, from about 700 and into the 1000's. I think I still will enjoy the game, it is totally family friendly, but requires MUCH patience, so if your looking for a fast paced, energetic game, you probably won't like this one. I like both fast and slow paced games depending on my mood. Like another reviewer stated, just relax, sip a cup of coffee, tea, or soda and comfy up with this sweet, cozy family game. One other thing, there has been a small problem with movement of the cursor which I too have, that when you need to click something on the side or bottom of your screen, the cursor will jump back to the center of the screen, so be careful to just click on the edge. Some with this problem say if they play in windowed screen this does not happen, but I happen to like to play in full screen, so hopefully they will fix this glitch. Also, in the shopping screens, there is no rolling the mouse wheel to see the page, you have to left click and drag. Kind of a bother. But I will continue on! Have fun with this one!!
I recommend this game!

This game's graphics are horrible, grainy and distorted. You can hardly make out what the hidden objects are and most of them are so well hidden, it ends up being frustrating instead of fun. Also, some of the objects are things that I have no idea of what they are!! Hints are pretty limited, you have to find the jack-o-lantern in each scene to get a hint, use them wisely because when you run out and can't make a chapter in time, you have to do the WHOLE chapter again! The sound effects and music are nice and spooky, with a dark gravely voice giving you warnings. There isn't really a storyline, kind of just gives you characters from the headless horseman story to.... investigate? Not real sure, for example, you get a picture of Brahm Bones, then go to different places to play the h.o. scenes. Puzzles are inside the h.o. scenes, pretty easy puzzles. The colors of the game are mostly greens and grays, with a lot of brown mixed in, pretty dark, guess you could say "gloomy", which would be fine if the objects were not so distorted and "blobby" looking. I will definitely be uninstalling this game after I force myself to finish it.
I don't recommend this game.

This game is set in a western setting, colorful characters, good music, nice colors for "out west". The h.o. scenes are quite challenging even tho they show pictures of what they want, items are very well hidden. Find all the sheriff's badges for bonus and shoot bandits that pop out on the screen for extra hints. Mini games in between levels are easy. Not too much talking by the hired sheriff, all other dialogue is read, there's not too much of that. The graphics are a little on the "cartoony" side, but the game is very cute, I thought "this is a great family game" (which as of late, there are not too many of those), THEN........at the saloon scene there is a female character with her dress so low it leaves nothing to the imagination. It's very inappropriate for kids. So much for sharing it with the kids! WHY did they feel the need to ruin the game by showing a half naked girl!? That totally was not called for and now I can't share this with the kids! I don't know if the other games in this series will have such scenes, I'm not sure if I want to buy them now, or not! I will not assault the kid's eyes with this and I know there are other players that feel the same way as I do. This was such a cute game up to there!!! I only recommend to older players who are not insulted by such unnecessary graphics.
I don't recommend this game.

This 2nd edition was as bright and colorful as the first Christmas Wonderland. It will make you want Christmas to hurry and come, the h.o. scenes are very full, so can take you some time to find all the hidden objects. You look for items on the bottom list as well as hidden candy canes and a toy santa in every scene. Hint button can be a little slow to refill. Also included to find are objects from the Nativity Scene which are located on the top of your screen by the candy cane count and the santa count. I found myself scouring the screen for them, but later found out they are included in your current list of objects to find, so you don't have to do that. Also, when they want you to find a "cracker", they are not talking about food, it's a "firework" type of cracker. This game is very easy, especially the puzzles in between, which are more for a kindergarten age. Not much Christmas music, except in between scenes, the music while on the h.o. scene is repetitive and kind of annoying. I guess you can say the storyline is to help santa get ready to deliver presents on Christmas, very simple. A
bright, pretty game, full of scenes of a beautifully decorated home, mall, and pretty snow falling outside. I would recommend for all ages.
I recommend this game!

This game is such a refreshing break from all the dark, heavy, and mostly sinister games that have been coming out. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of those, but this is just a clean, truly family friendly game with crisp, clear graphics and a clean story line. The story goes from the family's home to the airport, and onto the whole trip they are taking. Mostly hidden object with puzzles in between. Colors are bright and vivid, although there are no voice overs, you can read along, which is fine. Music is upbeat, if not a little too repetitive, but you can adjust the sound. Challenge wise, it is very easy, even for younger players, but I am having a lot of fun playing too. If you are looking for a deep, lengthy drama with morphing objects and a vast array of special effects, you should pass this one up. If, on the other hand you just want to have some clean, family friendly fun, this may be just what you're looking for. I hardily recommend this game for all ages.
I recommend this game!

This game does have some good challenges, but the tower that you make the matches in is very small and sometime the icons are hard to click on to make the match. I like that it has many power ups, but their use is not explained real well and to get them you have to be at a pretty high level. Did not like the music, very repetitive soundtrack that could get tiring very fast. Not much of a storyline, you are defending your tower....... I think after playing Puzzle Quest 2, I have been spoiled. Now there is an awesome match 3 game with incredible graphics and power ups! Great storyline, music, colors, and challenges. If you like Tower of Elements, I highly recommend Puzzle Quest 2. It is an excellent game set in a township where you have vendors to buy weapons and such from, there are many quests and you go into an awesome castle to fight by taking turns with your enemy in a match 3 game. Sorry, Tower of Elements just is not the same. I don't mean to say it's horrible, just giving my review, and sharing what I think is a better game than this one.
I don't recommend this game.

This game started out quite nice, beautiful artwork, lovely music.......then it became frog mire! There are ssoooo many fragmented object scenes I could not wait for the game to be over! If you read chocpeng's review, I mostly agree. But to me, the musical sound track was beautiful, hauntingly so. Too bad that was the best part of the game (for me). If you love frogs, you will like this game, but there were so many you had to keep going back to over and over, some of the objects so hidden, if like me, you don't like to use hints, it will take you a very long time to find some of them, as they are either buried under something or unidentifiable. Some are not the same color as the picture they show of the object. Very frustrating! The storyline is o.k., kind of a twisted love story, if you don't pay close attention to you can get confused by it. The in between puzzles are o.k. too, but even they repeat themselves, like the game maker couldn't think of anything else to put in. The bonus chapter in the c.e. is also just o.k., only 3 rooms to go in, again HUGE amount of frogs!!! The extra puzzles you unlock are only 2 of the boring puzzles that were in the game. There were 20 morphing objects, but all they were for was to fill the hints faster, so they did nothing for me. I can only recommend this game if you LOVE frog games, it is NOT a hidden object game, (which after playing this game,I could not wait to get back to!)

This h.o. game is ssooo Halloween, colorful, cute, and fun. It is mostly just hidden objects with puzzles of various types thrown in. The ambiance is great, the mall decorated with Halloween goods, the street scene full of people with costumes on, businesses and homes decorated like a Halloween wonderland. And a very "Halloweeny" decorated amusement park you'll wish you could visit. The objects are not too hard to find if you have the patience to mouse over everything slowly, find the hidden Dracula in every scene, and click on pumpkins that pop up in the scenes for extra points. As for the glitch on clicking, I only found it after a scene as you are trying to go to the next scene, the trick here is to wait until your score numbers are done showing you the score you got for that scene, then click on "continue" to go on to the next scene. Hopefully, they can fix this because it is a very cute, fun game for Halloween lovers. And if you are looking for an object that is hidden, just mouse over the scene slowly until your arrow turns into a magnifying glass, then click there, your object will show up. As for the storyline, it's just two kids having fun on Halloween, nothing wrong with that. The music is "spooky", fun style though, a family friendly game, easy to play, just a game to have fun and relax by. I recommend it, if like me, you love Halloween.
I recommend this game!

There were some improvements on this 2nd edition of this game; an extra storage plate and the help of a microwave oven was nice. The music and sounds were cute and made the game fun. There were a couple of things I did not care for, this game did not have the "extra" ketchup for money ,unless the customer orders it, unlike the first one where you just automatically got it, and in order to get the gold status, you had to get a certain number of smiley faces. This was difficult to do in some scenes because the customers take too long to order and eat, and by the time they leave, the time is up even though you got all the orders done, so you miss out on the smiley. This seems not fair since you are done and there is nothing left to do but wait for the customers to leave and give you the smiley face.Other than that, I enjoyed the game. Good for all ages, bright cheerful colors, nice change from the dark gloom and doom games. (I still like some of them tho!)
I recommend this game!
