The graphics are gorgeous; most voice over was wonderful [especially the male voice actors were 'believable and in keeping with the script of a Japanese tale] which unfolded into a nice storyline [for a change]; and appeared to me that the entire game was created with cultural respect and enlightenment in mind [again, more family themed versus strictly adult, yet I enjoyed it completely].
Yes it is very different from the as per usual here.... and that's a good thing in my experience of late.
Low key and lovely.... this game is for a quiet afternoon or tired night when you want a calm, gentle story to end the day.
I enjoyed it very much.... filled with puzzles and varied HOP.

Using pretty, stylized Christmas graphics, throwing in snow & decorations does not a Christmas tale make.
The first narrator was good, the balance of the voice acting I didn't care for especially the main character's voice. As for visuals, they were were excellent, overall sound was in keeping with the game, yet there was no 'Christmas" tale here IMHO, Hans Christian or otherwise.
It felt more as though I was more watching a cartoon rather than playing a "Christmas" themed game as it had literally no 'substance' that would deem it in that category and, in addition, what storyline was there was lost in too much busy kookiness.

Despite my initial cringe when seeing this game presented as the soft release [and the name alone was enough to dissuade me, lol] I was so desperate for a 'good' game, I decided to demo it anyway...
"Psycho Train" is a casual adventure game with very light H0P and a paranormal themes [not overt & the adventure aspects of the game are designed to be the thrill versus any bells and whistles].
So... there are no super 3D, overly embellished ADD type graphics; there ARE well hand-drawn quality graphics without excess; again, emphasis on gameplay versus flash.
As a matter of fact, 'without excess' could actually describe just about most features that make up this game.... from the content to the music with it's very low-key score in the background, text versus 'voice overs'... [& in this case they really aren't needed to draw you in and, I will add, some games with v/o actually can take away from the game because of annoying voice character acting]. The adventure-heavy gameplay, journal and nicely done queues all are enough to be immersive. Oh... one of the key features that stood out for me was the super excellent use of sound in this game... very well done!
Definitely check this one out if you enjoy casual adventure and need an easy 'fix' between block busters [which, let's face it, we've been quite lacking in that respect for awhile anyway].

Hmm... this game consists of recycled graphics from previous games x2... similar if not exact music from the solitaire Halloween game just offered by them (which also had the recycled graphics from a H0G pc game) and overall an extremely simplified and unforgiving game mechanic.
I own most of the games by this developer and this is just not on par. For my gaming dollar, I expect a much better presentation than this... please raise the bar back to your 'usual' standards.

Perfect little solitaire game to play to get in the mood for this All Hallow's Eve and especially while waiting for the tricksters [err... trick or treaters] to ring the bell since it's not too involved.
Loved the music & great graphics for this basic one up/down- play solitaire.... thanks developers [have enjoyed almost every one of this developer's games!]

In the deluge of dark and dismal, along comes Scarlett, a young and successful author struggling to finish her book and settle in to her newly acquired mansion. Scarlett has spent much of her savings on the mansion and now wishes, with your help, to refurnish it by selling 'junk' from the mansion [oh, & don't expect reality with items nor their prices that you will sell, lol]. Low and behold along with community figures, our familiar 'old' friend, Austin [the butler from previous games] also appears in the game on the sidelines as one of her new neighbors. I'm guessing that perhaps his appearance may be a sneak preview for future game development with both characters featured?!... hope so! :}
SO despite my initial CE review which didn't get as glowing of a rating by me, I am upping my rating for the SE since I believe the price and content of Manor Memoirs as a package is much more in line versus the CE, even though I ultimately purchased the CE on special and happy that I did. Thus, I am suggesting the CE at a good sale price if you are interested in a bit longer gameplay.
Ultimately it becomes a fun, addictive game, and very enjoyable [especially if you enjoy games whereas you are allowed to design a structure or area to your liking]. Even though the furnishings and fixtures initially appear to be gaudy, they actually do pull together in the final chapters. So even though I was gaked out by the choices at first and didn't particularly care for the caricature of Scarlett, I eventually warmed up to all and enjoyed "working" for her in helping refurbish her mansion [as her "Auntie... as I named myself, lol].
Definitely a classic, timeless sort of TM [as the others to the series by this developer are) to at least check out and IMHO definitely ultimately worthy of purchase to add to your casual gaming collection for those moments in time when you just need a charming vividly illustrated TM to fulfill your gaming yens.

Based on the demo this is one of the best games to come along in quite some time.
The art work is exceptionally well done, music and sound are GREAT, the voice overs are definitely done by professional talent and none of the recent [icky] computer-generated fakey monotone; in fact, I'm certain I hear the voice of a particularly popular female sleuth with the initials of N D!? I read that the voice talent for Nancy D could mimic almost every vocal pitch. Needless to say, I am very picky about voiceovers in games ~~ in this game? I LOVED them all.
The creepy fairytale-like storyline is very engrossing due to excellently good pacing as well as the frequency rate of some unexpected twists and turns to the 'per usual'.
Oh~ and tho I typically do no enjoy having cute 'guides' I absolutely adored [!] the little scarecrow sidekick in this one... it could very well be, again, due to the artwork/graphics being amazingly good. The magically spooky factors are so nicely illustrated in both static as well as animated scenes and are just wonderful.
All in all it is SPECTACULAR for this Fall season, yet I could see enjoying this one at any time... !!!

I just finished the Demo and thought that the graphics were clear and nice with good color, yet overall the settings/characters were just a little stiff and stark compared to some TM's... this could have been resolved, possibly with a drag & drop character transition and more importantly with a better sound track. The music, in particular, sounded like it was elevator-type music and was very dry and uninspiring IMHO It just didn't give the game the oomph to raise it to the next level [which would have been 'good']. As it stands, this is just a very mediocre game.
As with many TM's of this type, progress is 'rewarded' with being able to furnish or design 'something'; in this case, the main character, Bella's, house. Based on the DEMO, the furnishing offered was very, very limited and mostly Asian themed.
As far as gameplay? The developers would have served the player better to have an easy/med/dif mode rather than this marginal, one size fits all.
Bottom line.... I MAY buy Bella Design when/if it becomes a DD or perhaps with a credit if I become extremely desperate for a new TM [and given that we just aren't offered many TM's of late, this is a possibility], yet truly, this game needs some work and tweaking to make it a truly fun game that one is eager purchase and play.

Yay... so glad to see yet another installment by this developer. I've enjoyed them all, yet, admittedly I have yet to get Gold level on ONE of the end levels of the last episode [and it appears I'm not the only one because there is no walkthrough anywhere on the web that includes it and many have the same issue].
Regardless, I was eager to check out the new edition and was not disappointed.
It takes lots of strategizing and occasional redo's, but thus far I've managed Gold Stars on all levels and am a little more than half way through the game [playing in between lots of other games] so it IS doable [albeit with the aforementioned planning].
So if you enjoy casual-light turn-based TM games where you have to put on the ole thinking cap, you will love this [and the other] games by this developer.
Check it out and give it a bit of time [and go easy on yourself] to be fair in your assessment.
Have fun & happy gaming!
I recommend this game!
