Anyone reading this needs to give the game a try and stay with it through the entire demo at least... it's a beautifully created game with a subtly gripping storyline.
At first glance one may shrug this off as 'just another dark and dreary..." nope!... here is the exception and not the rule because I thought the same thing but gave it a fair try and SO glad I did.
The graphics are absolutely amazing; the music is beautifully fitting to the atmosphere and the special touches in the H0G scenes were good enough to set a new standard. The subtle yet dramatic detail all came together and created an immersive, mysterious and creepy atmosphere yet maintained a special touch of 'reality' so as to really bring the entire storyline a notch above. It was very refreshing to have beautiful surroundings yet a suspenseful plot.... you won't find the commonly used trashed, burnt out, decrepit buildings here [in this game] in order for it to maintain chilling spookiness! [yay for that]!
There are very slight grammatical faux pas probably due to translation... otherwise the script is intelligently and thoughtfully designed which makes this game rewarding, satisfying, unique [in today's standards!] and definitely well worth the CE price...
It's been a while since I've been able to whole heartedly give a five star review and I believe this game deserves at least that.
Highly recommended.
Thank you BFG & developers!!
Enjoy! : )
I recommend this game!

Ok, so "Scarlet" buys a 2.5M mansion [apparently sight unseen] which ends up to be a rundown mess esthetically and apparently sooo filled with junk that she can ultimately finance all necessary reconstruction and upgrading with the proceeds from selling said junk via garage sales.
Um, alright... don't quit your day job, Scarlet. Who DOES that.... I didn't think even cartoon characters were that dumb, right?! Oh well, and then speaking of her day 'job' [freelance writer] which basically can be summed up to her wandering to her laptop periodically while she instructs YOU [the gamer] to run all her garage sales and to redecorate her house. Well, it's all worth it because she will clap for you as thanks each time you do an upgrade, lol... only trouble is it's a very unenthusiastic clap, too!! : }
Now if you can tolerate the 'plot' of the game thus far, realize the garage sales are going to consist of items that in more cases than not are totally unrealistic in both practicality and price. How about a clothespin for xx numbers of dollars [yes I did write 1 clothespin for multi dollars!] or a live puppy to a random stranger, etc.
In all fairness, the premise of the game was rather cute as well as fun in theory [only]. I just couldn't get past the details in the game [or lack thereof?] nor did I appreciate additional negatives: the graphics and sound. To my eyes, the illustrations and more importantly, characters [including the main], had exaggerated caricature type appearances which I personally found unappealing versus 'cute'... and though I kept in mind the old adage not to judge a book by it's cover so to speak, and I did try not to judge the game overall based the graphics, it's difficult to undue that overall first impression since the 'look' of a game is one of the first impacts a player does have.
As for the sound, well, it was fine [as in just ok] though it was a tad too overly exaggerated during the in-between score levels especially since I often play this sort of game at night or to unwind. I just didn't care for the abrupt nature of the score cut nor it's increased volume and general hyperactive nature.
Lastly, and importantly, I felt Manor Memoirs was not up to the standards worthy of a CE price.... even though we've been a bit lacking in game choices of late, it totally wasn't worth the price tag IMHO.
I may pick it up as a SE some day on sale; otherwise, sorry Scarlet, it's a pass and I don't accept this particular "job" opportunity. : }
Those happy with it.... enjoy & have fun! : )
I don't recommend this game.

At first glance this appeared a murder mystery and I typically love murder mysteries in general, [though my fav would be one where standardized game styles would be killed off], yet this ended up being a total 'NOT FOR ME' ALMOST from the beginning regardless of the plot.
First off I couldn't tolerate the COMPUTER GENERATED VOICE ACTING. I'd rather no voice* [*yes, I could turn it off, yet I guess you could say I would be paying for that in a CE, and it should be a standard criteria, right?].... besides that immediate and glaring annoyance, from the beginning it had already grated my nerves to the point where I could barely focus on the game's storyline [was there much of one versus same ole same?].. and with that, I was faced with the game graphics being overtly obliterated with steam punk which for me is a close second to not enjoying computer generated speech. I found the overall graphics crisp and well detailed, yet unfortunately with the steam punk weirdness, they became simply just plain ugly.
I won't even get into the simplicity, yet perhaps part to blame for that could be familiarity in theme/features, etc.... yet, on the other hand... uhm, nope.
To those enjoying, well.... enjoy. : )
I don't recommend this game.

...adventure lovers!!
You will NOT find bells and whistles, you will not find cute little hint helpers, you will NOT find inane rewards, hand holding, nor black bar hints or cut scenes... NO you will not find these bells and whistles here! So PLEASE do not rate this game based on the AVERAGE ;] casual games found on BFG as so many low star raters have. :\ You can consider this a casual game UNBOUND [from all the fluff and nonsense]. :)))
And... most importantly, what you WILL find is a chapter from the series of highly acclaimed, highly rated, much enjoyed point and click ADVENTURE GAMES with an in-depth STORYLINE that needs to unfold using the ole grey matter [thus comes the adventure].
SO, Adventure lovers!?.... check it out; you most probably will not be disappointed!!!
Happy gaming; have fun! : )
Btw, hope BFG has the final sequel.... amazing!!!

....in a wholesome, fun game!
Anyone familiar with the DELICIOUS EMILY TM series (not on this site) will probably enjoy this game immensely.... the same characters yet entirely different gameplay given that it is 'poker' and not a true TM. Actually, even those NOT familiar with the characters are bound to enjoy it as it is not necessary to know the prior games to do so.
Personally I was [and I know many others were] thrilled to see the friendly, 'familiar' faces on BFG, ones I have never seen HERE before and I bought it despite not having an initial great interest to learn poker and VERY GLAD I did; the characters have true personality and it is an integral part of the game to determine just what 'tells' each character possesses in order to beat their hand.... as mentioned, it was delightful to be among friendly faces of the Delicious series as well as a fun, easy way to learn, or for some.... to brush up or simply play poker when 'real' friends aren't available.
So, you GO devs!! I hope to see you expand out with more and more variations on the theme and particularly chuckled at the intro alluding to having to make money in the 'underground/back alleys' so to speak... an analogy if I ever saw one.
OH.... and please don't be put off by the low ratings... give it a shot; I know 'some' fishies will enjoy this as much as I, and I'm loving it.
Happy gaming; have fun! : )

First of all, HOW did I miss this game when it came out!? THIS game is a true straight adventure as mentioned in my title... H0G addicts will probably NOT like this; those of you who enjoy the real challenge of difficult puzzles and storyline with a great plot and follow-through will love it.
The dialogue throughout the game is more sophisticated and intense than most games on BFG and more like reading a really good novel than playing a casual game and that is precisely why I absolutely loved every moment of gameplay.
Graphics were well done with commentary on environment [another feature I admire] which created a more intense gaming experience. I also enjoyed the music and sound.
Again, not for everyone but those of you out there [like me] who love to be immersed in context versus fluff and nonsense will find The Turning Thorn to be an incredible and creepy world to lose yourself in for a while.
I did play the first episode of this game, Nightmare Adventures, The Witch's Prison, yet you don't necessarily have to play it in order to pick up on this, the second in the series.
Highly recommended and, wow, would be thrilled if another game by this developer would come our way [as if].
Happy gaming, have fun!
I recommend this game!

Well, it's been quite some time since I've purchased a CE or written a review on a new game; mainly because, well.... I just haven't felt one to be worthy of either UNTIL Dreampath: The Two Kingdoms.
The developers showed that one can take the creative process, true talent, and weave a magical, whimsical and enchanting story in the midst of a tried and true genre of PC games; one that will be remembered and possibly played more than once. It's not a far stretch to suggest it truly should be used as the gold standard for casual gaming [in it's category, of course]. Dreampath: The Two Kingdoms has an original and extremely imaginative plot with a simple beauty in terms of graphics & tale and a soundtrack that is understated yet at the same time gorgeous, relaxing, theme appropriate, and pleasant to listen to.
The only slightly downside for me was when I noticed the animated "helper"... Personally I am one of the first to thumbs down most any "animal helper", yet this game is truly a fairytale and just as PussN Boots was appropriate for it's tale, so is our feline friend in this PC fairytale. So I truly don't see him as a negative at all in this case.
SO.... PLEASE do give this one a try and don't be put off by the negative reviews.... it is appropriate, engrossingly engaging for young and old alike IMHO and SO worth the CE price.
Thank you developers & BFG;I loved this one and hope we'll see more!!
Enjoy & happy gaming! : )

please, developers lose the voice prompts in the newest of your games!!! This episode is PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sound, music etc was great... I love the newest of your games, yet the constant voice in the newer games that spew constant statements advising the actions of the game are VERY ANNOYING, although the graphics in the newer segments are more polished.
So, gamers, don't miss this, the first of the series and not as well recognized yet entirely as good as the newest! '
10 STARS to the developers on their incredible talent overall!!!

... this is a pretty darned good game! In fact, some of the high points of this game were actually much better than the mainstream CE's out lately. Hey, let's face it, this game offered as much as many games released as CE's and yet it held a mini SE price tag and was actually quite refreshingly enjoyable even if not as well polished.
Yes, IMHO, the devs did a fine job based on the fact they are not the 'big wigs' in the gaming industry not to mention the VOICE ACTING was BETTER than any game I've played of late. There were also some very nice creative aspects well worth the price of admission and a much better plot woven into the 'mix'.
So, yes, some of the game by initial appearance seems to be similar to many others as being ''well rehearsed', yet it is deeper... it also offers artistic elements that are quite original and, in addition, mini games were short and sweet [the way I usually like them]. It will be the first game I've purchased in a while actually so that says something, eh?.
I thought it a bit humorous that some reviewers gave a ONE or TWO star rating because "THE HINT BUTTON DOESN'T CHARGE FAST ENOUGH??!!! HAHAH Oh my gosh....not to mention there IS an option for that very preference one can customize if one truly 'needs' a hint button to guide game through a game at a speedy rate.
Well, my advice is to give this game a 'real' try and hopefully you will enjoy this on it's own merits as a fun, reasonably priced, interestingly created 'individual' game that sort of stands out in the 'crowd' [in a good way].
Enjoy and happy gaming! : )
I recommend this game!

Nancy Drew games games are almost a genre of their own. They are adventure heavy point and click and you will NOT find ANY H0S whatsoever in any of them. IMHO you must have patience and/or be in the mood to truly use the 'ole gray matter because there are no hints and they are not designed in the same manner as most BFG games, though there are strategy guides as well as walkthroughs online if you look for them via G@@gle.
So, as you probably already know, Nancy is a young amateur detective who 'stars' in the series of games by HER Interactive #of course, most loosely based on Nancy Drew books#. Each game is unique unto itself. Personally I enjoy all of her games with few exceptions and this particular episode finds Nancy searching for answers in a haunted mansion where you #Nancy# have arrived to investigate the disappearance of a bride to be and heiress to the family business. There are so many unique and interesting puzzles and lots of 'chills' in store as you work you way through the mysterious challenges #including interrogation of suspects, solving puzzles, and discovering clues# in finding answers to determine the fate of the bride-to-be and figure out just who is telling the truth and whether there truly is, in addition, a true "haunting" occurring at Thornton Hall.
I purchased and played this game as a 'boxed' PC-CD and I can tell you that BFG's price is WAY lower than retail and SO worth the price tag and effort in gameplay.
If you are a Nancy Drew fan, or are willing to take on the challenge to become one, this is an episode you don't want to miss!
Happy gaming ~ have fun! : )
