As far as game play goes, this one looks beautiful, has several different locations, puzzles are not too hard, and the story is interesting enough - but the extra things to find were a bit distracting and I found my self several times thinking, 'hang on, where am I, how did I get here and why?' - I found that going to some locations seemed a bit pointless and confusing, eg I thought I was in the orphanage, then I went to the orphanage, so what was that other house I was just exploring...?? I don't know, maybe I just need to concentrate more... Purchased on special and no regrets.
Wow, this will teach me for not trying before I buy - bought this one straight out based on my love of all the others in the series, but this one is totally different and totally bor-ing!!!! There doesn't seem any point, really - I've given up, I don't really care if she gets rescued...
Challenge yourself in the role of the scientist-historian-scholar of ancient civilizations and mystical legends and save your friend from the Demon of Darkness!
I was a little disappointed with the previous Secrets of the Dark: Temple of Night, but this one was much improved and I really liked it. I really love their concept of two versions of each location and in this one the game play went on for quite a long while, and many of the puzzles were really different, things I had never seen before.
I would still suggest playing Temple of Night first, as they go in order (and if you play it after this one it will be a disappointment).
My only gripe was the lack of an interactive map (there is no map of any kind), as there is a lot of travelling back and forth between locations, but once I remembered where everything was, that was ok.
Love this series - already have the next one downloaded and ready to go...
I really enjoyed this one - the challenges and the way to find and use objects were different and interesting. The story had great potential and it looked beautiful. But it was way too short!!! I found myself thinking "is that it, am I at the end already??" (and it wasn't just because I had got so caught up that I didn't want it to end, like in some games), and that was disappointing. So, interesting but short...
I have just finished, having only just purchased it this morning - it seemed to me very short and very easy... the mini-games were mostly basic, and so was the game play. I am surprised at some of the other great reviews, it could have been about anything, the vampire idea seemed just incidental. There was nothing particularly bad about this game, but nothing particularly good, either. Unless you are after a quick, easy game to fill an afternoon...
This game is different to most others I've played - the story was same-old same-old, but I loved the many different types of HOS scenes - some finding, some replacing, some a bit of both - and the fact that several of the locations had both a good and dark side, which meant two rooms full of stuff to do in the same place... very different. This is the first in this series that I've played and I'm going to go back for the others... There was a lot of going back and forth, so it could have really used an interactive map - I had to use the hint regularly to remember which location new items should be used. Over all, not bad...
I recommend this game!

Sounded great on paper, but what a let down... there was no challenge in this at all - all the games were really easy, the hos were basic and the story was way too short... with a total anti-climax... So disappointing, really glad I got this as the weekly $3 special. Might be a good one for beginners...
This is the first game I have completed in one sitting (and I have played dozens) - the story line had potential but was too short, and a little boring. The puzzles were really hard, but the rest of it was so easy - and there wasn't many hos... I normally love Mystery Trackers, but this one was a bit of a let down. BUT it has an interactive map, which all games need, so you can avoid the endless backtracking of other games... It was ok if you have nothing else to do, (I managed to avoid some housework for a little while) but sadly not up to the usual standard. Hope the next one is better... I've selected "I don't recommend this game" for MT fans, but if you don't care then go for it - but maybe when it's on special...
I downloaded this ages ago to save for Christmas time, and have finally just played it, and was rather disappointed! As a game it was pretty good - maybe too much back and forth but the map was very useful so that wasn't too hard to manage. Some of the puzzles were really hard!! But it could have just been any game about a kidnapped girl - once you got out of the first room with the Christmas tree, that's it - I expected Christmas themed games, and at least a Christmassy item in each hos, so that was a let down - and the story is rather different to the original, too, with bits of other fairy tales thrown into the mix... If they weren't trying to latch on to a famous story to get attention, and just did it as a stand alone game, it would be pretty good.
I found this very weird - the emphasis on all the zodiac and black magic was a bit too much. The puzzles were a bit same-old-same-old, but the mix of types of HOS scenes was a bit different. Don't play this if you a) don't like the obsession with zodiac and black magic; b) are squeamish; c) care at all for historical accuracy, because that was thrown pretty much out the window... Do play this if you a) like a mix of different hos; b) don't care about the story, just playing games; c) want to scare your kids :) Do I recommend? Yes and No...
