I bought this game thinking I was gonna kick myself for doing so. It's been so long since I liked anything done by Eipix. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. The dull/dark graphics fit the mood, although they still could have been done better. (I still don't understand why Eipix feels the need to make their download size so small at the expense of better graphics - so I knocked off a star for that reason.)
I found the puzzles sufficiently challenging and the game held my attention. So many Eipix games start with a bang and then I forget the story line as things bog down in one puzzle after another. Thankfully, that didn't happen with this game.
All this said, I will RECOMMEND the game this time around. As always, I suggest a trial before purchasing.
This is hands down the worst game that Elephant has ever published. I honestly found it hard to play it was so badly done. The voice overs where horrible. The graphics were laughable. Nothing was hidden in the hidden object scenes. Logic was completely absent. I highly suggest you give this a trial before buying it.
I want to send a special thank you to the developers at 5-BN. You guys remember the quality of the games that BFG had when back in the days that it developed many of its own games. From the opening sequence I was smiling with the quality of the game graphics. The puzzles were of a good difficulty level and the story was fantastic and engaging. I would give this game 10 stars if I could!
I bought this game without trialing it because I enjoyed past year's games in this series. Big mistake and I won't do that again. The voice-overs, the graphics, the story were all just really badly done. If you haven't yet decided to buy it, I highly DO suggest you trial it first so that you don't repeat my mistake. Brave Giant...you can do MUCH better than this!
There is very little good I can say about this game. Same tired old basic story. Kindergarten handholding. A series that needs to be retired. About the only good thing was the graphics but even with that I only last 10 mins before uninstalling the trial. If you buy without trialing, well, you were warned by many reviewers.
I don't like giving bad reviews to smaller developers because I hope to see them improve. However, this just doesn't cut it. The graphics need a vast improvement and the story needs a re-write. Even more disheartening is to see the "Editor's Choice" designation. I won't be buying this and I do suggest that you trial it before buying.
I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this game. While puzzle complexity is a personal thing, this game got it right for me...not brain-busting and not kindergarten easy either.. Overall the graphics were pretty good all though the animation could definitely use some improvement. (For the life of me, I don't understand why EIPIX does improve this and the graphics compression). They once told me they create games in HD and then compress them for BFG. Here's an idea - create them at a level that doesn't require compression!
I'll add my review to the pile of positive reviews of this game. I'll sum up by saying that I pretty much like everything about it....graphics, quality, artwork, voice-overs, challenge (some puzzles easier while others are tougher). I hope that 4Friends continues to turn out games of their current quality. Even with my positive review, I always suggest a trial of the game before buying.
I'm about half way through the purchased game and it's the best one I've played on BFG in quite some time. The graphics quality is what I wish all of the developers would aspire to on BFG. The story line is great and engaging and the puzzles and HOPs are not so piled on top of one another that you forget the story (as too many developers are doing these days.) 5-BN and Domini are about the only developers left on BFG that still use 3D-type graphics instead of the cartoonish 2D adopted by most other developers. I give it 5 stars but, as always, try it before you buy it!
I'm about 40% through the purchased game. I'm having fun with it. It straddles the line between silly and creepy fun and I think it balances the two types well. I've always thought that Elephant knows how to do high-end graphics better than just about any other developer on BFG. I DO recommend this game if you life fun, Halloween games.
That said, here's where I wish Elephant would improve: (1) Graphics too similar to the type used in Midnight Calling (2) enough with the amulet/keys (3) Increased difficulty buy not to the point of taking forever to solve (4) longer games (this is my biggest gripe across all of BFG).
As always, I suggest at least a short trial before buying.
