Based on the Demo, Elementary My Dear Majesty is just plain hilarious, with it's cartoonish graphics and abstract, comical, tongue-in-cheek humor.
A well needed break from the doom and gloom games...the only negative is the tiny visuals and stilted game play (woah, woozy#, although there is a zoom-in feature, all the above negs makes the gameplay a tad awkward. Otherwise, it would definitely been all 5 out of 5 in all categories.
This FUNNY game is in line with the quality, older adventure series #and that IS a positive!). Those of you who've played games of 'yore', know what I'm talking about... nothing can compare.... they were the BEST of the best and quality through and through, well thought out and very entertaining, despite premodern graphics capabilities. If you have never played those games, now is your chance to open your mind "out of the box' and get ready to laugh with the same quality and upgraded, 3d graphics!
Elementary My Dear Majesty is so much fun; hilarious for both adults and families with a good sense of humor and desire for imaginative, totally fun gaming. Thumbs up.

Based on the DEMO....
The storyline via the demo only, was completely disjointed as well as the overall theme of the graphics and layout. A mix of gothic, modern, caricature, horror, romantic.... bottom line a mishmash. This may have worked had the overall theme of the game picked it up in the script, yet it did not.
It was as though the developer hypothetically took a hodgepog of storyline, characters and art, put them in a bag, shook them up, and developed a game based on how they all landed on the table.
Puzzles are disjointed and not practical... ie. requiring multiple items for basically the same mundane task in different areas that are close by, an accident which occurs is not even followed up.
I don't want to play a character who plays the part of having no concern for an accident victim, for starters. Love may rule the heart but that's a bit much, very cold... maybe that is why it's called "black" heart, I would hope that would only apply to the villain, not the hero aka main character which it already appears to be based on the demo script!? Sorry, not for me.
Bottom line, absolutely nothing in the demo grabbed me enough to want to purchase the game... perhaps during a sale or DD just to check out more of why others rated it so highly. (!?)

If you are like me and have been hoping for an exciting adventure/H0 with beautiful graphics and a fairytale-like fantasy without overt occult theme yet on the scary side with magical, mystical as well as imaginative themes, here is your game.
Each screen has been a vision of beauty and unique appeal; tasks involved solving the 'mystery' of the lost/captured girl are a fun pleasurefest experience both visually and challenge-wise throughout the game. The illustrations and characters aren't too cutesy, yet are not ugly either.... they are appropriate to the storyline and a perfect mix of lovely, slightly bazaar #in a good way# , spooky, pleasant with many twists and little surprises thrown in here and there.
There is a built in strategy guide, achievement awards as well as an ongoing hunt and find #in this case, gorgeous, delicate little fairies# . I truly enjoyed playing each step of the way.... the quality maintains itself throughout the entire game and does not disappoint.

Reminded me of a somewhat Myst-like theme game for the casual gamer. Guided by a male voice 'overseer' with varying linear gameplay and varying puzzles. The main character's voice is very calm and soothing and recognizable #to me# similar to the voice actor in Vision in White.
Definitely give it a try.... a solid new age impact-visual and music.... a mesmerizing game to play at leisure.

After I got over the disappointment the game was not truly based on the original book then play/movie, ___ Portrait of Dorian Gray, and then experiencing an additional caveat toward the beginning, #a scene appeared to depict something other than what was said to be a mythological character# ; I ventured onward and enjoyed the game. I did so after doing a little research and taking the dev on their 'word' for same.
Overall, Brink of Conciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome was well done with good suspense and interesting gameplay...
It's the only game where I've had to turn off the voice acting; however, because the villain was just too cheesy and overly annoying to enjoy listening to and actually took away from the game overall, IMO. Fortunately the developers had the forsight to offer a subtitle script option.

I have played enough of the Demo to know I want to buy this game. It has all the characteristics of a point and click adventure game with the addition of H0G scenes and as well as other unique hunt and find visuals.
There is a slight learning curve, ie. reading the directions and reading dialogue between the characters along the way, so if that is ok bye you, you will definitely like this game. I think it's charming so far and want to continue to find out what is next, so the plot does pull you in.
This will be a great game for casual relaxation and pleasant enjoyment... nice to find a good game at a SE price.

Based on demo only.... White Haven Mysteries is NOT one of the break-the-game-mold games, but one that I will surely remember enough to DEFINITELY purchase as a SE and be happy with the purchase. In fact, I would as a CE if not having exceeded my gaming budget already this month.
I found it a bit of psychological thriller/spooky and fun game, not over the top in any respect (meant in a good way); a game for a chill thrill while still being able to walk away without feeling nasty.
Graphics are clear and good, the puzzles enjoyable, albeit not too challenging (mostly H0G but a bit adventure) and the story is mysterious enough to pull you in and want to keep going.
Voice over was excellent.
Thumbs up.... definitely check this one out ...despite the overall rating, I, personally, believe it is better than it's overall score.

As the stone read in the entrance to one of the scenes, I am practicing forgiveness (and feeling much regret), for having spent good money on this game. Actually it had potential but it was lost in awful, slow, expansive lags that just never seemed to want to come together.
On the plus side, the graphics were outstanding and there were some amazingly interesting and appealing scenes; however, most scenes were not only so far and few between, some were grayed out and dreadfully dreary and for another, the artwork was lost in a horrible gameplay.
There was a frustrating wait time (even on my brand new gaming computer) between rooms (ie, 10%, 20%, etc...yep, screens between scenes were actually numbered.. percentage-wise) and there was a similarly annoying lag time between anything actually even happening within the game. There was much too much wandering around in vacant-like areas, and I typically don't mind that at all, being an avid adventure gamer. But usually, there is a greater reward to the wandering (ie. venturing!# and waiting which this game lacked.
Plot-wise, I never felt a desire to even want to assist to help find the wives because there was no real detailed pull in the story presented to create a bond between the player and the character/s.
The music was so dull and drab, it was literally depressing and I had to turn it OFF.... first time ever for me in a game and while on the topic of turning things on/off, an annoying screen came up whereby you had to actually pull a little chain AFTER arriving at the options screen #more delays#. On the plus side, I enjoyed the SFX sound used when finding a hidden object item, it had a rewarding twist to it.
What a shame the game didn't pull together, some of the puzzles were unique and the artist obviously had the talent to create a beautiful game. Instead, much was wasted on the macabre and unappealing portrayals of gruesomely drab gardens and dismembered animals #at least in one part). Obviously some creepiness is necessary in a "scary" game, yet overkill is just that. Examples of the good ie,. the owl depiction, pond, and many other portrayals that come to mind were almost art-nouveau art deco-ish and were absolutely beautiful and yet held the scary, suspenseful atmosphere necessary for a game such as this. Too bad it all had to be wasted in a blah game with little intrigue.
There was a hint at the end there may be a sequel... someone will have to take this back to the devs for a serious overhaul if they want my $ though.
I loved this little known game... it was simply enchanting.... had fun and magical things to see and do, incorporated fantastic, original gameplay and artwork, music and wove a tale I just didn't want to end.
WOW. I would LOVE to see MORE of this type of game... Encore, Encore!! Please, please!!! Bring them on... LOL a pure pleasure to play .... and I will do so again!!!!
The only caveat I could think of is I changed my screen res to 800x768 because I don't like the black border on my widescreen, nor do I like straining me ole eyes to find things.... Fix that and you'll have a total winner, in my book. Well, you do have a winner even without that fix, actually, hahah. LOVED IT!!!!
I have a new favorite and this will probably stay at the top of my list FOREVER. Why oh why don't they produce more games like THIS ONE>!!??
The spooky factor is WAY UP THERE while maintaining quality, charm, wit, challenge and substance.
The graphics are absolutely fantastic and the music out of this world!!!! I am in LOVE with this game ~~ I've had it for a while and hadn't played it until now ... WHAT was I waiting for!?
The storyline is enticing and pulls you on... I couldn't stop playing until the wee hours of the morning and wish it would never stop.
Absolutely THE BEST spooky game EVER. Bewitching and enthralling.... true talent is obvious with this one and they did it all without any nasties (if you know what I mean)... it had the chills and thrills and spooky without gross over-done or depressing aspects.
I would say overall, it had more of a strong adventure theme with H0. The H0 scenes are scrumptuous as are all the areas and it seems to go on forever. Lots and lots of places to explore and hidden secrets behind every door. I didn't need to use the guide more than once or twice yet the puzzles challenging. Yay!!! I almost never play a game twice but this one I just may to relish each scene again. It is the BEST!!! Can you tell I love it!?
