This is such a pleasant game, no over the top spookiness or outlandish HO scenes. I didn't have to use the hint button outside of HO scenes, and even then only once or twice. The perfect mix of fun and challenge, and the story line is intriguing as well!
I loved the humor, the ability to play as different characters, the witty banter is what made it so great. The puzzles were challenging and interesting, and relevant to the story line, which is rare.
The graphics were vivid and clear. It reminded me of a Shrek-like movie that included puzzles and HO throughout.
I definitely recommend, and wish more HO games were made this way! My only complaint, I wish it lasted longer!
I tried it while it was $2.99 and didn't buy it. The graphics are terrible, cartoonish and grainy. The sparkles were inaccurate and kept pointing me to things i couldn't do yet. I'm always looking for games that are fun without being creepy but this was boring and frustrating, not up to par with some of the newer HO games!
I got this based on it's good reviews and it didn't disappoint! My first reaction was that it was a little childish, but the storyline picked up later.
I love anything pirate so the theme was a plus. The graphics were excellent. The game is an arcade-style HO, very little adventure, and you're awarded points as you progress. I don't understand why I need a point system when I only plan on playing once, but nonetheless, you get points. There were also bandits to shoot along the way that filled up your hint meter, which really needed to happen less frequently because they became annoying, and no one needs 42 hints.
The HO scenes were clever and the main point of the game. Some objects helped along in the story line which was explained at the end of each scene. There were some puzzles mixed in, some I really liked and some I skipped immediately because they were more tedious than difficult.
If you're not into creepy games and like something fun and relaxing then this is definitely for you.
i have a laundry list of complaints, but my 3 stars are based on my unnatural love of all things pirate.
the storyline was lame and most of the time non-existent. nightmares of the deep did this so much better. the puzzles here were all the same, spin one circle and three others spin. spin a different circle and only one spins, somehow find a way to make everything match. there was nothing new or exciting about them, but they were easy enough and i don't hate that type of puzzle so they got the job done.
one plus was the HO scenes. they were rare for this type of game, and some of the best i've encountered. even though objects were replaced upon subsequent visits, each object was cleverly hidden without being ridiculously small. and each HO scene gave you something vitally important. otherwise there's a lot of searching in this game. it's not so much adventure as searching, for the obscure random object that inexplicably solves the task at hand. inventory items were used sometimes in the same room, sometimes dragged out through most of the game, which i found very irritating. how many times you can attempt to use a wire?
what i loved most was the music and graphics, this game will go far due to those alone. overall however, it was all bells and whistles with little substance.
The game was too much fantasy for me. It's hard to use logic and reason when everything is magical. There's no sense of humor throughout the game, no witty banter, and nothing special happens when you click around the rooms. The graphics seemed like an older-style game. The difficulty of HO was nice, not to easy and not too hard. There was a bit more creepiness toward the end than i would have liked, but not as bad as most ghost buster HO games. HO scenes aren't revisited which was a plus. The game is separated into 4 "seasons" and their corresponding worlds but there was still a lot of running back and forth to free the children and all that nonsense. Overall I find myself missing the real world, but I'd recommend for those like me who like games without the scare-factor.
I was hesitant to try this, i'm not a fan of creepy games with ghosts and bad spirits, etc.. i thought it wouldn't be that bad with reviews describing it as a cheesy love story. i found it to be both cheesy and creepy, i played some of the demo but decided not to buy.
I didn't get very far, the graphics were cartoonish and the HO scenes were nearly impossible. I needed multiple hints and even with the hint, i had to resort to the forum to figure out what to do with the flashlight! I'm a fan of HO scenes but these were too much, pack a bag, find a granddads key, find anna's compass. they were very hard and overwhelmed the game. i quit before i even left the room stages so i can't speak for atlantis or the rest of the game.
Fun game, very different than typical HO games. There aren't specific HO scenes, instead pieced of objects are scattered throughout the rooms and some puzzles are mixed in. The game is split into stages so there's a sense of completion once you get to the next door. Graphics aren't detailed or pretty but they're colorful, and get the job done. The sparkles accurately lead you to the next step so there's minimal frustration, and the hint button is helpful and accurate.
I mostly enjoyed this because it's a change from the eery ghost stories, it's fun and relaxing. I highly recommend!
This game was longer than usual. The story line was good, spooky without being too scary. The ending was quick but I had fair warning, and the main part of the game was enjoyable. There were a ton of new locations to explore, interesting puzzles and most of the HO scenes took some time and effort.
My major gripe was with the misclick penalty for HO scenes, I've never seen one so quick! If I want to click around, let me click around! Especially since the HO were difficult and some items were nearly impossible to find. On the positive side I liked the clever use of the flashlight, and the missing items weren't placed back into the scene.
Graphics were typical, and the task list was very helpful. I wasn't a fan of the "netherworlds" since they were so nonsensical, I'm more of a fan of logic and reason. But overall I liked the game and it held my interest.
